Very creative and I might add beautiful attempt to present my favorite DS time period... 1795. Wonderful images and nice song too. Long live the vampire and Josette!! Wishful thinking..I guess Thank You for posting TB!

Thank you. My DS passion goes back to the very first day in the summer of 1966. Barnabas, as you may know, is my favorite character--a romantic fellow lost in time, his vampirism a hindrance to his humanity.

@Stickchick1969 I'm old enough to remember seeing him on those shows during their original broadcasts, plus one on The Mike Douglas Show, two, I believe, on The Dick Cavett Show. On Cavett's show, he recited this mournful line from Richard II: "Let us sit upon the ground and tell sad stories of the death of kings." He had the audience spellbound. Yes, he was very popular. He came to our town to star in the Windmill Dinner Theater presentation of "Wait Until Dark" back in 1971.

Very nice, ThymeBottle. Always loved the 1795 timeline..so romantic and tragic. Jonathan's performance was superlative. He could say more with his eyes than other actors with a page of dialogue. I must say it pleases me no end that so many DS fans have concocted their own homages to DS..and have done it in a way that really pays loving tribute to the show. If only Tim Burton had accorded that respect to our beloved show!

+Marcia Mornay Thank you for your commentary. He was a superb actor whose eyes relayed some internal emotion and gave his character a commonality which made his frailties all the more human, despite his inevitable curse.

I completely agree. Those eyes of Jonathan Frid's told so much of the story. DS was absolutely mesmerizing. Loved the writing. Loved the acting. Loved it all.

@Stickchick1969 I am as pleased as punch that you like it. I always wanted him to find his Josette. It always fascinates me--the reaction to our quaint little show and Mr. Frid's Barnabas, in particular. 1795 is my favorite time period. I'm a fan from the very first day in 1966. It is an extremely addictive show.

The world of 1795 is a fascinating place. It is Dark Shadows at its most romantic. It lends itself to so many moods. Barnabas and Josette were exquisite in that brief time before the tragedies began. Thanks for viewing.

One of the best videos I've seen of this beloved couple who made the show what it was. Sad that Barnabas could never really find true love everlasting after Josette and was never truly happy after her. Jonathan Frid's portrayal of the reluctant vampire was out of this world and had me mesmerized from day one-I fell in love with him and no one else's portrayal ,not even Johnny Depp's will ever compare.

@AprilMemories Your comments are very much appreciated. I am glad that you enjoyed the video and the music. Jonathan Frid brought so much to the role. His Barnabas was imbued with a depth of being which can only come from a well of emotions both innate and gleaned from the actor's observation of others. He allows us to see the man before the monster which his character subdues at every chance. It is a performance that transcends time.

I know, my friend, "It's hard to say goodbye..." I look at his dear face as he stands by the fireplace in 1795--eternally young and handsome--the candles flickering in the background. He was so loved and will be missed greatly.

@@TeamYonny Ah...we who admired him feel the same way. Mr. Frid was a kind, gentlemanly type, with a great sense of humor, and very approachable. I was fortunate to meet and speak with him at four DS conventions in the 1980s. At one, I presented him a pencil on canvas portrait of Barnabas, circa 1795; at another, I had the honor of hearing him read a part of my poem "The Tale of the Tomb Gate Spire", written specifically for the character of Barnabas.

@Stickchick1969 It tickles me to read and hear the reactions of new DS fans who are discovering Mr. Frid for the first time. I was watching the Leviathan/Parallel Time 1970 discs the other night and was amazed at how much sympathy I had for him as the vampire curse returned. He is a commanding presence: eyes, voice, movements, and a face for the shadows. Willie freed the best vampire ever; a good place to begin. I agree about 1795; wish they were using that era in the new movie.

Chatroomchi: That scene, long a favorite, is from 1840 PT, the Bad/Good Barnabas Affair. I was so glad when he got his hair cut because when Good Barn took over Bad Barn (I know, lol.), he has this brushy, rumpled hair like he's been asleep somewhere--imagine that! He wears his 1795 yellowed shirt with his new open-front suit coat, later to become a frilly white one, and those riding boots which seem old-fashioned by 1840. Clothing, hair, and makeup for him do improve-best since 1795.. : )

@Hamstergirl71 If you're a newbie to DS, then, welcome on behalf of all of us old-timers! It's an addictive show. There are so many great characters and fascinating tales to explore. I hope that you are able to get the entire series. How nice of them to come out with the complete series which won't take up so much room. I still have over 200 VHS tapes and the boxes of DVD's. I couldn't wait to receive the VHS tapes at $19.95 per four episodes when released in 1989..
