Darlington FC 4-0 Scunthorpe United

You know when you’ve had the highs one day and the lows the next. This was so much worse. So Saturday entertaining football, edge of the seat stuff. Well this was anything but all of that. Would have been entertaining if you’re a Darlo fan. For the Scunny fans having to endure that turgid football for 90 mins, was a kick in the face. Darlington looked hungry and up for the match from the off. I know they’re on a good run of form. I wasn’t expecting to be happy, to only be 3 goals down at half time. Darlo adding a 4th in the second half. I’ll say well played Darlington and good luck for the rest of the season, not that I’ll think you’ll need it playing as you do.
If you wonder how Scunthorpe played. Think of a pendulum going side to side and that’ll be about right. Offered next to nothing going forward. We did have a defence, though watching them it was the equivalent of using sand to hold a river back. Offered nothing at all.
Yes players and management were berated at half time and full time by fans. When you turn up to watch your team play, you expect the team to turn up and play too. When they do they get applauded and praised. When they don’t, the opposite happens.

As a Darlo fan watching the game, I have to say it was our best performance of the season. Would have been happy with a point before kick off. Big shout out to mother nature, because if it wasn't for that massive downpour 20 minutes before kick off on the 23rd January, then the match would have gone ahead, and we would have been stuffed playing like we were then.

The guy at the end in the wooly hat was just a tit. F'ing and blinding at the players then walking off smiling. Hardly helps. Nothing wrong in genuinely venting frustrations but he was just being abusive for his own pleasure. Wouldn't blame a player for giving it back.

They thought they could walk the league, they were nailed on odds on favourites to go straight back up like Yeovill being a proper EFL team of old. They've found out that these leagues are a lot more competitive than they thought and they're really hard to get out of. Tamworth have come out of nowhere and have taken Scunny off the top and they've now got the reality of being 2nd or 3rd, maybe even 4th if they don't start getting results. Chorley are in really good form with a game in hand and now the league top scorers to boot. Chester have solidified as the year has gone on and look like a good outfit. There's so many teams that can contest for those play offs. It's so tight and Scunny just dropping these points is making their position look dangerous. i think the only consolation for Scunny is that this year everyone is beating everyone! There are no nailed on games at the minute, upsets galore.

I think next game were we play like absolute dog shit. 2 fans should be able to go in dressing room at half time and rip fuck into the team for 5 mins. See if the teams attitude changes then. We cant be playing like we are, its criminal.

As a Hull fan i enjoy seeing scunny get beat, do feel a bit bad for the fans going up to darlo to watch that crap, and for abusing the players, i say go for it. Dont feel bad for them if they dont wanna show any fight or bottle whilst you spend time and money after work to go see that rubbish. These lads get their money win lose or draw, if they cant handle being told they played shite then ur in the wrong profession

Did they really deserve the abuse they had at the end? If they didn't need a reason to play, that's just gave them one. We were due a waking up result at some point and this was it. I'm sure the board will have jimmy in this morning. Probably why he gave the players till Thursday before coming in. I'm on the side that we need a change. Hopefully a board meeting will encourage that with jimmy. I have given him the next 3 games. anything less than 7 points. I'm going to be on the side that he isn't good enough. Top man! I wish him the absolute best. I want him to be the best with us! UTI!
