Some extra trivia: - this episode plays on the 21th June, the same date Michael hangs himself - that's why Jonas is visiting his father's grave - that's why Hannah is trying to kill herself at this time - the second season also aired exactly on the 21th June 2019, the exact date of death of Michael - the 2nd season plays 33 weeks after the first - The circled date 27.6 on the calender (the beginning of the last cycle as it is referred to in the Triquetra notebook or as Claudia said "the apocalypse") adds also to 33 - nice setdesign in Adam's hideout with the family pictures surrounding the symbol of the tree of life - the black dome that formed during the S1 finale is brushed off as an unusual weather phenomena in one of the newspapers on Hannah's table - these huge blobs on the trees and walls in the future are moth sacks. Maybe some mutation. In behind the scene footage on the director's Instagram, it has been revealed that they use the larvaes from the moths as a food resource for protein. That's why there are larvaes getting grinded up in the intro even though footage like this never has gotten into the show About the differences in the calender: These shouldn't be there. This was a mistake when S2 aired, yet after an update, they had it edited out. It should've been fixed. Are you watching an older version lol?

So we watched these on Netflix in real time, but I may or may not have procured my own copies for my rewatch, which is where I noticed the calendar discrepancy. On another note, some of those things on trees are sometimes assumed to be some sort of radiotrophic fungi. I think there are also rather large ones seen in the Kahnwald home. In the area of Pripjat they may or may not have found some species of radiographic fungi which can convert the ionizing radiation into energy and thrive off it.

I'd say that there are older-younger pairs that look more alike than Jonas-Stranger. But their mannerisms are uncanny: Their facial expressions, the way they move and act. And they only feel more similar as time passes.

Wöller and the hooker (Benni) are siblings. You even saw their mother in the beginning of the first season when nurse Ines was introduced. Her colleague asked her "Can you do my shift, I have to bring Benni (!) to the soccer training".

One of the best cold opens ever. One expects the series to beginn with 2053 where we left off, but immediatly bombards you with a new timeperiod, further back than we ever visited. Than it continues: Adam? Prophecy? Young Noah? So memorable in my opinion, especially with all the context.

You cannot see this on a rewatch because this was a production error. Netflix already fixed this pretty short after release of season 2. That's also why no other youtube reactors noticed this because they obviously watched the updated version. There had been lots of discussions (and wrong theories) about this calendar discrepancy back then (for example on reddit) and that's how the producers and Netflix even found out about this error in the first place.

As I said, it was quite the craze back in 2019 on platforms like Facebook... and then a few days after, it was gone. I think I started to follow bo on Instagram because he made a post about him correcting that digitally.

The fact that the season now only has 8 episodes probably has more to do with the fact that Netflix started cutting back on the series back then and many series have been reduced from 10 or more episodes to 8 or 6 episodes. You can thank Netflix for the fact that many series no longer have any depth because they can't produce enough episodes. 3:50 You know them both... but at different ages... 🙂

that's the correct answer. That was the time around when all seasons all of the sudden got shorter (again). Netflix originally started with 13-episode seasons, later they went down to 10 episodes, around 2020 they went down to 8 episodes, nowadays you find more and more shows with only 6 episodes in a season. And those short seasons get also often split.

In my perfect world, each season has 11 episodes, adding up to a series total of 33 episodes. But we live in Netflix's world, where we can't have nice things. About your last comment (not a spoiler): "God particle" is the nickname of theHiggs boson, a particle that is real and was theoretically predicted in the 60s and a few years ago created in a particle accellerator. It has not been found in nature though. You can google Higgs boson if you're interested, it doesn't give a spoiler for the show as it is actually a real science phenomenon. Of course you will have to see for yourself what it is in the context of dark.

I hoped that you would get the similarities between Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, and this episode title. You do not disappoint. 5:35 So shortly before this season aired... on June 21st 2019, the day of Mikkel's suicide in season one... bo and Jantje gave a few interviews and they kept calling the season a cycle and also that the third season/cycle would be the last. So many of us in the discussions at the time assumed this was meant as a reveal of the release date of the third and final season. Indeed, the last season was released on June 27th, 2020, the day of the apocalypse. 9:00 and now you showed us that you are not reacting to the source on Netflix but the one where you grab the footage from; we had this discussion a lot in the early days but bo quickly reacted by digitally adding that missing X; a few days after release, the new version was uploaded to Netflix and later audiences never noticed this error Which begs the question about the dub; I think that source has the [CC] subs, but you should use the other, far better, English subs.

We only ever heard her talk in a scene with Ulrich in 1x02, I think. 19:50 it is indeed a good question what he was doing those months... most people completely ignore that; but I also still find it interesting that he seems to suggest that he had simply spent the last 33 years living from 1986, when she met him, to now 18:25 okay, it is the proper sub; the CC sub here simply says [speaking French]

In the light beam there is the archangel Michael who throws down several naked bodies. 27:49 we didn't tell you but those coins were a 1 Pfennig coin. it was the equivalent of a penny to a dollar for the Deutsche Mark. But obviously, by 2019 the Euro had replaced the DM.

30:40 since you have trouble remembering his name, I would like to adress that you already noted the similarity to the name H.G. Wells, author of The Time Machine; so Tannhaus seems rather random; there is a character in an opera of Richard Wagner of the similar name Tannhäuser; and that name also made it into the internationally acclaimed Tears in the Rain monologue in Blade Runner; so maybe it is a reference to that Tannhäuser Gate? Or the opera? Who knows 31:50 well they talked about it in that walk and talk scene; the power plant is closed/decommissioned in 6 days; they put the barrels into this cooling tank because when it is filled up the measurable radiation will be explained as residue radiation from the tank itself without leading to suspicion; they are also the term "grüne Wiese", green meadow, which means that the power plant will be torn down... but we all know that that doesn't work out

For me the vibe from their 2020 timeline is the same i had watching it in 2020/21, because of covid the whole world was kinda weird, that's the same feeling i get of their town in 2020. Also i saw in one of your videos that you commented that winden doesn't really exist, but it does! and it has some "touristy" stuff out there! 😁 btw i know you watch ahead before uploading and i just want to let you know that Season 3 has a great Trailer and Soundtrack with it! From the cursory research I did (asking a friend to look it up for me because I'm not trying to get spoiled), there is a real place in Germany called Winden, but the Winden in the show is completely fictionalized, and not meant to be the same place. I could be wrong, though. I'd definitely love to visit some of the locations they used, though, especially the caves. I've wondered how much of it was on location vs how much of it was a set. I agree, the fact that Dark hasn't won any Emmys is a crime. Thank you for your kind words!

Infact even adam is doing everything in his power to finally stop but Eva don't want to stop the loop so it's never ending....
