Thought I would be the first to say how great the A-10 pilots were. But noooo, it was rather obvious as others have commented also. Especially loved the view from the approach end - those A-10's looked and sounded like the real thing flying overhead. All the pilots were very skilled. And that wheel landing by the P-51, sweet!

Some great landings! The A10 at 10:45 was very realistic - great camera angle! The models landing on the astro turf (I think astro turf) was almost hypnotic - some great flying and crosswind landings. So smooth - wish I had a strip like that!

avipatable, Thank you for your comment. I truly appreciate it. Mr. Jensen (the large scale MIBO A-10 pilot and builder) is a true veteran in this hobby, and witnessing his models, both on ground and while flying, is always a joy. He’s one of the best scale flying pilots I know (and have learned from). The astro turf runway has the very best surface for RC planes in my opinion. Soft and flat surface with good resistance which helps stopping our planes. The smallest plane that has taken off from the surface is a Eflite UMX Habu 28mm EDF jet, so the surface is perfect for all small (and fairly big) models. I’m really happy that my club decided to re-build our field with the pre-worn artificial grass (which was donated to our field free of charge from a local soccer arena). Cheers!
@avipatable6 жыл бұрын
It’s great watching a good pilot flying a model in a scale fashion - and really nice to see that even smaller models like the P51 on your video can also look very scale too with a smooth runway. That is a great idea and very nice of the football club - it’s really prefect for smaller models, and they look so much more scale when taxing without the bumps! Keep up the good work

It appears that in any group of rc pilots there is always the same kind of mix of abilities and understanding of aerodynamics. Eg - in our group of approximately 10 pilots, 3 or 4 are consistently good with their T/o's and landings, and the rest are a bit of a lucky dip. You can tell in this video who is 'on it' by their approach. Congrats to the turbine A-10 pilot, and also the p-51 and Royal Canadian Baehawk pilots as well. As for the remaining pilots in the group here... well done for getting your aircraft down in one piece, as that is the ultimate aim of any rc pilot. Great vid and beautiful backdrop.
@RCTommy5 жыл бұрын
cameron300462, thank you for your thorough comment. And you are correct, having fun and getting the model down in one piece is the ultimate goal anyways, and some do it better than others (most do it wrong anyways). We do try to practice correct thrust/pitch control during approach in my club, which has given more confident and better pilots that knows how to manage the power in a critical phase of flight. Cheers! 😊👍
@cameron3004625 жыл бұрын
@@RCTommy its also very good training for emergency ( or power-out ) landings too Tommy. Nose slightly down to maintain the same kind of descent you would use in a normal landing setup. What microphone do you use. I'm looking to upgrade mine for videos that I take for our club.
@RCTommy5 жыл бұрын
Good question, Michael. I actually use a fairly cheap microphone which someone online recommended specifically for my camera: Røde VideoMicro! It is exceptionally good paired with my camera (Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ2000/FZ2500) if you remember to use the «dead cat» (wind reduction sock) that comes with it. Some did tell me to beware of unwanted noise since the Røde VideoMicro is a dynamic microphone (does not need external battery/power supply). Some Sony cameras are known to have a really bad inboard sound recording chip, which makes a lot of static noise when paired with this mic. However, the Panasonic Lumix built in audio recording chip makes no noticable static noice what so ever. The Røde VideoMicro may work fine with any other camera, but I have personally only used it with my Panasonic Lumix camera. If you have tried using a dynamic mic and you get static noise, please consider using a condenser microphone (mic with separate power supply) instead. They are way more pricy though. Hope that helps. Cheers!😊👍
