As a very beginning potter, I found this video to be very clear and helpful. Is there a way of glazing right to the bottom when using the unstable glaze? Could glaze be brushed on once the pot is sitting on the table following being dipped?

This is the first time I learned to rinse the cup before glazing. Could you please explain the purpose of doing the step? Thanks!

We have had some issues with our Coyote glazes going on too thick so by rising them first the pot will absorb less glaze. It also helps remove dust from the pot due to sitting in a very busy studio.

Do you not notice that the pots get too water soaked when you wash them right before glazing?

We rinse them fast! If a student gets them too wet, then they have to put it in front of a fan or wait until the next day.

How do you know if the glaze is unstable?

Test it or your glaze company might tell you. We use Coyote Glazes and they have a great website with lots of information about each of their glazes! Look up Coyote Clay & Color.
