Keep in mind, there's a lot of overlap between those two groups. I took about an hour to defeat Taurus Demon. Now, an hour means reaching Anor Londo.

A Great Scythe +15 can overtake a Black Knight Halberd +5 quite easily, and it doesn't take much longer to do. 14 Strength, and 40 Dexterity (minumum of SL32 for any starting class) will put the Great Scythe on an attack rating of 474, adding Charcoal Pine Resin will bring the attack rating up to 554, and Gold Pine Resin will bring the attack rating to 624, add the bleed damage to that, and you have a halberd type weapon that outclasses a Black Knight Halberd +5.

Hey, just a little tip; if you summon a phantom but then immediately go through the boss fog, you can avoid the health boost to the boss. So you can have Mildred with you and still have the boss at the normal health amount.

The fastest way to get to him is out the door where Havel is located. Just wait until Havel comes up the stairs close to you then jump and roll and make for the door. Havel WILL follow you outside but will turn around as soon as he reaches whatever the range limit they have for him. Just don't stand near the door. if you keep to the left you will quickly get to the place with the Black Knight. The weapon is just crazy against anything classified as a demon.

At a rough estimate, it takes me about 45 minutes to upgrade a Great Scythe to +15 from starting a new game, and twenty minutes extra isn't a great deal when you've got a very useful weapon like that for PvE, and PvP. It takes a little longer than getting the Gravelord Sword, or a Black Knight weapon sure enough, but that's fine with me. Can't say I agree on a Black Knight Halberd being easier to use than a Great Scythe, the others, maybe. It comes down to experience with each weapon I suppose.

The stupid thng about this is is that its going to be the hardest part of the game for you. So you're making yourself OP, so the rest of the game will be easy for you because if you're good enough to do this the game wont be too hard anyway

I'd rather take a Great Scythe. It's lighter, easier to upgrade, does about the same damage as a BKH, and requires less stats to equip. But hey, that's just me.

I preffer the BK because it makes more damage with less stats, and is a lot easier to upgrade. Before the Gargoyles you can have it +5 and with full damage relatively easily. But well, the Great Scythe is another great weapon too ^^

As a speedrunner, I see so many little time saves that could make this a LOT faster. Quelaag is way faster without Mildred, as the BKH can stunlock her with its downward attack. It MIGHT be faster to kill Ceaseless normally, but I would have to test that, as you're doing a lot more damage in the actual BKH route than you would be here. And, as you mentioned, the Blightdown drop would shave at least a minute off. Still a pretty fast way to become game-breaking.

Great vid. I did this last exact run last night and it took me about an hour. Queelag took about 4 tries. Pretty much any time I start a new char, I reference one of you videos as a starting point.

I have two things to add to this already pretty great guide even though it maybe a little late. 1. You can infinitely stun lock Quelaag by standing directly in front of her face and swinging straight down with the halberd making the fight at least 60% faster. 2. Time on the character select screen does NOT include loading screen time.

With regards to what Ayriak says at the end of the video, Anastacia died for me after: 1) Collecting the undead parish fk soul 2) Ringing the undead parish bell 3) Setting Lautrec free, exhausting his dialogue options in his cell and at the firelink shrine (paid for no advice) 4) Collecting the blighttown fk soul Went back to Firelink, she was dead, had not rung Queelag's bell, had not collected new Londo fk soul.. You didn't have to run all the way back to Andre, the guy down the steps can upgrade your black knight weapons with twinkling, saving you 2-3 minutes.

Hey man. Thanks for the awesome tip. Just something that I noticed. I killed the black Knight 15 times in a row with the first hit (he fell off) and I didn't get the halberd. The next time I killed him just stabbing in the back and I did get the halberd. Maybe you get more chance to get the item if you take an amount of life from him before making him fall from the edge. Or killing him without making him fall. This game's awesome!!!

I would recommend getting the Black Knight Greataxe instead. You can get it roughly the same time getting it, you can use a summon to kill the Black Knight. Plus you can kill one of the easiest bosses in the game while down there and get a nice helmet early on.

The single hardest thing in all this is timing the attacks on Quelaag. You need to avoid the AoE attack as it is an instant kill on a low level player. An overhead swing whilst Quelaag breathes lava, then retreating and then repeating works best. Of course game knowledge helps immensely.

Elemental weapons split their damage into two categories, which means that each of those attack ratings has to go through each of the enemy's respective defenses. Thus, less damage dealt overall than an equivalent, normally upgraded weapon. Plus normal weapons can be enchanted/buffed, which makes a big difference. The tradeoff is that elemental weapons can be easily upgraded and have no stat requirements beyond base for maximum effectiveness.

Diamond Dog The correct "English" word for it would be "glaive". I'm guessing its an error caused by the fact that all bladed pole weapons (that aren't spears) are just "naginata" in Japanese so translating correctly into the myriad of different European names would require a fairly decent knowledge of medieval weaponry that the average translator probably doesn't have.

The black knight weapons are very good for pve. The sword and the halberd hits like trucks. You should also find yourself a shield. Black knight shield is really OP too.

I got the Black Knight Halberd early in the game. As the Knight swung at me he hit me and we both fell off together in a crazy whirlwind of pain but he dropped the Black Knight Halberd. And yes I was using it all through my first Real Playthough. Black KNight Sword is cool too.

If you mean to just obtain the weapon, then yes, it takes much less time. If we were to make comparisons on each weapon fully upgraded, then we have to take into account the time taken for materials needed, souls and levels needed, and the cost of each upgrade. Fully upgrading a Black Knight weapon takes less than half an hour, and I'd estimate the Gravelord Sword would take roughly the same amount of time as a Great Scythe to fully upgrade.

It's sleeping. The two items clutched between its claw and head cause it to awaken from its slumber when you loot them. Its the Astora's Straight Sword and Dragoncrest shield.

If you came from the blight town, you can lure them to follow you and climb down the leader before they get close to you, those giants will try to follow you and end up doing a suicide jump. You can also use a bow to provoke them and lure 1 of them out to separate them from the rest and kill them 1 by 1.

I got lucky and on my first casual playthrough I'm doing right now I got BKS from the first Black Knight I met. Despite this I find this game much harder than DS3.

some parts of it are harder and others much easier, and just a side note, the BKS is really good, but the halberd is just goddamn broken if you can wield it. it says it does about the same dmg, but the halberd is waaaayyy above the other BK weapons

Something you didn't mention, it's not 100% guaranteed to work, but you can get 500-1,500 souls from the 3 mobs in the tunnel between Valley of the Drakes and Blighttown by making them jump off the edge when you reach the first ladder in Blighttown.

That is the point, if she lock-on Maneater all the time, Maneater will not be able to deal much damage because she will get buried in a raspberry jam made by Quelaag It doesn't take a minute for Quelaag to switch her target to you, she will often switch her target depend on you or your phantom who deal more damage, with Maneater pawning her ass and you nailed her naked body with arrow, Quelaag can be stunlock depending on your precise and bow's ATK she may not be able to lay her..on you at all

The thing is that you get to anor londo (as quick as possible) then you get the dragon tooth (before you have to farm some upgrades) and finally you upgrade it up to +15 and you use a buff which will give you amazing damage

So, after doing this, I went to Dark Root Garden, to try and get the cat covenant, but obviously, "Cannot join this covenant when phantom is present". So, after waiting a bit for those pesky intruders, I got not one but TWO of them, and, during my violent flailing of the weapon, I killed the phantom that was trying to sneak a backstab on me; then finishing the second guy off with ease. This weapon at +5 so early into the game is a blessing against invaders, it truly is.

The Parish and blighttown areas are the keys to Anastasias' death, If you either ring both bells, or take both firekeepers souls in the areas, she will die. Newlondos firekeeper souls has zero influence on anastasia's status.
