I'm from the Vancouver area and don't use an umbrella. I wear a jacket with a hood or my Tilley hat. Great hike. How amazing that tunnel was behind the waterfall! Aren't you worried about your safety sleeping overnight at the side of the road in a deserted area?

The Columbia Gorge and Cascade Locks is the catalyst that lead me to buy and convert a van. That area is magical. I went to Eagle Creek/Tunnel Falls back in April. Oregonians not carrying umbrellas is true. I still have California blood in me so whenever I have my umbrella out in the rain someone asks "you're in Oregon and you're using an UMBRELLA?" It's like, yeah, it's f'n rainy as hell here, why WOULDN'T I?

I have a fear of heights but I think I would actually do that first rock climb, but not the 2nd...as long as it's not FAST and high, I'm ok, but that was a VERY high and skinny trail up to that tall waterfall and tunnel, which I would never be able to do! Be careful out there sweetie!

Not much legal camp sites right on the Gorge (though there's a couple known spots on iOverlander). South of the gorge highway is all national forest land which is all free public land.
