1) Denmark does not have high mountains. As far as I know, Denmark doesn’t have ANY mountains. 2) Was a Piper Cub with an American star dropping surrender leaflets on Denmark in 1940? 3) German steel is OK for railroad tracks and structural elements but doesn’t have the right composition for the fine tool steels required for weapon mechanisms. Churchill wanted to bomb Swedish steel production sites, but the British didn’t have bombers with enough range AND Sweden was neutral. Would it have joined Germany after a Royal Air Force attack? Even today Norwegians are sore about Sweden’s neutrality and supplying tool steel to Nazi Germany BUT . . . 1) Sweden provided safe haven for the Norwegian resistance raiders who bombed the heavy water plant; 2) Sweden provided safe haven for Max Magnusson and the Norwegian resistance fighters who kayaked up to German battleships and stuck magnetic mines on their hulls and sank a few of them.
@DanThomas1161

If Sweden was really neutral, they wouldn't be supplying ingredients necessary (essential) for the German War machine. Offering safe haven to few rebels (made no difference in any way) was nothing but a political ploy for regional sensibilities. Sweden was not neutral. It was a very important German (key) ally. Sweden knew what they were doing exactly well.

@@halburd1 you learn that from tik Tok huh? Norsk Hydro began producing heavy water in 1934, Norway became the first country with a commercial heavy-water plant. The Nazi invasion of Norway in 1940 transferred control of the plant-and most of the world's heavy water-to Germany.

You know what I think is funny ish , the engenders and farmers, people in general back then they thought things through. Like these days we watch a two minute move or go to school and we told things but we don't think it through or question anything. Back then people told you you couldn't do something and you said why not , someone said this is how it works and when you see it not working out like they say your told shut up you don't know any better. For example the old jeeps back then they dropped in crates and soldiers put them together in like half an hour and were off and they went through horrible muddy conditions ,gold , Fluds , and worse.....these days on the farm I've got a buggy specifically built for farm work by great engineers , and it breaks down from little things all time , can't tow or carry bugger all and gets clogged up with mud in the engine area that takes hours of water blasting to clean out . We have lost so much common sense and engineering abilities to intellectual things that are supposed to be better but aren't
