Tbf to Darkseid, everytime he shows up it is usually at the very end of a series and the heroes have to find a way to win in the last 20 minutes. Also, canonically, he is a 4th dimensional being dying "through" (its complicated), a 3 dimensional multiverse. So every time anyone has ever fought him, it has always been the equivalent of fighting a guy who just got shot in the lungs.
