Darol Anger, this is the best explanation of bow hold I've seen. In my attempts to gain a grasp of proper bow hold (haha), I've watched about 10-20 youtube vids, but they don't show it up close they way you do. I was telling this fiddle player at a jam session that I still was having problems with bow hold and she observed and said I needed to curve my thumb more. I wanted to get more guidance from her but I never saw her again. Your video presicely illustrated what she was showing me, plus gave a lot more instructions. Thanks so very much.

The standard bow holds have you holding a stick, and then the part you are playing with juts out from the stick. With your thumb on the bottom you are holding THE BOW.

Hi Darol, I literally cannot curve my thumb the right way, I have extremely crazy long spagethetti hands. my thumb feels more flexible bent the opposite way, it locks if I bend it the way other people do. Will I ever be able to be good based on this, I wasn't finding it a problem until I learnt it was 'wrong'.
