Guys thank you all so much for the comments!!!! I have some very interesting insight about this video and these two wasp nests! The larger spherical nest on the eave of this house I believe was a Bald Face Hornet Nest. The subterranean nest on the other side of the house was an Eastern Yellow Jacket Nest!! Totally different species and I actually incorrectly labeled the title of this video because the nest on the house was the Bald Faced Hornet Nest. ALSO, I believe the reason I found yellow jackets fallen to the ground around the Bald Faced Hornet nest was because there was some kind of turf war between the two wasp species. Obviously the Hornet's are larger but the Yellow Jackets have more numbers. Who do you think would win in a fight like this?? I had a few comments point this out! Thanks so much for the insight and observations! I still learn things in the pest control industry every day.

Considering that Yellow Jackets are swarming insects you should have had the owners of the property take their dog inside. God forbid if a mistake was made their dog on the deck would have been targeted immediately.

Those aren’t Yellow Jackets on the house. They’re Bald Face Hornets. The YELLOW ones in the ground ARE Yellow Jackets. With their nests as close to each other as they are, the yellow jackets are no doubt attacking the hornet nest and you caught them in the act.

If anyone has yellow jacket nest and want to get rid of them use hornet long spray for killing. best way to do that is at night with a small light they can’t see in the dark then get away from nest after spraying. they attack in the day when they see you close to the hives.

Yes Yello Jackets will also build nests above ground on structures and they are gray paper type nests like the Hornets build but the yellow jacket and bald face yellow hornets will build their nests much smaller in size and they keep their nests as round as possible for whatever reason! The Yellow Jacket and The Bald Face Yellow Hornets do resemble each other quite a bit, except the color patterns will differ one another and the wings on each are made a little different! Dawn dish liquid mixed heavily with warm water works great for killing Bees that need removed from certain areas and even below ground but I use WD-40 or Liquid Wrench or any other brands of spray like those directlyrics on the Nests for a much quicker result to get rid of Bees
@ericanthony9536
@ericanthony9536 10 ай бұрын
I agree about the Dawn solution: cleared a nest, same black and white hornets as in the video, in a little larger nest with soap and water in a spray bottle --- a direct hit will drop a crawling hornet immediately; but not so much if they are flying. It took about a half an hour to finish them all off, (about 15 ft. distance), but did not get stung.

I'm just gonna say you are crazy to be doing this with this method. It seems that you got lucky with these nests and maybe got not so aggressive bees. A lot of pest control people use a vacuum and a bee suit to eliminate a nest. so this is bold and risky but if u didn't get stung I guess u got the job done.

Black and white are typical bald face hornets aka aerial nest building yellow jackets. And with a ground nest being so close that is why you are seeing both together. Both nest have been disturbed at the same time so they are going to be aggressive.

Those worm things he showed I believe were actually parasites of the wasps. They do start out as little grub thingies that are the same color but they look a little different (you can google wasp larvae.) And they go in those cells and spin those white caps made of silk and then turn into a mature wasp inside of that cap thing. It’s actually pretty interesting to study about them

Pro tip: Hit any hornet or yellowjacket nest entrance with Fipronil in a backpack and the nest will be completely dead in 24 hours. Doesn’t get much easier.
@deanevangelista6359
@deanevangelista6359 22 күн бұрын
Fipronil also doesn’t excite them like the consumer sprays. When I find a nest, I mix Fipronil with canned chicken, and put it in a cage. The wasps take the tainted chicken back to the nest to feed the larvae, and within 48 hours, they’re all dead.

What when you can't see the nest because its inside a wall, and all you can see is wasps flying in and out. My Brother me and me, decided to blitz the nest with wasp powder, then we caught over 100 wasps in a plastic back, squashing them as they came out. Hopefully, we have got the nest, as most of the activity has now "Died" down. They have been there outside my front door for around 3 months now, and I have gone in through the back door since. Even our "Mail Man" is avoiding them at present.

TBH I don't think it was the best idea to stand on the railing so close, the spray likely reaches far enough plus you can't quickly move in case of splash back which the more powerful sprays will tend to splash back if you're too close. You probably could have easily reached it from the deck or even partway down the stairs, but maybe I'm wrong I didn't see how far the stream went when you tested it. I checked out the spray in the description and it says 20 feet so yeah, I get you know what you're doing and were fine doing it this way, but it's something viewers should be cautious about when using these sprays, you can get yourself pretty wet with it if you're not careful. These sprays probably aren't nearly as bad for humans as for the insects they're intended for, you might know more than I do about how toxic it is for humans. I'd recommend anyone inexperienced to wear safety glasses too.

Why do you not have a ladder, a bee suit and a bee pole so you can do your job more effectively? If you fell off that banister and got hurt, your workman's comp claim would be denied. With a bee pole, I can attach the scraper and scrape that nest off from ground level without the unnecessary risk of climbing on a handrail.
