I really do enjoy hard games but until the difficulty gets unfair, (bugs, glitches - not patched, or maybe all bugs patched and skull crushingly hard) that's when the dust on my controller grows. Dark Souls is fine for me but Taurus Demon will have a special place in my hell

@@aidyplays1013 For me, it wasn't the Taurus Demon. He was a pain. My little shithead was the Gargoyles before you ring the BoA in the tower. That was a three day battle.

Just picked up DS1R. It felt super sluggish and clunky. But I got a little better hang of the timings and mechanics now. I enjoy the game, but I feel it's overwhelming with all the stats, secrets, gear. I'm not much for reading everything in depth, but more just playing and getting further. Which is tough in a soulslike. E.g. I started running towards the graveyard in the beginning and had a bad time, actually quit the game until I found there's another way. I just don't like having to look up playthroughs and guides every few hours

Thank you for people like you and channels that do videos like this. Dark Souls has a learning curve more than other action games. To me it sort of has a Monster Hunter feel in that way but it doesn't give a lot of tutorials or explanations. My first 15 hours was just trial and error and then I deleted my file after learning some basics and am doing a bit of research to make my play-through the best possible.

Yeah so the genre is actually called "Souls-like". SoulsBourne refers to the FromSoftware Games: Demon's souls, Dark Souls 1,2,3 and Bloodborne.

To me as a new player, Dark Souls feels like Diablo had a baby with Zelda. The maps interconnect in a way you see in twilight princess, the bosses to my reference are pretty zelda like, big with a specifique tactic to beat it. But the vibe, the colors, the music, npc make me think of Diablo . And the difficulty is set to hard by default. not nightmarish since enemy respawn only when you sit by the fire, more forgiving.

Your comment is a week old so I'll assume you've done it already. But just in case here's how I did it. I'm terrible so it still took a few tries. But I did it eventually. You'll probably have better luck than me; 1. Kill all enemies near him. 2. Walk VERY slowly up behind him (gently push the thumbstick). When next to him get a heavy attack (R2/RT) in or a couple of light attacks (R1/RB) then run away. 3. Lure him up to the wider courtyard (where there's a ladder leading up to three enemies who throw firebombs and a tower with an archer on top) 4. Get him to the middle and stay close to him 5. While holding your shield up and locking on to him start walking to the right, making circles around him. 6. Wait for him to attack. When he's finished his attack (he should miss you completely or hit your shield), attack him once or twice then continue walking around him. 7. It will take a while given his health and your weapon, but be patient until he dies. 8. If you need to use an estus or two to recover, stop locking on to him and run to the ladder and climb up. He doesn't follow you up there so you have plenty of time to recover. You can even try a plunge attack. 9. Good luck.

I had the exact same thing happen to me this past weekend. I had to "fight" through the ghosts in New Londo (below the starting point) to get uncursed, then went back and got cursed again and nearly gave up myself. This taught me to not let the frogs puke on me and curse me all over again. I'm glad I didn't give up.

some of this game is hard yes but not all of it if you know when going into it that the monsters are not gonna be easy dont go in thinking this is easy nope your gonna get your ass kicked more ways to sunday just dont be nervous you be fine if your take every enimey slowly unless there is more then 1 on screen alot of fans start freaking out and mess up very early if you take a deep breath watch a starters guide on what to pick as a starters gift and which path not to go first you'll be fine DONT go to the skeleton path thats for mid level stick to either the knight or hero as magic is for the advance if your not good at aiming your spells your screwed and i pitty your sanity if you choose Deprived/naked as that is for the hardcore players only they start with no armor, good luck

Soulsboure games don’t need a definition, it’s literally a franchise plus a few very similar games made by the same people. It’s not a sub genre with a complicated definition, it’s a franchise that features a list of 7 games. It’s like calling ‘call of duties with nuketown’ a sub genre.

So I decided to give this game a try. Made a character, reached the first boss then spent 2 hours trying to kill him with the starting weapon then I realized that I'm supposed to run past him until I get better weapons which is stupid in my opinion. Why couldn't I get a proper weapon before the boss fight? Because of this I thought that the rest of the game works the same way so I decided to not bother with it for now. Maybe some day I'll give it another try, who knows? At least I'll know what kind of stupid things to expect from it.
