Hello dr, my age is 22 years and I have had hair thinning from a long time. It has been going downhill from the year 2015. I don't have mpb but my overall density of hair has significantly reduced in these years. Diffuse thinning I believe. Mothers and fathers side is all bald, father got rapidly bald at 29. For a past year I have started working out and my hairfall has aggravated. My head has become visible. My diet has been very good and balanced with good amount of protein. Last 4-5 months my workout has been even more harder and so my hairfall is getting even quicker. I used to have social anxiety about my body but now I am a very fit mascular indivisual so my confidence is sky high. I want to hop on fin and min, have done the research and understand that the risk is not as severe as people make it out to be. What should be my course of action from here?

Excellent advice. 1mg is too powerful for most men. I was on 1mg/3x a week to avoid sides and still got them after about 3 months. I think 60-90 days is when the Finasteride begins its peak levels of DHT suppression, which then brings the side effects.

Agreed, which is why I think there are so many reports of side effects and so many more of unreported sides. I am not sure how the industry came to the conclusion that 1mg daily should be the standard dose. Especially since .2mg daily has the same beneficial results with 80% less dosage.

Just after my second dose I’m noticing an urge to urinate specially at night time which I have never experienced before. I have been doing regular kegel exercise from many years and that helped me with my bladder control. This is not a side effect. The medication was initially used for just this purpose. To help people to have easy micturition. In fact hair growth is a side effect.

After the initial results have set in, breaks are mandatory every 3 months for 2 weeks in my experience or else you will not only develop tolerance, but will develop side effects.

Great work. You are best hair doctor in the world. I have been taking Finasteride 1mg for 30 years. I am 51 years old. In the last few years I have only taken it 3 times a week. Monday/Wednesday/Friday. Unfortunately, the effect of finasteride wears off. Can I also take 0.5 mg of dutasteride on Sunday? I always take finasteride in the morning. Thanks for watching. As mentioned in my video titled '100 points you should know about Finasteride', one should not take a chance by reducing the dosage from 1 mg a day for 6 months. Most strategies work by trial and error, and this 6 months period does not allow this luxury. Grafts are limited and we would not wish to lose them forever.

Thanks for encouraging. At 6 months i assess the patient. If most transplanted hairs have normal caliber, and if his baldness has stabilised i will advise him to stop. But in the young in whom baldness is progressive, I will likely decrease the dosage and advise continuation of the drug for a few more years.

Out of 4.6 million men who received Finesteride in US 10.695 had symptoms. I guess a lot of men didn't have them.It's better for doctors to check with the patients to understand if they are getting symptoms. This is a great drug but as we all are different with different hormone levels, physiological profile. A full body blood test and mental health test should be done before prescribing this. A cutomised does is also good. But ow many doctors follow this.

1 mg a day or 0.5 mg a day Finasteride may have same effect on different individuals. Topical Finasteride is a commercial preparation with no scientific basis. Finasteride cannot cross the skin barrier.

In this option sweet spot is taken in consideration The other alternative I found after seeing this video is taking 0.5 mg on alternate days and on weekends also which makes total 2.5 mg a week.. In this option weekend is taken in consideration. Pls suggest the better option if you have to choose

Hello and thank you for the great video. I'm taking a combination of 0,5 minoxidil and 0,3 finasteride foam form in a bottle of 100ml. The counsil said to take 1 dose at morning and 2 doses in the evening. Someone said to me that this is a large overall dose and I've experienced some libido issues. Is this very high? If this is topical form you are referring to, which you most likely are, you don't have to worry. Finasteride topically does not have effect on your hair loss. And risk of libido issues is even more remote.

That is a lot... 0.3% in 60ml would be 3 mg... While it reduces systemic absorption, it still absorbs systemically quite a bit. You should go to a dermatologist for advice

@@DilshadAlam-gr4qt Hey! My hair grew back. I take 1mg/day. One mistake I made was stopping the minoxidil. I reintroduced the minoxidil last year and my results are even better. I only use it 1x/day instead of the recommended 2x because I'm too lazy and I don't like how my hair feels. I have ~85% of my hair I'd say. I might have better results if I do minoxidil 2x but I'm content. As for the side effects I noticed I ejaculate about ~10% less semen. No change in mood or any other factor for me. I still wake up with erections in the morning and my libido is still high. 1.5 years ago I ran a test where I took finasteride every other day for 3 months to see If I could retain my results but I didn't so I just went back to taking it everyday. I have 3 friends who take finasteride and all of them have good results but one friend has slightly more side effects (less sex drive). One of my other friend who took it said he had severe side effects so he stopped immediately and he's fine now. He uses topical finasteride with minoxidil now. But his results are only OK. I think it's a very individual thing whether you will have side effects or not and the degree to which you will have side effects most likely will differ.

Thanks! The peak blood concentration of the drug happens in 6-8 hours and wanes off shortly thereafter. This has to coincide with the androgen peak to my mind.

Your doctor would know best what suits you. I have only this short note to know you! I recommend my patients 1 mg Finastreide a day for 6-9 months and maybe more. No 2 patients are the same but the dose 6 months after hair transplnt I do not compromise with. Please follow your doctor's advice given in your best interest. Side effects usually go away after a month's contiuous use . What was your total testosterone level before the procedure?

No it does not cause cancer in men. In men it can suppress the detection of prostatic cancer through PSA screening. In premenopausal women it can increase risk of breast cancer.

If you can tolerate, that is the best thing to do- daily dosing. If you are starting off with Finasteride, start with 0.5 mg alternate days and if you tolerate t well and do not get the desired effect after 3 months, enhance the dose to 1 mg. You can go upto 1 mg every day.
