I was so disappointed with this deck! I didn't purchase it and am SO glad that i waited to see what it looked like. I assumed it would be borderless... AND matte. The other issue with the top title things is that you don't have the option to trim.... ugh. I want the book so bad but I hate the idea of paying so much just to get a deck I know I won't be happy with. If you do trim your second deck down, I would be super curious to see how it turns out.

I'm with ya on that, the production quality was really disappointing. I'm glad to be getting the Tarot of the Crone from the artist rather than the publisher. I might trim it just to see how it looks since I'm still reading with my indie copy. Love the book though, so glad to have that. 🙂 Thank you for watching! ❤️

It is my understanding that the tarot app for this deck has the complete book within it. I don’t have the original so I can’t compare but that’s what I’ve been told.

I purchased the app before the mass market was announced and feel it was worth it for the price-at the time. I either got it on sale or it was inexpensive.

I have the indie version and the app (which is like 4 euros and worth it) as well. It works really well for me to use the app as a guidebook. It's very detailed and user-friendly. After watching this video, I'm comforted in my choice. 😊 Thanks for the comparison ✨ The tarot of the crone is so glossy in its indie version that I had to give it away immediately. Its was nothing like the Dark Goddess.

The mass market deck has been in and out of my Amazon cart probably 15 times. I just can't get over the horrible randomly chosen backs, the intrusive titles and the squished artwork. I think I'll go look at the Crone deck and see if I like it. Thanks for the walkthrough!

I got absolutely the same torn box on the interior. The tearing is in the same place, too. Almost makes me wonder if it was a purposeful thing to get the cards to fit. I would have bought it just to have the book, I have the cards and book already in my phone app but super excited to have the physical deck, despite the gold titles. I plan to trim the side borders but leave top and bottom and see if that helps some of the artwork pop out. Sedna, Ceridwen and Samovila are my favorite cards. Really appreciate hearing your perspective!

My pre-ordered copy came in the exact same condition from Amazon. I returned it and called Schiffer to complain about it. They said the problem was being addressed. I have since picked up the deck from my local Barnes and Noble and the box interior is different. The cards no longer slide all over the place. I wish I had the indie version, but I’m ok with this version, especially because of the book!

I have the mass market version but I wish I could get my hands on the indie. My only real issue with the mass market deck is the banner at the top, which I find distracting. I wish Schiffer would have just used text for both the top and bottom titles like on the indie version. I prefer the original backs but these are fine because I'm not one to be too picky about card backs. I don't mind glossy cards (except for photography purposes because of the glare) so I can live with that too. I do wish they would have made them matte though. And as far as the gold gilding goes I love it - wish all my decks were gilded. Basically, for me, if Schiffer would have made the deck just like the indie version and added the gold guilding it would have been perfect. Shiffer really does need to work on the trays they put in those big boxes though because they damage the cards & guilding. I've had that problem with 3 of their decks now. So frustrating!

I love the big boxes, I sometimes try out putting them in a bag but then I want the boxes back within a week... but this box was not great quality indeed... it is like they cannot commit to a certain box type...

I ordered my copy at the weekend but I'm so disappointed to see those banners. I'd trim them off but it'll cut into the artwork too much. Like you I really wanted the guidebook. Have you seen Anateresa's KZbin video where she turns a large box into a journal cover? Great idea and I'm thinking of trying it, but I do actually like my large boxes!

I am impressed with the quality of the color in the MM printing! (it is more blue rather than purple) I agree about the banner/title not being the best. I am so happy that it got picked up. I am thinking of getting it for the guidebook. Thanks for sharing!

I think you hit the nail on the head about the banners looking like clip art :( (and yes, I think it's most offensive on Hekate where it looks like the banner is sitting on her head). Feels not respectful or mindful of the art itself, you know? The banner, unfortunately, also seems to make it impossible to trim off the borders. However, I will also be purchasing as I don't think I can track down an indie version. I think I'll cut off the gilding and edge in a dark grey. Thanks for doing this review!

A little disappointed with the quality. The borders on some of my cards are uneven and the plastic sleeve holding the cards together was stuck to the gilding so some of the gilding came off

Great comparison! I bought the mass marked edition and I agree that the card design with the banners, gilding and back isn’t great, but it’s better than not owning the deck at all. I would love to know more about how you are using this deck!

This is not the first walkthrough I have seen with a broken box. I have this mass market - I do love it, but agree that the title font is not my vibe. I actually prefer the mass market backs, the indie deck makes me think of mermaids! I was wondering if you were going to do a side by side because I just knew you would get the mass market - pity it isn't borderless, how exciting would that be?!!! Hint hint Schiffer! I plan on diving deep into Goddess work for 2021 so just bonding for the moment, but the book is amazing and happy I added this to my growing collection! P.S. Dawn, I would never mute you! I actually find your voice very soothing.

The text in the mass market edition is REALLY hard to read. I honestly don't know how no one noticed and/or said anything before printing it this way. It's a pity because the deck and its energy are really something special

This deck has been on my list for years, and I might consider snagging it up at some point, but those backs and titles are awful! Don't publishing companies listen to their customers? We've all been going nuts over borderless decks for years, yet Schiffer constantly puts out the gaudiest boarders... I still haven't picked up the Star Tarot because of the boarders. I do love the art of this deck, though, so it may make it's way into my collection soon.
