Additional fun fact about the restricted air space above the golf course: Way back in the day when the game first came out, you wouldn't just get a wanted level for flying above it, but you would actually be shot down just like at the military base. They must have a top secret lab under the golf course or something lmao

It's an interesting touch too because real golf courses actually do have a low restricted airspace, if you've ever seen how high a golfball can be hit with a decent driver, they can do some damage. Back in the older GTA versions, not the REALLY old top down versions, but the 3D ones, going to your safe house was a key way of getting rid of police. Saving (or in this case sleeping) was well known to people who played all the old GTA's prior to GTA V. If you only started playing in GTA V, it's understandable you might not know of this previously key mechanic, as it's less important now.

My biggest complaint with the cops in GTA V is how they get applied to the player. It feels less like "I got caught doing something wrong" and more like "I reached my crime threshold and the game is gonna spawn cops any second now". GTA IV while excessive at times really managed to feel more "realistic" or at least believable. It feels like cops are never patrolling in GTA V and their interactions with NPCs are extremely limited compared to IV. Like a lot of features it just feels like a worse and more forgiving version of what we already had in IV.

The GTA IV cops have entertaining dialogue and you actually see them out and about doing their own thing when they aren't chasing you. (Also, there's no cap on the wanted level you can clear by saving.)

In GTA Online, my favorite spot to make a "last stand" is at the bottom of the stairs at the subway entrance in Little Seoul. The cops can't get to you unless they go down the stairs, and they can't shoot while doing that. It's the perfect place to funnel them in and take them out. If you want to escape, just head further into the tunnels.

In single player I done last stands on the roof of the hospital with the helipads, on the train, in the control tower of Trevor's airfield, at the airport (in a tank), at humane labs (also in a tank), and in 3 locations where you can glitch inside structures.

One of the main things I learned about cops in this game, during missions in or near the city where it’s hard to get away from a certain wanted level, find the train tracks and get to one of the underground tunnels and chill, sometimes they go down there after you but if you kill them a few times they stop going down and cannot find you for some reason lol

As a curiosity the little variety that rockstar has given to the police. There are several police departments LSPD, LSSD, SAPD, SASPR, SASPA, FIB, IAA. Only to be used in story mode or in missions, they will rarely appear on the map. Except for the SASPA that will appear more than three in the prison.

One of my favorite hiding places during police pursuits is the train tunnel near Franklin's home. The railway is above ground between two double-lane roads, and it dips down underground into a loop that takes you back up. Sitting in either side of the tunnel will prevent police from finding you. Cops will drive around endlessly above you, and they will VERY RARELY approach you on foot (if at all).

Another fun fact, you could obtain the undercover cruiser in single player. It’s very rare, you could only find it while driving around the underpass/train station bordering South LS and Central LS at a specific time. It’s extremely rare to find, but I was able to steal it and put it in my garage.

In the mission at the FIB where you meet Steve for the first time. On the way to Dave’s car if Micheal pulls out a gun and immediately shoots someone Dave will respond “I didn’t see you do that” to which Micheal says “No you didn’t “ and goes on like nothing happened. It only works once tho

One thing I have found out and it doesn't get you any stars - down at Chumash Plaza from 7am onwards just show the NPCs your weapon and chase them on to the roadside - some of them make it to the other side, and some - don't. .....it's also one way to cause traffic chaos.
