DW has at least done something in NASCAR since 1972. A driver from 1972-2000, and a broadcaster from 2001-2019. Thank you for your 47 years of contributions to NASCAR. We will miss you.

Nope. As a driver from '72, to late 2006 (in a Xfinity race), and as a broadcaster from 2001 to 2019. But still: DW was one of the most charismatic guys in NASCAR *EVER, IF HES NOT THE MOST CHARISMATIC EVER.*

It’s a bittersweet send off. At one period I couldn’t stand FOX as I always looked forward to BP and NBCs coverage, but as time wore on, I grew to enjoy Darrell. Come Speedweeks when FOX returns and Darrell’s not in the booth, it’ll be weird, but in the end, thanks for the memories of NASCAR on FOX DW!
@gadbammit47363 жыл бұрын
BP is great, a certain nostalgia is what I feel when I go back and watch the races from the 1990's during my early childhood. I always enjoyed Darrell Waltrips energy, that team of Mike Joy, Larry Mac, and DW was one of the best ever assembled, they complemented each other so well.

It will be sad that there will be no more DW. Him being a part of the NASCAR on Fox team was a huge part of my childhood. DW was a guy who helped encourage me to not just watch the races to cheer for my favorite guys/gals, but to have fun watching the races. He also had a great sense of humor. Thank you, DW. 2011, this boi finally catches a Daytona 500. Trevor Bayne wins the 500 and all I hear is DW and the gang each yelling their own phrase. I've looked up to him for years, picked up mannerisms and saying from this man. Its this man who has set me on my career choice indirectly, and I wish nothing but the best in him. 2020 will be incredibly different, but we should all be blessed to have memories with his voice behind the mic.

I’m just now getting into cars / racing and DWs amazing and passionate commentary is a big reason why I’m starting to watch NASCAR. He has truly became a legend in both the racing and commentating field, he’s been there for the entirety of the sports come up to the mainstream and I can’t imagine the history of the sport without him there. From Petty to Dale to Busch, he’s been there for it all. Really sad because I didn’t know he retired (because again I’m just now getting into the sport and have only really watched highlights from the past)

I've loved Darrell's coverage over the years as an island kid watching NASCAR... loved his charisma in the booth. One of my fondest memories is the All star race in 2009 where as fate would have it: Jeff Gordon crashed and there was a moment he was screaming while Mike Joy was covering. To this day I laugh every time I think of it. Mike Joy has that "NASCAR voice" and Darrell gave the "NASCAR charisma" voice that combined, NOBODY could touch. It felt honestly like if you had some friends at your house enjoying the race: It wasn't all data and facts to make it boring... it made the thing enjoyable. I'm going to miss him. Thanks Darrell... from an island fan.
