unfortunately, the theory that Solaire was the forgotten son on Gwyn was disproven when Gwyn’s ACTUAL forgotten son appears in Dark Souls 3. It is heavily debated that a special encounter with a giant worm (called a Carthus Sandworm, the theorized final form of a sunlight maggot) in Dark Souls 3 is what actually became of Solaire, but it’s not 100% grounded. Solaire’s equipment can be found in Dark Souls 3 if you trade with some special birds. \[T]/ praise the sun!

Solaire wasn’t the actual son of Gwyn. Gwyn’s actual son showed up in dark souls 3 as the nameless king. I would recommend that you guys watch vaati’s videos on the age of duskborn and age of stars endings in elden ring.

Loved that his armor and sword are not blessed nor enchanted, he's just a Jolly badass with incredible training. Also that he painted a sun on his shield seems like he's determine to find his own.

Dear old Solaire of Astora, the main symbol of Jolly co-operation between Chosen Undead! Shame he had to end tricked and controlled by a sunlight maggot even though he was only seeking his own sun, and to clarify, he's not the son of Gywn, nor a god of war, he's merely a knight of Astora seeking his own sun, which is why his bad ending hits so hard, since you have to kill the person who helps you out the most during battle, somebody who's oh so joyous and full of purpose, and yet, deceived by a false sun that forces you to put him out of his misery.

The story doesnt hit nearly as hard if you haven't played the game. Dark Souls is a dark game, as in the name, in the sense that seemingy everything is against you. Solaire is one of the few instances someone is not only friendly to you, but seems to have any hope in this world. He contrasts with the darkness, just like the sun. He is hopeful, determined, friendly, selfless, in a world where everything is the opposite. Seeing him go insane is legitimately one of the saddest moments in this game. He is pretty much the only person you can call a friend, and yet you see him crumble mentally and have to put hi down yourself. You only get the video if you already know about it.

What stings about Solaire, is that he's likely your first friend in dark souls. He has a ton of bosses he can help you with, but in the end, his story is about the same as everybody else.

Yeah, Solaire is looked upon in the Dark Souls community as a godlike being and he is a very lovable character in a sense. You can actually save Solaire if you give the Fair Lady 30 humanity and can kill a sunlight maggot which is the same being that attaches to Solaire and wear it as a helmet which will illuminate the area. But unfortunately this in turn doesn't really result in a happily ever after either. I would definitely recommend watching Vati's video on the Sisters of Chaos as I feel is an even more heartbreaking and depressing story. I would also say Siegmyer of Catarina is another good one but it is sad as well as it starts off hopeful but ends tragically. Both of these Vati has remastered as well. Lastly, always praise the sun.

The theory of Solaire being the Firstborne of Gwyn was debunked after this video was orriginally made as we do get to meet the Firstborne Son in Dark Souls III. Where he is known as "The Nameless King", he is a difficult secret boss that lives in a hidden temple dedicated to the old Dragons, we can assume that the crime he was disowned and banished for commiting, was allying with the remnants of the Dragons after the war between Dragons and Lords. This ironically lead him, a god of war, to live a peacefull existence in harmony with the dragons of "Archdragonpeak" at the point where we meat him he has even formed a deep bond with "The Lord Of The Storm" a medium sized feathered dragon that he rides into battle on, when we mortally wound the stormlord, the Nameless King puts him out of his misery and absorbs his soul as is tradition among battlebrothers in Anor Londo (Ornstein and Smough do this in their bossfight in Dark Souls 1).

the fight scene against solair was there to let you hear how he was driven mad... that was the point where people should cry, but its very silent and you two also talked about the fight instead of listening, which is understandable as i tried to listen for it and it still barley could hear.
