Hey everybody! Glad everyone is enjoying the video but one major thing I need to clear up. I have come to find out that I was wrong about the Felicia Elena connection. Everything else in the video is correct and I've double checked all of it, but yeah the Elena and Felicia thing was just me not knowing back then how to correctly check my sources.

happy 30th anniversary darkstalkers!!!(tbh there was so much overlap with capcom's series & elena's basically a human version of felicia just replace turning into a cat with using your energy to heal you/tiffany from rival schools almost debuted in 3 and a baoh character almost was wholesale used there could see somewhere it planned.:3) absolutely love this series as my favorite in capcom with the fast satisfying gameplay(would take the few games we technically have over the entirety of street fighter as a fighter/being 2nd to another dear to my heart series.) especially in 3 with it's,deliciously yummy cocktail mix of different tones for the stages/characters(feels like shonen jump going from one wild setting to another but welded so well being sexy,goofy,scary,heartwarming & so full of life in it's idle animations.),development having such HUGE respect for horror referencing it from concept to their names. how it worked in unique rival fights/secret characters,it's different versions(find cool they had the story continue in it/the vs. games where it shows morrigan after she fused with lilith being queen of makai.),it's crossovers(actually liked cross edge for while the main character sucked having morrigan with etna from disgaea as that series having a proper crossover with darkstalkers would be wonderful.:3) alongside other media like the ova's(love a sequel to it & street fighter the animated movie so much.:3)/manga/comics(alongside sota toys originally making figurines for the characters even dee would've liked to have seen the hd remix of darkstalkers as outside morrigan/lilith being evil for no reason love these comics & how they easily integrated it/other capcom series into street fighter's world that i'm glad the games are following up on.) and while not good find the cartoon enjoyably campy as i'd take it over street fighter(megaman i'd say was the best one as it still carried the spirit and like the trouble man main theme was included.). and personality in all the characters with the best story(lord raptor,sasquatch,victor,q-bee,b.b hood,jon talbain,anarkaris,jedah,anita & especially morrigan/lilith being my favorites not being too hard to get while being enjoyable.:3) in fighting games which capcom is very underrated for and this series deserves to fully return with a new game(wish that 4 teaser happened that actually was for a new game before inafune screwed it as it feels like mighty no. 9 was karma for that sadly canned/letting dmc reboot be greenlit.) with the passion the new heads have putting more to a series returning instead of only numbers(especially expecting huge numbers from a digital release that weren't going to meet that ridiculous number/a series that already got re-released on the same consoles.) as they have the dedication to show darkstalkers definitely especially ABSOLUTELY 100% aren't dead.

Nope. There is so much nonsense in this video that it becomes unhelpful; as much as I like the effort and focus on this game. Your video attempts to suggest on multiple occasions that this was effectively a combined Japanese and US effort. That is completely wrong. If you think that please demonstrate your credible sources. This was 100% designed and developed in Japan. Capcom USA were distributors only at the time and had no involvement in any stage of development of this title.

Funny considering we had yet another re-release but this time it had Red-Earth in it so it's ok, lol. But since SF6 and the new heads are had fighter game love-magic in them (see Akira, Terry, Mai in Street Fighter) this makes me hopefully for a future Darkstalkers. I also love SF6 art direction (realistic with SF2 cover art charm) I feel like art direction for a possible new Darkstalkers would be swell.

@TBoneTony Now that I think about it, ever since DarkStalkers there's been quite a few Succubi in Japanese media like Kurumu Kurono and her mom in Rosario+Vampire, or the Succubi cafe in Konosuba, the teacher Raim in "Welcome To Demon School Iruma, Mayospell in Interspecies Reviewers. And that's just the anime I've seen and care to mention... My point is after Morrigan graced Japan with her existence, I don't think the numerous succubus to follow is a mere coincidence.

B.B. Hood was my favorite characters, simply because she perfectly represents humanity. Something supernatural and spooky out there that's a threat? Shoot it. It's still moving? THROW BOMBS AT IT. It's somehow STILL alive? MORE DAKKA! Even her backstory is pretty badass since she's described as being able to intimidate most darkstalkers just with her presence, even though she was a regular human.

B.B hood was my go too on MvC2 loved her dark nature and her combat. My favorite special was her drown in tears, I always thought that the grandma was an even more badass and vicious in her own right. I love Jon Talbain as well he was beast using martial arts to try to quell the beast within only to make him even more deadly. Darkstalkers needs to return!!!

I miss Darkstalkers so much. To be honest, I liked it better than Street Fighter back in the day, and I still do. I just love the idea of monsters fighting each other, and couple that with fun mechanics and really fun and fluid gameplay, and you have a winner in my eyes. I really hope the franchise makes as big, if not bigger comeback as Street Fighter did with SF4. Someday, somehow. I just want to see it happen in my lifetime.

There’s a bit of a hope spot here. All five of the arcade Darkstalkers games got to be in the Capcom Fighting Collection from 2022 which advertised them as its main selling point, plus some of them got to be in other countries for the first time. Probably didn’t sell enough to justify a new game right now, but it does show Capcom hasn’t forgotten about the games yet. With SF6’s massive success, perhaps we haven’t seen the last of the Darkstalkers…

Yeah I don't get why Talbain doesn't get as much respect rom Capcom. He's clearly popular (especially in the west) and if you think about it he's one of the most heroic/good guy characters of the series, so he'd be perfect as protagonist of a new installment, maybe just behind Felicia because she's the second most popular character behind Morrigan. Also I love the thumbnail of this video, it perfectly captures the dynamic that Talbain and Felicia have.

This July or this October, it is time for you to do "Let's Make a Sequel for Darkstalkers 4" you already made the roster on "Build the Roster" so you can carry that over. Then commission artists to make brand new Darkstalkers characters to add to the roster and finally, craft the story, arcade endings alternate costumes, DLC, stages, and everything for a possible Darkstalkers 4! Make it your biggest and least realistic Darkstalkers video ever!!! Please, I am begging you! Capcom probably won't do anything so for the 30th anniversary all of us Darkstalkers fans are relying on you to give us the best possible Darkstalkers content that you can make for the 30th anniversary! The anniversary is on July 12th.

As someone who owned both consoles (PS1 first btw) I can concur that the Saturn conversions Capcom made were better than their PS1 versions. Then it was perfected with the 4MB RAM expansion cart. Saturn Vampire Savior was even superior to the arcade version by combining the rosters of Savior 1&2 (ditto with Alpha 3)! Funny thing is, I had friends at the time that still tried to make excuses for the PS1 version of XvSF after playing the Saturn version. 🤣

I had "OmegaPyron" as my username for like 10 or so years, all in hope and anticipation for Darkstalkers 4. My uncle rented us Darkstalkers 3 from Hollywood Video and the game captivated me, but I didn't know what I witnessed being so young, I just had the sprites etched in my mind. Friends obtained copies over the years, adding to my desire to replaying it, but it wasn't until I got a job and PSP and noticed Chronicles existed that I finally owned my own copy. I did however, own the Episode 4 of the badass OVA and watched it religiously to the point of memorizing all of Pyron's quotes. I even made a website about him, haha.

Now with the Capcom Fighting Game Collection coming out this summer, I now want a response video of this to happen. Not only we're getting all 5 Darkstalkers titles, going to get Pocket Fighter, Red Earth, and so on. Despite the controversy, this is the only time and chance to get a possible physical copy of these games, and best time to play these games online as well. It's a longtime coming, but this could be Darkstalkers' last chance for a possible sequel. As there might be a chance we might see Red Earth characters jump in to join the character roster for Darkstalkers.

Besides this series and Dino Crisis I wish Capcom would bring back Onimusha I mean the PS4 rerelease of the first game actually did well proving that there we are still fans of Onimusha and would happily buy a new installment or at the least updated rereleases of 2: Samurai's Destiny, 3: Demon Siege, and Dawn of Dreams. Heck the story of the making of the first game is an interesting one as Onimusha: Warlords started out as the original concept of Resident Evil 0 no am I not making that up when Capcom Japan had Shinji Mikami and his team get ready to start production of RE3: Nemesis, Shinji and his team came up with ideas for several spinoff titles that would've been released on the PS1 including a game starring Hunk, a game set on a cruise ship that would years later become RE: Dead Aim for the PS2, and canonical prequel game set in Feudal Japan whose plot was a male Samurai, and his Kunoichi partner were tasked by a feudal lord to investigate a mysterious manor infested with zombies and other various monsters however the proposed RE prequel game would be delayed into missing being one of the final releases on the being phased-out PS1, and instead released as a launch title for the upcoming PS2 and further developments for the PS2 would see the game have it's original plot concept along with most elements connecting it to the RE franchise be removed and reworked into the survival-horror/action classic released at launch for the PS2 as Onimusha: Warlords.

I remember in one video Maximilian Dood quoted something that was true about darkstalkers "the characters pretty much overshadowed their own game." Honestly I felt a new darkstalkers game would have been released at the time Street fighter 4 came out if they gave it the same treatment like that giving it a more horror element have a few guest characters like Dante or Nemesis, I think it would have worked.

well darkstalkers ressurection was set up fail from the start. it was hardly advertized (only saw 1 small article in game informer/plus youtube promos/that was it), overpriced, for an arcade based port thats pretty much what i own my PSP (released back in 2007).

Well, we got the Capcom Fighting Classics Collection coming out in late June of this year. Which includes all 5 Darkstalkers releases. Along with Red Earth, Pocket Fighter, Puzzle Fighter 2, and so on. Clearly they're noting on giving the franchise one last chance. And will be sold on all current platforms. Including PC. So for the summer drought of game releases, this might fill the void for anyone who had interest on playing the franchise, and perhaps seal the fate of IPs in the collection.

26:15 In an interview with Guilty Gear creators they said they made GG so flashy and fast like that because at the time all the fightings on the market were slow, samey and grounded so they wanted something different that wasn't done before. I did wonder "what about DarkStalkers" but assumed that DS didn't yet release at the time of GG's start of development. However, now that I'm reminded just how early in the 90's DS actually came out, yeah, it's weird that GG's makers didn't acknowledge it as an influence.

I have a theory that a new Darkstalkers game was being made but when Bandai Namco agreed for the crossover all production stop and some of the resource ended on Street Fighther x Tekken. Such as: Chain Combos Jin having a Jedah style projectile

Darkstalkers Resurrection came out just a year after RE 6 as well, which also sold below Capcom's desires. So with SF X Tekken and RE6 being considered disappointments I can see why Capcom became to scared to do anything. I mean, RE7 had to practically become a whole different game compared to what came before it. Maybe someday we will get a Darkstalkers that really lives up to what it can be. For Now I will just play Night Warriors on Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium.

Darkstalkers is easily one of the most memorable Capcom games I owend growing up. It has so much personality and character and it was fun to play. I neve realized there was so much lore and backstory to each character. Its amazing so much creativity went behind the creation of this game I think it was ahead of its time. I wish Capcom would create engaging and culturally rich games again.

Man, I miss this series. My happiest arcade memory was when I was playing Darkstalkers 3 in a mall arcade that was mostly empty. I tried BB Hood in a "what can this kid do" way, and after I burst out laughing when she pulled out a machine gun, the attendant gave me free play tokens cuz he was happy someone was enjoying themselves. I do wish that they'd kept Lilith's original fallen half-angel background. She could still serve Jedah. Also, I'll give the Western cartoon one credit - they gave Morrigan a Scottish accent, which was more than the anime dub tried.

Achivements numbers on fighting game are pretty low in general for offline and online. Strive has a achievement for beating a cpu in versus and only has 32%. Almost every SFV achievement has lower than 30% except completing the tutorial at 92%.

9:12-10:14 The fact that the characters of Darkstalkers gives off this feeling is incredibly appropriate. This video game series is listed in TV tropes as a prime and perfect example of the Monster Mash trope. The "Monster Mash" trope itself is listed as a sub-trope in the crossover index the website have. This makes sense, because each monster archetype represented in this trope originally conceptualized by different artists with different influences of their own. Each monster coming from different horror stories unrelated to one another. This is not to say Darkstalkers is a crossover in of itself, it just means that the feeling the series gives off helps makes it more diverse than it otherwise would. It helps each playable character be more unique than they otherwise would be. Darkstalkers is kind of like a crossover. It is almost like Capcom have already created their own crossover before they have done any actual crossovers the Darkstalkers later appeared in. Heck, I became aware of the Darkstalkers series when I did research on where the playable characters of Marvel VS. Capcom 3 come from. This may still be just a coincidence, but this is what I love most about Darkstalkers. I am a fan of crossovers myself. If I want to create a work of fiction that give off this crossover feeling, then I need the influence of other artists to achieve that. And I got to make sure the origin stories are made by different writers as well.

I love the over the top expressions in dark stalkers. The eye bulge really sells the feeling of sudden surprise pain of getting the wind knocked out of you after a heavy hit, or getting kicked in the dick basically. It's attention to detail like that I wish more fighting games did.

As someone who doesn't know anything about Darkstalkers, I'm excited to watch this retrospective. I love the ones you've done on other series. I learned so much from your recent Alpha retrospective. I feel bad for Darkstalkers fans that Capcom has seemingly abandoned this series. I forget who, but I heard someone say of Rival Schools that if Capcom won't make more of them, at least let more Rival School characters join Street Fighter. I wonder if Darkstalkers could get the same treatment. I mean, SF already has an Indian rubber man and a green Brazilian beast man, so monsters aren't that crazy to imagine in the SF universe. Maybe Capcom should let some DS characters cameo in SF6 as playable DLC if they aren't going to make a new DS game any time soon.

actually i like the concept on how they put a character as the main protegonist for that part of the game. that is something you don't see very often being done. Darkstalkers 1 was Demitri Night of the Warriors 2 was Donovan and Anita Darkstalkers 3 is now Morrigan this idea was only because (NOT because of the fans) but because it gave it a nice detail in comic chapter wise of the episode to come by soon almost like that of a movie, you the idea of a title being called: "Batman Begins" to "The Dark Knight" but than the 3rd chapter was The Dark Knight Rises, and in a way it works.
