You should do a video on the duties and responsibilities of each graded position in ranger school.

I got a Major Minus for taking my PC off during land nav. I thought it was stupid AF, but there's a method to the madness, which is following instructions and attention to detail!

Things have changed since my class of 9-82. We came off of a 48 hour patrol and went straight to the Darby Queen. Ranger school is one of those experiences where you’ll get these random flashbacks about the course.

When Joe Rogan and his crew do the "Sober in October Challenge" and healthy living month they should run the Darby Queen as one of their physical fitness tests. I'm sure the Army could make that work.

“You’re not a Ranger if you don’t recycle.” LOL. Recycled the Mountains from Class 3-83 to Class 4-83. Dead of winter. Tons of snow. I was amazed to see how similar my dad’s 11-58 class experience was to mine, and mine to yours here. At least we had shelter half’s in Darby. Maybe because we were winter. Opords are fo sho a team event. Have to delegate esp the terrain model. Every class is slightly different. “Don’t G2 the course. “ Good stuff here from an old grad.

I was in a firefight with the Taliban in Afghanistan. The one thought that came to mind was how thankful I was I wasn’t back at Ranger School in the Dohlonega Mountains. The Tennessee Valley Divide is where hopes and dreams die.

@@thomasloveless4800 My uncle was CO of a rifle company with the 25th ID in Viet Nam. He said he thought the same thing, and he graduated Ranger School in 1965! I carried my Dad's Honor Grad guidon at the BRC last weekend and shared it's 1958 date with a bunch of the cadre. One young (they are all SOOOO young) Staff Sergeant asked how different it was back in the day. As much as the world has changed since 1958 or 1983, or today, that course is similar enough to bind the Ranger Students of toady with my day, and back to my dad's day.

Two modes of thought, 1st, if you're going just tab out that's fine but, if you want the tab and then hopefully on to a Ranger Battalion you must know these two things and accept them, are you prepared mentally, physically, emotionally and psychologically to kill someone and are you willing and prepared to die to accomplish the mission and or to save your buddies life. If the answer to that is no, then perhaps you need to think of another less stressful MOS and go there.

Been a while since I went so stuff may have changed but a couple things: 1. Don’t think I heard you talk the Darby Mile buddy run (took place right around the RAP week/Darby transition) 2. During Darby the missions were ambush and recon (raids weren’t introduced until mountain phase) 3. Tie downs are such a big (annoying) part of every phase it might be worth mentioning (lord help you if you don’t know how to tie a bowline knot). If you’re planning on waiting for the knot instruction in mountains you’re gonna have a bad time. 4. Coming back from your 8-hour pass, expect to get the dog crap smoked out of you. Good info though!

The amount of material that must been jammed in the head for Darby is nearly overwhelming.. Attempting to check all of the blocks like a robot whilst briefing, attempting to remember what you’ve got to do on the ground. Shit scares me man lol

Alltheway, I wanted to do what you doing but as a 16 year old that signed and got to Ft Jackson at 17, I listened to wrong advice and took supply mos instead of Infantry with Ranger contract in 1988, there were also outrageous bonuses. I wanted to do it all. Wasn’t meant I guess.

Just want your thoughts on this...I want to be a 75th ranger because it's fulfilling, pride and it's not boring. It's more meaningful and cool to reflect on and say you've went through it. Rathee than "oh I went to college got my engineering degree and worked as an engineer and retired." Woopty doo. However, this means a higher chance to deploy and see combat which I don't WANT to kill and I understand you need to protect your battles (most ppl don't want to kill). So basically, becoming a 75th ranger is like asking to kill someone (higher odds) just to give more pride in my life. Should I even go 75th ranger? I feel like I have a bad mindest. Would really like your take on this!
@GrittySoldier

I think you really need to think about what you think you would like doing, what you would be proud to do, and something that motivates you every day to wake up and give Max effort. Also, a cool thong about the military is you are never stuck doing something, there are plenty of ways to switch things up while continuing to serve.

@@ObamaSaidHeLikesMe Being in the army is all about sacrifice but that being said you definitely want to find yourself in a place where you actually want to serve, The more motivated you are as a Soldier the Better asset you will be to the Army in general, so IMO it would behoove you to find a MOS or career field that you absolutely feel would suit your interests best!

As an Infantry SSG, let's get to more basics... How do you feel about an outdoor life, spending at least 180 days a year, living outdoors, in primitive conditions, no electricity, no water, no fire!!! Count on doing this for weeks, to go out and kill people. Think again. I would reject you, you don't really want this. You have no fire in your belly. Sell shoes, be a cook, or something.

Sir, why do you ruck so much is it that important to of being a good Soldier?
@GrittySoldier
@GrittySoldier 2 жыл бұрын
I actually dont ruck as much as it might seem, at most about 1x a week. But, I do it for many reasons: 1. It’s great low-impact cardio. 2. It’s great for building endurance. 3. It’s gives me a chance to “go for a walk an zen out.” 4. It burns tons of calories. 5. It gives me time to work on these videos! 💪 For a minority of the Soldiers in the army, there is a 12-mile under 3:00 hours ruck standard that is supposed to be upheld as well. But really man, I just like it. 🤘
