Man that tone at 3:20 is soooo beautiful. wonderful playing

Darkglass sent me a message saying the touch sensors are designed to be used against the floor. And indeed - that works like a charm and all the time. My fault.
@gleventhal6 жыл бұрын
Maybe you should put it through a loop pedal and then use the effect so that we know the player isnt adjusting, even subconsciously.

Thanks great review. I have been playing bass for 35 years and never really dove into to what compressors can do, I just use the one in my amp and never adjust it. This is intriguing.

Wow I can't believe how similar the FET option really is to the 1176. Sounds great.

Hello, I have got the Darkglass B7K Ultra and have recently being using a Helix LT. I don't really dig the Helix Darkglass simulation but I am REALLY comfortable with not carrying amps to gigs anymore. Do you think that the Darkglass BK7 Ultra would work well with a power amp like the Seymour Duncan Powerstage 170 and straight to the PA so I can get a powerful sound through the monitors which is what I am doing with the Helix LT at the moment? I am thinking about buying that power amp and also a Hyper Luminal Compressor and sell the Helix LT. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks!

How do you think this compressor stands against the Orange Kongpressor? Especially since it's almost twice as expensive than the Kongpressor.

Hi, Gregor! Great review. Even if the Super Symmetry got discontinued there are still some to be found on the market and, since I´m not sure wether to buy one of them or the Hyper Luminal, I wanted to ask you which one of both you find more complete and why. Thanks a lot! K
@basstheworldofficial4 жыл бұрын
The hyper luminal is FAR more superior

would be more helpful if you explained the signal chain -> was the compressor before or after the b7k?

Man that tone of the that jazz bass is perfect. Love it. Great review! Is the compression knob basically like the input knob on say the Empress or the Mxr M87?

What’s your opinion of it in comparison with the Mxr M87?
@francoisbeaulieu96835 жыл бұрын
I litterally just sold my MXR M87 72 hours ago, and have been playing with this compressor for 3 days now. And I think it's night and day the difference. I MUCH PREFER the sound on the Darkglass compressor, but it does seem to give it a bit of a different quality. The m87 feels much more "neutral" but it's effect not as noticable. Sometimes I would even wonder if my m87 was working or not. I would have to look at it to confirm that it is indeed engaged or not. With the darkglass, I can hear it instantly. That's my 2 cents if it can help you. TL;DR: Hyper Luminal = more personality and versatility, M87 = more transparent and neutral

I'm torn between this and the Boss BC-1X, which costs 100 Bucks less. Any opinions, experiences? Bin am schwanken zwischen dem und dem Boss BC-1X, der nochmal 100 Eulen weniger kostet. Wie würdet ihr sie vergleichen, jemand mit Erfahrungen?

We did the modeling for this pedal, and we have some of the best DSP engineers on the planet, so... nope!
@basstheworldofficial6 жыл бұрын
What makes you say that? This is one of the best pedal compressors I’ve ever tried. And I’ve tried many
@ThrashingBasskill6 жыл бұрын
@BassTheWorld.com If you say that, I believe in you and put trust in your opinion. I just would like to know, what makes it better in your opinion, since I'm new to this whole compressor issue and would like to orient myself what to look out for. Would be great :)

I am not fan of using a computer to change settings. If they stop supporting the software, you will be stucked with the current settings.
@deanroddey28813 жыл бұрын
Agreed. It's fine to have an option and I guess important for live playing perhaps to quickly select presets or something. But, in the end, I'd prefer to have manual adjustments. Strymon does this kind of thing. It can be a bit hard to remember but most knobs have two or three functions, with the less common stuff requiring holding down buttons and turning the knobs. So it's still doable in a fairly limited space.
@taylorpearcy3193 жыл бұрын
What do “attack” and “release” even mean? And how can one knob control both of them?
@basstheworldofficial3 жыл бұрын
Attack is how fast the comp engages after every impulse (played note) and release how long it compresses until it releases the sound again. When there’s only one know they combine typical settings of both

Seems like it squashes the signal way too much
@basstheworldofficial6 жыл бұрын
For demos we’re always overusing compressors a bit to make sure unexperienced bassists watching this get an idea what the effect actually does

Oh ok. Thanks for clarifying that👍🏼

@@basstheworldofficial use my mxr bass compressor for 5 years and don't see any reason to change for any other comp...
@basstheworldofficial6 жыл бұрын
Good for you. I love MXR but this comp right here is much better than theirs. That’s pretty much the only MXR pedal I’ve never liked
@lavadoraautomatica16 жыл бұрын
Mxr compressor is good, but lacks the blend control which is critical when using compression on bass.
@theomitrentsis6 жыл бұрын
It's not critical - It's good to be there (for parallel/NY compression) but by no means a necessary feature.
