Great goal by Mac. I wish someone would make a collection of Lidstrom's defensive plays like that stick play early in the clip. It probably wouldn't be that entertaining, but it's plays like those that show Nick's supreme hockey sense.

I met McCarty at the St. Patricks Day Parade in Downtown Detroit and he was the coolest and one of the nicest person ever. He was a hero in Detroit and it was amazing it just see him sitting in the crowd and people walking right by him not even recognizing him

The funny thing is , all you hear about is McCarty and the grind line. But look at all his biggest goals and who he is on the ice with. Yzerman, Federov, konstantinov, to name a few. Just goes to show he had some real talent for a coach to put him on with those great players. Reading his book now and getting a total appreciation for him and his career.

It's a great goal but I don't really see why that is. I mean, consider the circumstances--it was Game 4, Detroit was up 3 games, it was the 2nd period, they had the lead, Philly wasn't showing any threats at that point--there wouldn't have been a lot of tension at a point like that is all I'm saying.
