IMO, the Starwoods are the best set of Tele pickup on the market. The transparency gets me every time

Found a nice & resonant 11 lbs 50's Vibe Tele (Squire) and ordered a pair of Starwoods along with 250k pots' kit! Going to make a Tele of all Teles. Like the stock tuners, already replaced steel saddles with brass. Squire on the headstock doesn't matter to me much, I think it's going to be a kick-butt guitar after the works!

I'm definitely going to put those Starwood pickups in a Tele. I love the chiminess that I'm hearing.

I'm sold. It sounds darker but also crispier on the top end than the USA.

Installed a pair of Starwood in my tele guitar kit The bridge is well balanced but it's the neck pickup that gets all the action. Sounds amazingly good. TV Jones weren't messing around 😎

easy to install in a elder thinline Body ya have to length the Neck pickup cables ( no problem) for a thinline Tele and both coils make no problems shielding in my axe copper ,etc. they carry the tone procued from the Brass sddles to the Nut on the Neck ( a MiM Fender marple telecaster Neck cheap and good )very well to the Amp and in my case a Fender princeton Reverb 68 reissue and my thinline sounds very yery good in all normal three positions 😄whole thinline is around 1000€ for all parts🤠

You can't compare a hollow body to a solid. It's a huge variable that has a huge effect on tone.

Those who actively use TV Jones pickups: as someone looking to TV Jones for replacement pickups, how do they react to fuzz? I know all pickups react differently but is there anything to keep in mind?
@chuckkirkpatrick67124 жыл бұрын
Personally I like the actual original neck pup sound better. In the past 5 years I've had 14 different pups in the neck of my 'go-to' working Tele. I quickly tire of them all. The latest is a mini-bucker which also is beginning to bore me. I may well go back to the original after trying GFS Retros, Duncan 'bucker, TV Jones Filtertron, etc. There is nothing quite like the sound of a proper vintage Tele neck pup. This Starwood pup does sound good but not great. 7 on a 10 scale...

What are your thoughts on TV jones starwood or The Lindy Fralin split blade. Compare them if you can haha. I also wonder about mixing them--with a blues LF split blade in the bridge and he TV jones in the neck. Any thoughts on that combination?

Hi Darrell, awesome playing, great demo. I mainly play Gretsches and was just about to swap out my neck pickup on my Standard Tele for a TV Jones Classic when I saw this demo. Question is do you think the TV Classic and TV T-style give you much the same thing or if I am looking for Gretch sounds should I stick with the Classic? Also is that your standard tele pickup in the bridge? Sounds great, great playing, cheers...
@DarrellBraunGuitar8 жыл бұрын
+rydes68 I think to capture the Gretsch sound, a TV Classic would be best choice. The T-style is just a really great Tele neck pickup, but doesn't really wander too far from the Fender sound :)

I get a microphonic squeal on the bridge pickup when using overdrive which makes it unusable in live situations. Neck PU is clear and sounds really good.
