The cost of a vet visit will cause the cost of a goat to be horrific. They would never realize those costs in a sale. I took an English Orpington rooster to the vet, it is worth about $60, by the time it was all said and done I had spent $400. I totally understand why Daniel didn't take the kids to the vet.

A lot of vets don't take just anything, one of the Morrow's couldn't find anybody to help with a chicken.
@Doxymeister8 ай бұрын
@@TheMryphipps I had horses for many years, I live in the same area as Daniel and DeeJay. My vet was excellent with the horses, so when my young Dachshund dog got earmites, and I couldn't get rid of them, I decided to take him to the same clinic as my horse vet. The other vet at this clinic (that handles small animals) informed me that dogs don't get earmites, that it was an ear infection. I was raised on a farm, had owned almost every kind of farm animal, and am pretty familiar with the symptoms of mites (regardless of what mammal has them) I then had to take him to another vet to get the proper diagnosis, get his ear cleaned out and some good quality earmite meds. This was years ago now, I'm sure this young vet has much more experience now, but vets are like people doctors, not all of them are for you, sometimes you have to shop around to find the right one. LOL, she might not take chickens either!

I totally understand the reasoning behind what you're doing with the donkeys, but got a good chuckle out of you Daniel, when you said "reducing" the herd, in one sentence, but then in another said, we're breeding these ones. It just struck me as funny. Like, "how's that reducing the herd?" Like I said, I totally understand farming/ranching. Keep up the good work.

I know this isn't the right video for this comment, but here goes anyway. I want you to know I wasn’t trying to shame you. You may not be talking to me, just wanted to let you know. I had mentioned using a hand milker for two reasons. One- to relieve the swollen udder and two- to make sure the baby gets the colostrum as soon as possible. You mentioned both swollen udder and not getting enough colostrum in your video. Just thought you might like to know about an easy-to-use item to relieve those problems. You prefer the mother-nature method. Obviously, that works too. I just know that I didn't have a pump when I needed one, so I was emphasizing with the mom.
