Seems like a raccoon family moved in first earls injuries n now the ducks. It’ll be the chickens next when there’s no eggs around. Raccoons are horrible when it comes to trying to protect ducks and if earl cornered one definitely explains his injuries to the face n under side. Coyotes are bad but a bigger predator would of done more damage and would of attacked from the front. I think bear chased off the raccoon before it could take the duck away. Then bear took the dead duck to show dad what happened.

LSG' are not known to chase or kill birds, it's very rare or accidental. Most of the time when a waterfowl is found dead and in an LSG's mouth is from being stepped on or kicked by a horse, goat, or cow. My ducks over the years have died to trauma from being kicked or stepped by livestock and my dogs would do what dogs do when they find a dead animal. Bear & Earl that's another thing, if you have a hyper rambunctious dog like Earl being fed near a dominant unfixed male dog like Bearl it was only a matter of time before something will happen. Earl is cute but kinda goofy lol.

I had a couple of ducks and a fox helped himself to one of them. They are easy pickin's. I can't believe it is Bear. Considering how the other little dog (sorry, don't remember his name) kept chasing the ducks on the video. I would suspect that little one chased the ducks off or worse. But it seems for whatever the reason, you or wife want to blame Bear first thing. Others have mentioned hawks, that too is a possibility since there is no trace - no blood, no bones, no blood.

Owls, hawks, eagles, weasels, minks, skunks, foxes, coyotes, bobcats- not sure if you have all of these critters in OK, but we have all of the above in New England. When my late neighbor had birds disappearing, he put up a camera, because it could have been any nocturnal creature, except for the predator birds because it was getting in the coop! Turned out, it was a fox who would dig under the fencing, open the coop door (!) and help himself. Another night, the cam caught an owl taking a wild duck (he had a pond so it attracted wild ducks). Another night it was a raccoon, trying to get into the chicken coop, but he wasn't very good at it and got 'treed' by his hound dog. (I can still hear the barking in my head). We also have Fisher Cats in New England, who sometimes kill many birds, but only take one with them; nasty critters. On another YT channel I watch, the owner had a terrible night when something got inside his duck coop and killed many ducks; it looked like a massacre. He did have small cracks in between some of the floor boards and wall boards, but not big enough for a coon, a bobcat etc. Then it happened again; the ducks left were bloody and in shock, didn't even quack and had clearly fought with the predator. While he was making a video about it, he noticed his barn cat sitting near the back of the coop and staring at it. He checked it out and didn't see anything, but the cat wouldn't stop staring at the area. The owner went in the coop, and found a weasel living in the wall INSIDE the coop. He felt sick when he realized that his ducks were literally "sitting ducks" as they had been trapped inside with the predator. Lesson learned! But no blood, no carnage means it's probably a bird. When my neighbor fortified his coop (and he made a duck coop too), I told him about this mesh-like material that could cover the whole area/yard. I think it's called bird netting; my dad used to use it to keep the birds away from his berry bushes/plants, because the birds would get to the berries before we even had a chance to pick them! Works great for "aerial attacks"! Blessings--LL101

Here in Sweden raising pheasants we use spruce trees to protect them from flying predators as hawks and for bird resting place. We can also top the trees if we want free sight and they only grow really wide as a low café umbrella. For foxes and such we have electric fences. But is it your own "predators" then you always will find gathered feathers and some remains at the "slaughtering" place. Want to know? Put up game camera!
