I went in blind. I'm in chapter V now... I'm 150 hours into the game. Someone on KZbin beat the whole thing in 20 hours. I locked myself out of 4 major plot points THAT I KNOW OF. Im screwed.

7:15 "Igni is really weak so I didn't use it"... Dude... I played this game quite a while ago but I remember I had a sign build. Upgraded igni just broke the game. At some point, you get a 360-degree igni attack. It does more damage than combat attacks with swords. Usually, two or three igni shot killed whole groups of tough enemies. No only is igni powerful, it is overpowered. At the end of the game (because like you said combat can be repetitive) you just igni the enemies a few times instead of engaging in a lengthy battle. and it kills them all.

I just finished it and I have to agree. Igni was (too) great and using even a couple of potions (in normal) made it so easy but the combat was also something I grew to absolutely LOVE and miss it a lot now that I started 2. I even did almost ALL the side quests in this game but playing the second I don’t feel like doing them at all. I don’t know why people don’t play it more/at all.

& You need Igni to detonate dragon's dream and can be useful if you have to brew potions and you don't have a flint

Ohhh, you are sooo damn right. I upgraded igni to maximum and... Everything around me was burning like in hell and it was hard for me to reach 0% of endurance due to very fast regeneration of it. When I was fighting fhe final boss of the games I was able to spam igni constantly. The swordfight wasn't even necessary. So i was sorcerer, not a witcher xD

You weren't kidding about it being clunky. I quit playing it threw times in the prologue chapter since I first got it. I'm now on my fourth attempt and I've actually gotten into it this time. I'm glad I gave it another chance. The game part isn't exactly fun, but the characters are interesting.

I've got a tip that i figured out on my own that i don't think is common knowledge: When you need to restore vitality faster you can consume upto 4 vitality buffs - 1 from a potion, 1 from a meat food item, 1 from a sweet/fruit food item, and 1 from a fish item. i keep my swallow potions on the hotbar to free up an inventory slot and only keep 5 each of a meat and fruit. the type or value of meat/fruit/fish doesn't change their effective healing rate as they all give a "weak" buff, but they stack

I think, it is indeed a nice game in its own way. However for me, I have to role-play it really hard, to keep myself interested and entertained, which is not bad, and is good to slow down sometimes. Compared to this, the second game (and I think the third as well, but I haven't played that yet eh) is much faster. The thing I love the most is basically the studio, and the people who made it. I mean the game feels like it's really not perfect and doesn't try to be, but at the same time it was made with so much heart, and there is a great amount of content.

My tip: when your in chapter 1 kill a crap load of barghats you get 50 orens a 10 stack from the witch and helps with early orens.i mean theres like unlimited barghats and you can easily rack up 2k orens in an hour of slaying these bad pups.

poker is faster lol, save and gamble away. You get to meet a professional by the time you hit chapter 2 and you usually hit chapter 2 accidently early on anyways

I've recently realized how much I like The Witcher franchise and yes, this first game is the one I started from. It can get really cool if you like this kind of games, although it has a lot of stuff that sounds cool on paper but that you won't use at all, even on hard difficulty, but I love it's duration, how characters tell you all about the lore and, I will give a piece of advice to everybody, when starting a new chapter, complete side quests before beginning the story quests, because that way you will gain much more experience and you will become much stronger and better than if you only do story missions (if you make a good use of the skill tree). I really like the game and this video was fun and actually useful, so thanks a lot for it!

It did, but mainly because we play pc games. Console pissants dont like or understand games that take any kind of thought or effort. Notice for witcher 2 and 3 they had to rip out 99% of the rpg mechanics, because console pissants just dont understand anything

I went 3, and it became my favorite game of all time, then since I only had an xbox 1 and no PC, I then bought and beat witcher 2 twice (both pathways on dark difficulty) then I repeat witcher with all dlcs on deathmatch. My chick has a super cheap laptop from 2016 for college. I just recently, 3 days ago, went to the gog website and witcher 1 enhanced was only 99 cents. I thought fuck it even if it doesnt work, it's just a dollar. AND IT WORKED AND IM LOVING IT. Oh and btw halfway through reading the books and I counted down the days for the netflix show to air, followed it for over a year until it finally released. I fell in love with geralt and this universe, no other game comes close besides ocarina of time and halo 1-3

Don't listen to this guy telling you to ignore signs... Aard will let you insta kill most of the games enemies and Igni becomes an overpowered fire storm eventually overtaking Aard in usefulness. Yes, obviously don't waste your skill points earlier in the game completely on signs and balance it out between the sword abilities first.

Actually I began playing the games with the first one. :D One quick note: I preferred Igni. At the beginning it was weak but I developped only this one (and Aard a bit) and during the last chapters it was lethal even in boss fights. ;-) But all in all your video is a pretty good job!

Brand new to pc gaming. Happy to start with enhanced. Became a fan from the Netflix show. In my Witcher era and working on my own leather Netflix season one brown armor for cosplay and Ren Faires. Also have a real wood Gwent board and real card decks. We have the Witcher: Adventure Boardgame, the all in Kickstarter Old World game board Kickstarter set (not played yet) and ordered the Witcher: Path of Destiny board game all in set. Btw, my original question was, when you start a new game it gives you a choice of game modes "Witcher" or "New adventures". And I'm not sure which to pick. What is the difference? I'm a Witcher 3 junkie. I'm in my 8th playtrough but started Witcher 1 two weeks ago and I love it. You have to get used to this gameplay but I love the story and getting to know the history of the characters. The thing I HATE is you have to WALK so much haha. No roach or fast travel. That sucks. What I love about this game is that the builds are a bit overwhelming in the beginning Also the fighting. I did not understand at first that you have to wait for the flaming sword and then click. In the beginning I just kept on clicking and of course it didn't work out. Thanks for this vid!

Thanks for the tips. If I could add one of my own, I'd suggest going to the swaps early on and killing as many Bloedzuigers, Drowners and Ghouls as possible. Apart from helping boost your stats, those monsters all contain chemicals which can fetch tidy prices with Kalkstien. I spend entire playing sessions in the swaps killing all around me..😉

love your enthussiasm. hope you enjoy the PC gaming space. and try to experience this game with an open mind. its actually one of the more unliked games in the series. it had some problems, and not a lot of people liked it. witcher 2 fixes all of that, but it also made the combat harder. I'm personally glad they did. but im not sure how it would go for someone new to games ^^. nevertheless. hope you enjoy more video games in the future! ^^

I really suggest playing the game with Full Combat Rebalance mod. It adds an actual working dodge mechanic (similar to bloodborne dodge), an parry mechanic (Geralt will parry enemies that are right in front of him, in some degree), it makes alchemy better, it completely rebalance character progression making it way better, rebalance Signs, combat styles, and most important, makes combat way more engaging and faster, you no longer can stay in one place, and chain combos, you need to actively moves, not to get surrounded (hit in the back are pretty lethal), and dodge attacks. Recommended for everyone.

I went ahead and got the series when it was on sale and I enjoyed playing up until the second chapter with a pack of wyverns and the special blade. See I did well and got the sword, however about a hour later I had died after I went through a cutscene, exited and entered many buildings, and somehow never once got a auto save all that time. Then I was back at the wyverns.

Keybinding tip...make two keys, one for steel sword and the other silver next to each other. There is no reason to have 3 keys for strong, fast or group. If you click the key to draw either steel or silver sword then all you have to do to change fighting styles is click the key that you used to pull out the sword that you are using. As for signs, aard and igni are the only ones to waste pts. into.

I bought The Witcher 3 a while ago on sale, but somehow never played it. Last week I wanted to play, but then figured I'd rather start from the beginning and bought the first part. This was really helpful to feel alittle more acquainted since I sometimes feel overwhelmend when starting new games. I just finished the first chapter, and so far I like it. PS: I also noticed the different running speeds, but did't make a connection to the fighting style.

And one tip for people who get drunk and fight those plants vs zombies inspired pumpkins pulling your sword out will allow you to run instead of stumble everywhere once your done as when your drunk the effects can last quite a while

I had it on my pc back when it first came out, got really far into it and thought it was like no other. Nowadays TW3 is a masterpiece and I still roll a character out every so often. I've just started playing the game recently and I have 25 hours in it already. One thing I'm not enjoying is the inconsistency of quest difficulty. Some are ridiculously easy and others and near impossible. In the 3rd act (might be second can't remember precisely) in the sewers you raid the base of Salamandra and there were SOO many enemies. It took me at least 12 attempts to get close to beating it

i've always wanted to play The Witcher Trilogy for so long, it's because i've never really have a gaming PC (because i'm basically poor lol), and now i finally have a decent gaming laptop and plus there's an autumn sale on Steam that makes this game really cheap, so i just bought the Trilogy and this really helps me thank you.. I played the first one when the second one was released. So worth playing them In order because each game just gets better and more defined. I’m into playing older games because we’ve become spoiled with graphics and production quality nowadays.

I recently started playing the witcher 3 but stopped after 15 hours in order to play though both the witcher 1 & 2 so im now in the third act of the first game

honestly, the ctrl-click tip made me not deinstall the game (found it on another video before this one ^^) everyone's like "pick up everything" and i'm like "but i want less than 50% of my gameplay to be spent collecting" after multiple tips videos, i'm still unsure on how exactly i'm supposed to kill the plant-monsters in the swamps, that's what i was actually looking for xD

If you can't kill it, then don't thats how witcher games usually are. just level up a bit, avoid the plant creatures, and go back to it once your geared up enough. also check the bestiary for what it's weaknesses is. the journal is your friend ^^

@@EllieMenopy the issue with that is that i haven't met any archespores except for the Coccacidium throughout all of act II, so i didn't even know what i was looking for. my strategy was to quen (as soon as i got it) and run xD my biggest irritation with that is that it's stronger than the chapter II boss, although it appears pretty early in the same chapter my first attempt at it was actually to igni it, which proved ineffective, although that's the way to do it according to the beastiary

The quen in the first game is used a) for treating your wounds, b) when you forgot to make a Cat potion and do not have a torch 😌

I start first game after play the Witcher 3, and I think this game mechanic same as the Witcher 3 but old graphic and damn WTF it is. Now I realize to finish this game because I like this franchise no matter that gameplay mechanic thanks for the video for guide me for better when understand the mechanic gameplay 👍
