This is the best format for testing and demoing a pedal I have ever seen. You should write a book and show everyone else how to do it and get yourself rich.

Bass brother thank you for demonstrating Darkglass with proper musicality and grace. I am getting a great impression of the capabilities from this companies pedals. The other videos out there and I mean all of them are monotone metal demos. You really span the full range of potential genres. I don't know you, and I'm saying Darkglass needs to see what you are doing for them. Bravo. A breath of fresh air.

This might just be THE best demo of Darkglass gear on KZbin. So many videos do a little bit of drive and then go straight to the harshest, darkest tones the pedal provides. You've shown how those who aren't into metal can use this pedal in the other 99% of musical situations. Thanks. :)

Great demo!! I loved all of your tone examples. So what's the secret sauce on that 'Whole Lotta Love' demo? All of the other demos you show the pedal setting except for that one. You really nailed that old school Zepplin tone with those settings!

Coming back to this video after a year... demo aside, the vibe with this video is striking. Slick clothes, slick cut, color matching bass, perfect but not unnaturally black background, holding the bass in a stance that looms. I dunno. Just my thoughts.

I have three, I use one for a funky compressor, one for a sorta Geddy ballsy thing, and one for a bit harder drive, sorta like the 'No One Knows' tone. Never heard a solid state OD I liked as well, and I've tried almost all of them. Coupled with my G-K amps, I can get about as nasty a tone as I want with them. Fantastic little box.

@@RuneVSchmidt I'm sure there are WAY better ways for getting the sounds I get out of them, but that's the way it made sense to my neanderthal brain. I'm sorta tech-illiterate, and I really liked the Microtubes' range of sounds, so that's how I did it. I'm very pleased with what they do for me.

This si the best demo ive seen for this pedal. Well done on covering a lot of styles. Do you have any suggestions for a warm, Motown type of tone, and maybe something a bit Bruce Foxton? Appreciate its all in the fingers/amp/cab etc, but as a starting point?

Great demo! Question, does the volume of your signal go up the more you add drive? I keep the Level in the same position but the more I add drive the pedal goes off unity gain. I'm not sure if this is normal or if I have a defective unit. Thanks!

Thanks Joel! Regarding your question. I think your volume should increase when you add more of it, but I'm not sure wether it is defect without being able to try it myself. Try taking it to a music store and hear their opinion :-) Best of luck!

Don't quite remember. My guess is that they have been semi recently changed, but they don't have that 100% fresh zing that new stings have...they may be a month old?!? The slapping part still have some brightness, so that's my guess :-)

+yaojialove taojialove Hi. I don't know how high it is, but it's also just a matter of comfort. If you like you string hight, just go with it. I've seen pro players with very high strings, some with very low strings and mine are kind of in-between...it's all about your playing style and your comfort :-)

I'm running through a Aguilar DB680 preamp and playing a Sandberg Masterpiece TT4 bass. I also use the TC Electronic DITTO loop pedal for the bass loop...the description says, so let's trust that, since I don't remember it anymore 😀 No cabs, only pedal and preamp into pro tools.

@@giovanniscarola5167 I'm not sure you could say it offers a cab sim. It is only an overdrive pedal, with lots of tonal options. But the sound you hear in the video is without cabinets, so if you normally only play direct and like this sound, that would ba a possibility. Just remember that I also go through a very nice tube preamp.

I that is possible, yes. You have the blend to help you keep the clean signal and the "core" of your bass tone, and the gain can be set quite gnarly :-) But try it out if you have the chance, and please report back :-) I hope you find what you seek! Best regards

That's my main problem. I'm from Portugal and I can't find Darkglass pedals anywhere to try out... I have an MXR M-181, but I'm not very happy with it, so I'm looking for alternatives and I believe this pedal is an excellent choice. Best regards and thanks for the reply!

I just see that I missed your question, I'm sorry about that! I did not change EQ at any point, so all difference in sound comes from the pedal, and I used an Aguilar DB680 preamp and a TC Ditto looper, that's it. I hope you have been enjoying the VMT!

I'm not using a compression in this video (unless my editor og youtube puts something on that I'm not aware of) only the Darkglass pedal. But in my opinion, it has a bit of a compression feel to it, as I demonstrate round 2:10. I use a MXR nowadays, but Cali76 bass comp is on my wish list :-)

Well if you pick up a fuzz, od or distortion, it will compress your signal no matter what. So instead of worrying about the compression, I'd advice you to try it out and see if it does what you need. I hope you find what you're looking for :-)
