It's been brought to my attention that I missed a real true honor of the accomplishment of beating Dark Souls II without dying or lighting a bonfire to get the secret rings. I didn't know about it, I was under the gun trying to get this video done in time today. Rest assured I will make a video in the future that will showcase this and update everyone. Sorry for the hiccup, sometimes we miss things. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen. Also sorry for saying Drangleic wrong. - Jirard

Completion bonuses do exist. Beat the game and DLCs and enter Vendrick's Memory: while you're wearing a Crown you no longer become Hollow when you die. You resurrect into a human. The undead curse is now a blessing as you are still immortal but can never go hollow. This ability is removed when entering New Game+ so it's only real use is for pvp! Dunkey's Long Lost Son Yeah, but me saying I hate it was probably too strong a term. I had fun playing Dark Souls 2, but that ticking clock thing kinda killed it for me. Demon Souls felt a little better in that they took it away all at once instead of incrementally
@Badalight8 жыл бұрын
I agree with him, but I like Demons Souls. The mechanic was stupid, but Demons Souls was the first in the series. They fixed it in Dark Souls 1. Going back to it in DS2 was a step backwards, so in my mind that's what makes it bad. The Estus Flasks were a brilliant take and fix on the healing system.
@trissandvia3508 жыл бұрын
Badalight DS3 and Bloodborne (in that order) are my favorites personally. Dark Souls 1 was never a game I never got into mainly because when I first tried to get into it I was bad at games and had very little patience. Now I think I would enjoy it a lot more if I tried.
@Badalight8 жыл бұрын
Fizzwidget That's understandable. I've been into the series since Demons Souls (Which is a lot more unfair and unforgivable and poorly designed) so Dark Souls was literally just an improvement in every way to a game I already really loved. I thought it was basically the perfection of all the concepts Demons Souls introduced. At the same time, it didn't rest on its laurels and it introduced new stuff as well (Like covenants).

some good points very good points... but two in my mind has the better control that is one thing that kept me from enjoying the first one, not to mention the early game hallows do way to much damage and have inconsistent hit boxes(at least in my version anyway) , shields are useless and you cant avoid damage unless you roll a lot but i never have been good at rolling. now to stop ranting i can see why people like one over two it has a far better story and locals but the opening is just not fun for me unlike two i love that opening its fun to play through but the opening to one (past the asylum demon that was fun and a great challenge) was not fun for me i have almost given up playing one but i'll try one more time so until i get further in the first one i will consider two the better game. sorry for taking so much of your time reading this i hope you have a good day and as always "PRAISE THE SUN" ... sorry had to.

brewer& co Dark Souls isn't a pushover. Unlike Dark Souls 2, where you can just casually stroll through with little effort, DS1 makes you earn your passage to the rest of the game. According to Steam, around 20% of people who have played Dark Souls haven't even beaten the first boss. In Dark Souls 2, the first boss, The Last Giant, is so pathetic that I beat it first try with no damage. The painfully easy enemies in the opening area of the game are more of a threat!

I LOVE Dark Souls 1 and 3, Demon's Souls and Bloodbourne. To me Dark Souls 2 is a piece of shit that tries so hard to be difficult without having any context on why the games before it were so difficult and how they handled it so well. I would go into huge amounts of detail but I feel MatthewMatosis' Dark Souls 2 Critique video summed up almost every single bad aspect about the game perfectly and explains in detail how its design choices are regressive compared to the previous Souls titles and it's made even worse when there was absolutely no effort made to fix the issues in Scholar of the First Sin. I know Miyazaki has little to do with the second game but that just shows how little other people understand his solid design philosophy. It's a shame really because Dark Souls 2 does have some great qualities like the improved multiplayer systems and if they just stuck to what worked so well with Dark Souls 1's mechanics and refined them rather than allowing enemies to spin around like they're on merry-go-rounds for a bullshit sense of "challenge" then it could have been an amazing game.

Blue Blooded Fiend Those two, my friend are called the illusory ring of the exalted and the illusory ring of the conqueror. One is obtained by not dying at all and the other is surprise surprise no bonfires. I have defeated the game without dying. As a souls veteran I dare to say, that I am rather good at dark souls. I still fail to defeat the game without using any bonfires. The durability and healing do get a little bit limited. The rings makes your left and right hand weapons invincible. This is really usefull for pvp since the other player is unable to tell what weapons you're using. Other than that, it's useless.

It's a cool reward, but I ultimately only did it due to wanting to see all the dlc to its completion. This is as such as it only affects your current playthrough. It may not be a completion bonus but more of a challenge bonus. Finish the game w/o dying and or using any bondfires to get the sweet rings of invisible weaponry. RIP my dead save file that has 900+ hours on it with those rings

Am I the only one who noticed that during most of the footage in this video he is in the Company of Champions? That covenant reduces the damage dealt by the player in 20% and raises the damage dealt by enemies in 33%. That’s probably why he thought Dark Souls 2 was so hard.

Wait, it does? I played through like half of it in that covenant, offline, though. I didn't really care much about the covenants and that happened to be the one I had. That would explain some things.

I'm already a veteran when it comes to the souls series, but for those who aren't, this is such a perfect video to watch because it covers all the aspects of the game and in such an easy to watch way. The slight comedy just topped it off. Well done brother, I'll be looking out for more videos!

It wasn't like that when Demon's Souls was first released. Ever since the release of Dark Souls (2011), the ever increasing popularity of "Lets Plays", Twitch, and people stroking their ego, the series has had those fans that gave the series a bad taste, but I still enjoy each game and some of the fanbase, like EpicNameBro and A German Spy.

@dollenrm9 жыл бұрын
+David Lussier and he mispronounced a bunch of other stuff, didn't even mention the optional boss darklurker. didn't actually complete the game anyway since he didn't get the rings for no bonfire and no death play through didn't mention vendricks crown that prevents hollowing which is literally a completion bonus. the main problem was the lies in the dark souls 1 deadlock video.

It was only during my second playthrough that I noticed 'Nashandra' was the same person as the Queen of Dranleic. I really like some aspects about this game, but man the story is so obscure and easy to completely miss while you're frustrated with the levels that lack proper checkpoints leading up to a boss. I also missed the DLC areas on my first run. When I encountered them during my second run (which was a lot less frustrating than the first one, yeez) I realised I was lucky not to try them when I played the game for the first time, because those were just a saltmine.
