It surprises me how so many fans on facebook missed this detail when comparing him to Vader. I mean, think of how fast you'd have to be to hit every single drop of rain in the middle of a storm to be still bone dry. You'd be a living blur, which is something neither Anakin or Kenobi would be capable of repelling.

The idea of pairing combining lightsaber Forms is fascinating because there's so many combinations and ways the combos would their root Forms. I personally wonder what a combination of Soresu and Makashi would look like. In my mind I imagine it looking similar to Polish Saber Fencing, using a flowing cycle of slashes in an almost figure eight pattern at the front to quickly parry and riposte enemy attacks with maximum energy conservation for defense and rapid thrusts combined with linear footwork for quick attacks and offensives.

@@allenyork3239 I remember from the books, he did lose control during fights, and at one point had even been driven into such an uncontrolled rage, that he destroyed the camp that he and Zannah had constructed on Ambria. Zannah even points this out, using it to her advantage so he might remove the armor and she'd stand more of a fighting chance against him. Bane had also had other issues with the Orbalisks. If I'm remembering correctly, the whole reason for his rage/destruction of that camp, was that he kept failing to create his own Holocron. The reason for that was because the Orbalisks fed off his force energy and made him weaker in it, so he didn't have enough power to construct the Holocron

His logic seems sound enough regardless of the chosen saber forms. Becoming a master of both Offense AND Defense theoretically allows for no combat weaknesses. At LEAST he'd become nearly unbearable in battle if nothing else. Something I'd imagine is rather important if your one of ONLY a couple remaining members of your faction

The Darth Bane trilogy has been my favorite Star Wars book by far along with Revan. I agree with a majority if not all you have said. Personally I think I would choose to adopt a similar style using these two forms but throw in Makashi as well.

Kasim did hold back many techniques while teaching Bane because he had a feeling that he would have to kill some of his students, like Jar Kai, but Bane still prospered under his teachings and became a swordmaster.

Power gap between Bane and Plagueis is astronomical. Besides, the Sith after Bane always gathered new knowledge.

The female jedi battlemaster that was on the strike force to takeout Zannah and Bane was a better dualist than Bane. Bane only survived due to the orbalisk protecting him from her saber strikes. She found a weak spot on his wrist and was able to hit him, which caused Bane to scream in pain and at thr same time creating a force push that knocked the jedi off their feet. Bane got up first and killed what was left of the 5 man strikeforce

Swordmaster Kasim would've beaten Bane if the two engaged after Kasim separated his dual bladed saberstaff into 2 separate blades. Kasim taught Bane how to defend against multiple styles and weapons, but NOT against an opponent with a lightsaber in each hand. Bane used thr force to topple large stones onto Kasim at the temple they where the dual occurred.

He wasnt more skilled in lightsaber combat, than Kas'im. He was losing the saber battle. Ran away from him and killed him with his forcepowers. He broke the Temple they fought in before Kas'im could leave it.

For curiosities sake, just gotta ask: we've seen a lot about Lightsaber forms and Force techniques, but we've all seen time and time again that even some of the most powerful Force Users can be felled by ordinary people. Especially the Mandalorians come to mind, their earlier generations specializing in fighting Jedi and specifically waging war against the Republic just so they could have a go at the, in their opinion, best warriors in the galaxy. And from what the Legends stories show, especially about the Mandalorian Wars, they were good at it too. What techniques, gadgets and weapons, besides the obvious answer of Beskar armor, made them so deadly to Jedi?

Something tells me it has a lot to do with taking advantage of a Sith's Ego and a Jedi's nobility. A Sith is going to look down on you and under estimate you because you lack the force and a Jedi is going to typically hold back to some level. Both being fatal mistakes when up against a Mandalorian.

Weapons and gadgets are suitable: a flamethrower, bullet weapons, sonic weapons, explosives, a sniper rifle, an element of surprise and, most importantly, good preparation. You can also use their moral principles against them. In the game Kotor 2, two of your companions (Atton and HK-47) can tell you how deal with them, you can search on KZbin video about HK

Form V Djem So gave Darth Bane powerful offensive capabilities for lightsaber vs lightsaber combat while Soresu gave him a strong defense against lightsaber and blaster bolts attacks. However, there is another form that might have been more appropriate to complete his Djem So and that form is Shien, the other (and original) variation of Form V. Shien, after all, is essentially Soresu with a focus on creating an immediate counter-attack after an initial defense against blaster bolts, just like Djem So also does for lightsaber vs lightsaber combat. I would argue that Djem So + Shien offer the same benefits as Djem So + Soresu but as a bonus share the same general combat principle, contrary to Djem So and Soresu that are complete opposites (offensive vs defensive). Thoughts, anyone?

Yes and no, yes because he has knowledge of all 7 forms like his master Plagueis and can switch between each one as he deemed so. No, because if you’ve seen how both Anakin and Obi Wan fight then you’ll know that hardly anyone would’ve been a challenge. Still though, it as his defeat goes. His fall was due to Sith Sorcery which he didn’t have good defenses against. I would compare Bane’s form 5 to be similar to how Malgus fights, like a brute yet with the added defensive barrier of form 3.

Sidious is likely to gain the upper hand, for the Sith have evolved in all directions since Bane. Sidious is much faster, anticipates the opponent's movements better and can withstand Savage's enormous physical strength.

Depends on which version of sidious! There was a time like Phantom Menace Sidoous could probably be beaten by Bane. But after Sidious killed his master he got a huge power amp. Ultimately I think Bane’s skill would be a challenge to any version of Sidious but post Phantom Menace would if really pressed resort to his vastly superior force power. Also Sidious is a master of Jar Kai which gave Bane a fit when Kasim used it against him.

How does Vader in the same class of duelist as Bane? Bane never lost a lightsaber duel after he took the darth title (technically he never did at all since they used toxin tipped swords at the academy). Vader looses several duels to weaker opponents than what bane fought. Vader is good and all but…not sure they belong in the same class.

A loss is a loss and Bane was not invincible not too mention Vader was crippled and had to redefine himself in every way but he did so. Bane never was crippled and his parasite armor mean he could use the full wrath of his lightsabrr style without adhering to any defensive moves he needed. Though Bane made blunders he was nearly killed by a Jedi Master he wrote off as not being a worthy combatant do to the Master's only advantage being battle meditation to go for an immediate kill on a more seasoned but medicore Jedi Knight called Johun. This was a fatal mistake as the Master he failed to kill trapped him in a force bubble just as he was unleashing force lightning that fried him an extreme fatality, if it wasn't for his apprentice, Zannah he would've died. This is comparable to to massive blunder that Vader made don Mustafar which cost him almost everything. Bane and Vader were extremely powerful and aggressive fighters but regardless of their strength can make blunders that has lead to close calls on their morality. No matter how strong one is over the other if battle tactics are not used wisely you will die.

@@JohnnyDominion you are correct. I am very familiar with the 4v1 (with one of them being a Jedi battle master) and that fight demonstrates my point. The mediocrity of Johun was the difference between Bane barely winning and Bane being backed against a wall. Don’t forget even with Johun there Bane very nearly kills the Ithorian. That action is what allowed Zannah to beat her opponent so she can return the favor. I find it interesting both Bane and Vader have a duel very early on in their Darth careers in which they are both outmatched/outplayed. Bane recognized defeat was incoming (from the sith battle master) and changed tactics to win. Vader did not. If Vader followed in Bane’s steps the universe would have been drastically different (and I would argue Palpatine would have killed Vader before he became powerful enough to challenge his master)

Darth Bane is complex Sith figure, he was the epitome of the ‘Rule of Two’ era Sith. Even though, most of his predecessors were scheming opportunists, he was a warrior as was Zannah. Although I think he really meant that there should only be One Emperor out of two Darths, then some lesser lords, acolytes, and initiates. Less Sith overall, he wanted a reform, I think Bane would have been impressed by Maul, Ventress but not Sidious and Plagueis. There needs to be initiates to scare the acolytes, to startle the Lords which frighten the Darths, and freaks the f*ck out of the Empire. Inspiring Fear to make them all push beyond limits, and to try to ensure that they don’t die out and be erased.
