@@Jinkypigs I personally disagree and feel LE, while a good game, is not comparable to Grim Dawn in the slightest because its much more modern in its design/mechanics then GD. LE has MTX, seasons/live service stuff, the campaign is mid at best, and the focus is much more like POE where endgame is the entire point of the game. GD on the other hand has a phenomenal campaign with tons of exploration, secrets, dungeons,..etc and is much more of a classic aRPG with no MTX, no live service aspects,...etc. Both are good aRPGs but imo they are not for the same audiences which is why I personally didn't care for LE compared to more oldschool aRPGs.

In case you don't know GRIM DAWN was created by a team that worked on the original TITAN QUEST. When the company they'd made TQ for went under they bugged out together taking the TQ engine with them. They then formed their own company and reworked the TQ engine, coming up with the GRIM DAWN engine. Somehow GD had been out for years without me even hearing about it. I finally discovered it around Thanksgiving of '22, SIX full years after its debut. I LOVE THE GAME!!!! I've played it off and on ever since, but at the moment I am currently on it. I started a new Occultist last night that I am taking on a "Dreeg's Evil Eye"/Acid & Poison damage path. For the record your vid just showed up so I thought I'd take a look. Grim Dawn is my go-to ARPG when I am bored between POE leagues but still want an ARPG to play. I have hundreds of hours into it, multiple decently min-maxed lvl 100 characters, and it's amazing how much content the devs have released over the years, and another xpac is coming next year! Definitely an underrated gem of a game.

@danm20842 ай бұрын
A great, but pretty minor feature of grim dawn, is being able to attach movement abilities onto your gear, so any class can have a charge. Combined with being able to rotate the camera, means you can rotate it so the corner is in the direction youre heading, and then you spam the charge ability. As soon as an enemy gets clicked on, practically off screen up in the corner, your character zooms ahead, sometimes traveling around corners, around bridges, all the way to that enemy, as long as theres an open path. You can travel so far so fast that way, and it feels very good compared to diablo 4's charge abilities. Its very responsive and makes it fun as hell just to go from point A to B.

Still one of my favorite ARPG's. Demolitionist has skills that are flammable. no flame thrower to be precise, but they can toss out molatov cocktails, drop mines that spew flames, bombs, grenade launchers. Fire fire fire! You can even have a gunslinger. occultic gunslingers, Hex based slingers, all kinds of cool combos. I think the style of the clothing and buildings is where you gat that old west feel. Especially once you get into the first expansion and hit the city of Malmouth, it has a very solid western/steampunk vibe to it. The "6 shooters" also probably help add to the vibe. My favorite build (outside of a few gunslinger styles) is Sorcerer, its a demo/Arcanist build that pretty much lights the entire screen on fire, with 2 massive meteor/Armageddon spells in addition to 4 others that blow everything up. fun times.

Grim Dawn actually has fairly active community made seasons / ladder resets. I highly recommend playing those when they are on, even when they are technically a mod. They come with their own proprietary launcher for easy install, global chat and cheat protection. They give the game the much needed community aspect , resets/ reasons to replay again, and endgame content. They also add new content in the form of a whole new act and new legendary / MI items for even more builds. The seasons are basically what made Crate give the game an upcoming expansion start of next year , because they keep a core part of the community so engaged with the game. Season 7 should be right around the corner actually.
