I agree with adding a T rather than a 20lb tank. In addition to just being a Mickey Mouse way to do it, anytime the rig starts using propane at a pretty good rate, the 20 lb tank and regulator will freeze up. An HVAC pro taught me this recently. I told him I got a bunch of 20lb cylinders for my dual fuel portable generator. He said the 20 would freeze, and at under 1/2 hr run time it froze up. A 30 lb or larger cylinder does not freeze because the boiling level where it's super cold is farther away from the tank valve and regulator.

i have a request, i would like to see how to hook up a portable bbq to the propane system on an rv. from what i read, having two regulators in series is not ideal and of course portable bbqs have a built in regulator. in my case, the bbq is a weber traveller. there is a pipe tee in the line down the length of the trailer and one "leg" of that tee fitting has a pipe plug. i would like to have a quick connect there or a hand tighten coupling for a flex line to the bbq. also what can i do about the bbq's regulator?

I, for one, do not understand what you are saying. First you mention regulators in series. Question: why? Then you say there is a low pressure (after the regulator) line along the RV where you want to connect your bbq, then you ask what to do with the bbq regulator. To me, this sounds like you are pressurizing the RV line by two sources: ASME tank and bbq tank. This is the whole topic that Darrell is covering. His caution is that he does not know what pressure your bbq regulator puts out - dangerous if it is too high because that line directly feeds your RV appliances.

@@bobblack3870 no, i want to use the propane system on the rv to run my bbq instead of the cylinder on the bbq

@@stevem268 It's my understanding that you would need to eliminate the BBQ monted régulatrice since the trailer 'gas' is already régulated

I want a backup to feed my fridge if my RV regulator fails. A LTV Unity RV, tank under the coach, Marshall regulator 2 feet away. I carry a spare, but not something you want to change while boondocking somewhere remote in the rain... (happened to us once...). The idea is to feed through the BBQ quick connect with a separate propane bottle. We have a solenoid to shut the TV tank instead of going under to close the small valve. If the regulator fails, it does not help to feed high pressure behind the defective RV regulator. Beside the 11 inches water column regulator, any other recommendations ?

just carry a spare regulator

I have a spare. But when it is 9 PM and raining, you want a quick alternative....
