I got really lucky, I bought my black series helmet for only 20$ at Wall Mart, the packaging was in terrible condition, but all the pieces were in seperate plastic bags and were in perfect condition.

That's a damn good price. I haven't looked THAT hard but the best price I've seen for the Luke/Red 5 helmet is $80 for Black Series. They're coming out with an ultra-expensive version for $400 that I'm SURE will have all the scuffs Luke got on the helmet in Star Wars during the Death Star attack! Yeah -- I don't see a big difference. With the Vader helmets, the Black Series is definitely more accurate. If you're gonna be "inaccurate," the coolest Vader mask is the concept version that sort of resembles Vader's appearance in Star Wars: Rebels. It's a MEANER-looking version of Vader, almost sneering at you.

I love the Black Series’ mechanical breathing when the helmet is off and it’s on the neck brace part, I just love the sound of the forced breathing to show that Vader needs the mask on fully to breathe.

In person do you think there's much a of a difference appearance wise? If I were to buy a Vader helmet it would be for mostly display purposes. The only thing I don't like about the $30 helmet is the way it sits back.

There is a very big difference in the look. The cheaper one is smaller, less shiny and lacks the details like a detailed front grill. Having said that, if you’re a diy guy, you could probably do a sweet paint job on it and make it look better.

I've got an older Vader helmet from about 20 years ago...it has a connected chest piece with a voice changer...it's pretty sweet. I'd put it right in between these two... definitely better than the cheap one but the black series has cooler details when the helmet is removed.

I've considered purchasing a few of the Black Series helmets, especially the clone ones for display purposes. However, most of these helmets are $200 to $240 in Australia. With the exception of one of the clone helmets, which I have seen for $130. Same with the Black Series Force FX Lightsabers, always wanted them as display items, but they're $280 for most, and as high as $350AU for the more expensive sabers in that particular series.

Arrived today from Amazon for 60 bucks (Canadian) and it's pretty impressive. Love all the detail on the helms exterior and interior and it doesnt feel uncomfortable to wear. Very nice that they added different sfx for when the helmet is fully assembled and when its just the collar. Great review showing off different angles of the helmet and how it looks and feels when worn. This video was what I watched before I finally decided to buy the helm so thank you.

The black series is muuuuch better than the deluxe. Not to mention the inaccuracies of the deluxe. The black series is the pinnacle of affordable Vader helmets. Lenses on black series are great in terms of shape but the color is wrong. I’d recommend grabbing some red/dark brown window tint film.

I got mine yesterday off of Amazon. It’s a really tight fit but I managed to get it on my fat head. Other than that it’s a magnificent piece with a startling attention to detail. The voice fx are loud and compliment the piece perfectly (love the labored breathing and helmet removal sounds.). Mine is displayed next to my Legendary Yoda. This piece is a must have for Star Wars collectors and cosplayers. Great review, Chuck. You have my sub

For me its easier to leave the face and bottom mouth piece attached and remove the back collar, then put the whole face on and then clip the back piece on.

My only issue with the black series version is the eyes part. It's properly see through so you can see the eyes of the cosplayer. I hope with the re-release that they're bringing out, that they've fixed that issue as I want to cosplay as Vader at Scotland Comic Con this year (IF everything is up and running by October!)

Great job on this review. I have seen the helmet in stores and this video has made up my mind for me!!! Im Sold! The one thing that gets me is with all this detail and effects is why a voice changer was not put in. That would have made for the perfect package!!! I can get a voice changer and make it work but it would have been so incredible to have it included. Again thank you for a great review and compairison.

An amazing mask with great bells and whistles, but one little problem. The lower jaw piece should have had an extended plastic that runs under the wearer's jaw down to the front of their throat. As it is if you wear this with a Darth Vader costume you'll have an exposed throat.

Sadly, it does not. It breaths 4 times and quits. I. Sure there is a sfx generator that will do what your looking for that you can mount to a helmet. Don't know off the top of my head. Anyone else???

I think the $30 mask is Vader's mask on Rogue One, while the other one is Vader's mask on Star Wars saga. But I still have question on my mind why they don't complete the expensive one mask with kind of panel for the Vader's voice changer while his breath is already there. Does it will be exist on next generation of Darth Vader's mask?

Yeah, I feel a voice changer would have been easy to add, however they tried that with the Black Series Storm Trooper helmet and it really sucked. I’m glad they’re learning from their mistakes and at least they put the breathing feature in there. Thanks for the comment, dude!!!!!!

It is such a cool helmet, and I love it. I have it displayed next to my Kylo helmet and stormtrooper helmet (Glad I bought those when I did). I have my Poe helmet on the way to complete my collection, as I don't count the shadowtrooper or shocktrooper as their own helmets.

Great Question. It IS a large helmet (not as large as the one on Think Geek). So yes, it will fit, but it will be a tad wobbly. There is no adjustable strap inside like in the Stormtrooper helmet. If you get one, let us know what you think. Thanks for the comment!!!

It's basically a large toy, though, not a replica. It is not the full-size of any version of the filming originals. I had hoped it wouldn't have a bad injection pour wart on the top of the helmet but it does. And if you have a decent-sized neck (i.e. 17") you may find you cannot get the collar to close around your neck.

The cheap one i have and heavily modified it , cut changed grills new mesh , sun glass lenses cut to fit, , i used a hasbro voice changer helmet that fits, i got metal tusks put on it, put fans in it to cool , dosnt quite look as it did, thats the cheap one you have on display that looks close to Don posts first helmets that came out helmet Thanks

I don’t get why there isn’t one master mold for every Vader helmet. Anything that isn’t Black Series or better looks off-model, and you’d think Disney wouldn’t want that. Is this just to push sales on the more expensive ones & have people avoid the cheaper ones?

I think if you are just looking for a nice costume by the cheaper one but if you are a hardcore fan or want a display piece then buy the black series one
