I love how the director instructed her to look at him crazy at the end, because she just ran across a person who was supposed to be her "real husband" that said the exact same thing! In this moment of time she has no idea of knowing who her husband actually is! It's ambiguous, so the person who actually seems to be the protagonist actually does not know if he's the original because they all will feel and say the same thing from the original split! Just because it's his perspective does not mean he is in fact the original! I like how the show tackles what makes a paradox a paradox!

First off: I'm really enjoying all this "science-y" stuff. If they would have used a "Dark Matter" series as the class syllabus in school, I would have paid more attention. 😀😀 Regarding how "entanglement" works in the show's conclusion, I'm leaning more in the direction that you reject: it's about reuniting Jason1 with all of his clones. From episode 7 onward, I believe that reuniting all of the Jason1s became the central goal of the series. It corrects the science experiment that has gone awry. I don't believe Jason1 can truly return to Daniela and Charlie until he (Jason1) is his "complete" self--which entails reuniting with his numerous Jason1 clones. The difference between Jason1 and Jason2 is that Jason2 rejects all other aspects of himself: he's selfish in every way. He decides to show Daniela's painting at the auction; he decides to buy Charlie a car; he decides to kidnap Jason1, Ryan1 (and God knows who else) to suit his own needs. While there is an aspect of selfishness in Jason1, as seen in the Jason1 clone in the bar who says he'll kill any other Jason so HE can get Daniela; Jason1 (Prime) rejects that totally selfish POV. Jason1 Prime rejects kidnapping the sleeping Jason in the Max World. Jason1 Prime rejects the impulse to have sex with Amanda, which would have been selfish since he doesn't love her. Jason1 Prime must reunite with all of his clones, to be the same person that he was BEFORE he was kidnapped--and be the Jason that Daniela loves and Charlie's father.

Thanks and usual and I for sure don't reject that at all! In our episode 8 Deep Dive I put forth Quantum Convergence, where all the variant Jason's and J1 go on the box and potentially merge. @@thescreensleuths Cool. BTW, that's a good catch about Daniela's self-portrait at the auction being just like her in the Pandemic World that Jason1 and Amanda visited. It does suggest that even while world-hopping with Amanda, Jason1 was still "communicating" with Daniela. She was always on his mind.

The show seems ultimately about choices people make. There is only 1 Jason who made all the choices that he did in his entire life that led him to the moment at the Bean. All the other Jason’s made different decisions and even in the last episode seemed to focus on revenge above of reuniting with his family. What’s wild is that we know all Jason’s are capable of becoming completely unhinged and have a dark side.

Entanglement is not what you described. It says that when one particle's property is determined, then so is the other's, nothing is changed. The only logical analogy would be that all the Jason 1's are entangled, since this is how it occurs at the quantum scale: two entangled particles are descended from a single particle. The rest is just speculation based on a false premise, which logically implies than any deduction is true.

The basic premise is that if you flip a coin that is both heads and tails equally and you observe heads then you know the other is tails. I agree, the rest is fringe theory and speculation, because they show plays with theories. Thanks for the comment! 😀

I haven't read the book (just in case I guessed right:) Can’t stop thinking about the photo of Jason Prime and Amanda taken at a bar in a perfect world. I believe this photo will be in the last scene, hinting to the audience that Daniela will choose the "wrong" Jason.

That is a great point! From a TV perspective you have to ask yourself why they decide to use time for a scene or dialogue. Sometimes it's nothing, but usually it's something. Me and Rob use this thought process a lot when doing From on MGM and Severance 🕵🏻👊🏻 nice call out!!

I think in this case the "better life" is subjective. Many would say the life J2 had, being successful and a renowned scientist was "better" than a college professor and normal life J1 had. But this situation and the one we have now in episode 8 shows the dangers and arrogance of J2. Without the box the realities exist, but can never communicate.

I like the romantic segment of your theory but as a scientist I don’t see how entanglement will work with two different people. Scientifically it should mean the different Jason’s should be entangled. But like you I’m guessing

I agree, classic entanglement does not work like that. But like I said neither does superposition, although the concept stays more true to life just on a larger scale. But the studies about human consciousness and a quantum link are real, so they premise exist and for a TV show about connections, fate, etc I think they could use it in this way. However the idea of the Jason's using it is for sure a possibility, I did mention I think a "mind control" aspect may be a bridge to far, but who knows! Either way thanks for the comment, I love the discussions about the shows as much as the shows themselves ha 🕵🏻

I don't think that any of the Jasons that spawned since Jason 1 began using the box is Jason 1 more so than any other - even the protagonist. Each version of Jason 1 - even the protagonist - is just one of an infinite number of Jasons that have spawned since Jason 1 began using the box.

Yes they are all the same, they have the same general history up to a point, but they have changed by now and technically some physically came to be later than offers.

So yes they are all Jason's and all equally real, the main reality we are focusing on did have a single Jason at one point and that is the one that is what I'm considering J1 and who Daniella has in her mind.

Anyhow, I cannot wait for the season / series finale of _Dark Matter._ I was lucky to stumble upon it a few weeks ago; I binge-watched the first six episodes and loved them. I wonder how the problem of the infinite Jasons will be resolved. I also wonder whether or not the show will address the fact that none of the Jasons that stem from Jason 1 - including the one that we've been following - is Jason 1 more so than any other; they're all equally that Jason.

It would be the link that J1 & her have. His feelings at the time, if they are entangled then these emotions could resonate, like a cosmic echo. This is fringe theory, but the idea of quantum consciousness, people being linked at a deep level. That connection may be how she just knows he is "her" Jason. Remember we aren't sure if there is a limit to the distance these particles can respond to one another. And how the information is transferred or if it's just a connection that we can't understand.

@@realbosstakea do you really think this is a legit possibility? from a narrative standpoint? I'll preface I am a book reader, so I know where this is all going - but if you, as a viewer, took that final scene as suspicious rather than emotional, which the show was giving us visually and thru the music - I feel you may have missed the point. My two cents, anyway. As a viewer, wouldn't that be a huge betrayal of the story so far? We have had 1 protagonist and 1 antagonist for so long - I've known about the new antagonists coming, as all readers were - and I've trusted the story changes from the book to still easily enjoy this show. Ultimately, Daniela talked to ONE Jason at the police station, and told only ONE Jason where to meet her - how could another one be there and with her safe word. I love the theories, but the thought that the Jason at the Bean is none other than our episode 1 Jason is a betrayal of the narrative. Loving the show, love the author, but I also remember his first book to TV adaptation and its season 2 was not part of his book and it was why Wayward Pines S2 was so horrible. So, I am curious if they will finish Dark Matter's book material with this season - and can they give us a cliffhanger that will be good enough for original season 2 material or just end it like the book? I also acknowledge that I could be 100% wrong in my opinion here, and maybe they set the table a new direction for a fascinating premise for S2, I'll go ahead and apologize in advance @realbosstakea if your detective skills were spot on and I missed it. :)

The show is going to need to play with the concept, in its most strict version it shouldn't really be involved at all lol but neither should superposition. I think they are going to use the idea of entanglement in a connection between people. Which to your point is widely fringe and a far cry from two particles dealing with spin, momentum, etc. But yes your right it strays far from real science in terms of the show theory.
