As a yarn crafter, I'm a bit concerned about the dust on the yarn - but if she puts them in plastic bags that would sort that out. And with the crafting tools on the top shelf? Does she have a ladder/foot stool to get to them? (I have arthritis so access is an issue for me). I keep all my tools in boxes in an open shelf, and the yarns are sorted by type and brand mostly in boxes. I do have a set of yarn that are out (because I love the colours) but I do have to keep them in plastic bags to protect them from the dust. The light is gorgeous. And the overall effect of the room is spectacular.
@RachelReiss4 жыл бұрын
I was worrying about the dust, too. It's beautiful having it out, but I think everyone who tries it has to find a way to protect it because dust is not kind to yarn.
@quadbox4 жыл бұрын
Interesting about the dust because most yarn shops here in Italy store them exactly how Alexandra has done in this video.

@shaynaformity13844 жыл бұрын
Finally, a light centered over a crafter's workspace! If the single bulb is not enough light for her, there's even enough space on the island to add a lamp, or a sconce under the shelf to the left, or even a clip-on light (I know, not "cute," but functional if she's not handy with a drill). You nailed the lighting on this one! But a hard metal stool? Weavers need a slanted seat and a bit of cushioning to prevent ischial bursitis (aka weaver's bottom)!

Your office makeovers are my favorite, especially for crafters and creatives! After one of your vids I unboxed all my fabric and cut out 11" cardboard squares to wrap each piece around and provide some structure, and lined them up on a bookshelf in a rainbow. You were right, getting to see my supplies is inspiring! Also-- love the light for this space! I store many of my art supplies in photo storage boxes with labels, about shoe box sized, on a bookshelf. I've found for my needs it's a good size. I have 20 boxes. The categories I use are: bags/boxes, clay, office, glitter, sewing, embroidery, bead & wire, watercolor, stamps, feathers & shells, chalk & dye, ribbon (x2), string, calligraphy, stationary, tape & stickers, CDs, party supplies, craft misc. I have 5 random sized boxes that hold craft paint, acrylic paint, fabric paint, goache, and glues. I'm using hinged boxes for the craft & acrylic paint which is really nice for easier access. I keep brushes in jars/canisters on the shelf (I made some of them with oatmeal canisters and marble contact paper) and I keep all my pens and other writing utensils in a rolling cart in my living room where I'm more likely to want to use them. Additionally I have 6 cardboard moving boxes I've painted and labeled. (Two of them I cut down by 1/3 height, just below the handle, they look nicer thay way and I didn't need the extra space.) Three hold all my past art, one I use for giftwrap and tissue paper, one for fabrics, and one for patterened and color paper. I use a 17"x12" box I got from the container store to keep recent art pieces I might want easy access to in. I keep white paper laid flat and stacked on the shelf, seperated by category by sturdy boards (labeled) slipped between them. Or else upright on the shelves for sketchbooks. And I have a long narrow box I made from styrofoam presentation boards and tape, in my closet, that hold wrapping paper and large sheets of paper and cardboard.
