I think quite like you on this, bigger the target the better and easier to hit, my routing that I use for practicing finishing is I practice these doubles mainly, which are, double 20,10,5,18,9,16,8,4,12,6,3 and bull, because these are usually the doubles you leave yourselves in a game. And finishing is my strong part of my game by practicing this.

132. If I hit the bullseye I'd go T14 next dart anyway. You can go whichever way you want if you're going to hit it but if you lose because you basically refused a chance at the bullseye (same for your way around 126) you'll get crucified. Double double is fine but for me it's only an option when you've only got 2 darts in hand. An interesting take on finishing though, thanks Dave

i love finishing a double double where i can. it can get you out of trouble if you hit a single when you need a treble then you just double that same number then on to next double for finish.
@jonasw123

The problem is if you play a normal level like avarages from 70-80 you are more confident on the triples .If you have 76 i would go for the triple 20 because you are scoring at the triple 20 the same for triple 19 . I think this method is better for high level dart player. PS: Sry for my bad english im fron Germany.

no no this level is logic and good for everyone 72 16s for tops hit single then its another 16 for tops is this not obvious as it is to me.

Even the pros have less than 50% finishing stats in most matches, proving more doubles are missed than hit. Double double combos have a time and place, with two darts left and opponent on a finish. Personally I've never avoided D9 or D5, but it's great to see the many different ways people count and board manage.

Great video. Definitely changed my way of thinking so I'll give it a go. Although, doubles aren't double the size of trebles. They're wider but not as tall. Haven't measured it myself but looked into it online and it seems that doubles are 1.5x the size of trebles
@DynamiteDaveLlewellyn
@DynamiteDaveLlewellyn Жыл бұрын
Yep your dead right they are not technically twice the size its just a figure of speech to emphasize the fact they are way bigger and therefore easier to hit.

Dave no,brass darts, not quite Jim pikes, cost me 50 p used real feathers at some stage, not long after came out copper tungsten and 3 years of riding on a crest of a wave, Boris is just an Alias but my initials are B.B from the County of Shropshire and have played for my home county plus Montgomery and Radnor. Interesting your comments about both eyes vision, I've tried many slight variation of style and was very successful throwing from the side of my head as per you, however, I've just recently gone back "40" years and now aiming with my right eye looking through the gap between thumb and index finger, my left eye is not restricted by my hand, what i see is the board and two out of focus thumbs which disappear once i get into the groove,.

Good video. I think I learnt the 81 finish from one of your videos? T19 D12, If miss T19 Then T12 D13, If I miss T12 With a S12 Then Bull. I like these! & need more! My maths isn't that great to do it fast enough to keep my natural flow with my arrows:( With the 81 Finish I can now throw at my natural pace which in turn I hit more %. So thank you! If I hit S7 with my first arrow my head turns to mud though!! haha. Any more rotation finishes would be great. A series with 80-90 finishes then 90-100 etc would be amazing!

Awesome videos Dave theyve really been teaching me alot of what I needed to know on the mental side of darts now that I've been playing competitively for a couple of years it's helped alot.. Do you have any videos that go more in depth with following through to the board and having a consistent release? One of the main thing I've been struggling with quite some time now no matter how much I keep telling myself to do it at the oche it always goes out the window at tournaments lol any help would be highly appreciated, cheers bud

Dave great videos mate and your an excellent teacher but your logic on these finishes is diabolical.. 126... T20 T20 D3?? If you hit the T20 you wouldnt risk going for another. T16 and if you hit the big number you get a chance at bull. Also mate trust me the pros arent copying you. Master that Burnley B flight first.. Keep it up tho mate. My son loves the videos and your an excellent teacher... respect :)

Hi Ronny Mate if your the real one I love watching you and your kid Kim play his flamboyance and your steely determination. My core thinking is doubles are bigger than trebles and therefore easier to hit I do understand obviously that certain finishes mean if you miss a treble you may get a shot at bull. yes I can see t 20 t20 double three is a risk but for me if your there stay there. but by using my method in practice it forces you to use the doubles and as we say its. Its doubles for dough. Also if you build your skill on the doubles to a point you know your going to hit them if you do go D16-D top with three in hand for 72 and do it two or three times. "your opponent will be knocked sideways". I did it last night 132= t20 tops for16s 140= t20- tops for tops put one in and one next to it. you already have the arm speed and pitch distance locked in so why change. and don't forget as I always say this is all subjective have a go if it works for you then fantastic if not the just take the bits that do. Much respect to you to mate if your at the UK open in march let me know and we can have a pint and a chat. I will be doing the qualifiers in 2019 for 2020 if my knees are sorted im way to old but I will give it a go. Cheers D Dave.

66? D15 D18? really? I mean how often do you miss outside the 15? then you get zero darts at a double. At least T10 D18 route when you miss you still get a shot. I don't care if the doubles are bigger target, Im going to Guarantee a dart at a finish when possible.

I agree with you. Anyway when you use d15-d18 you may shoot in wire between big 15 and d15, so this is no problem if you hit big 15, you may than go to 19 and d16. You no need to hit directly d15, because this is not finishing yet, sooo anyway i will try all this by myself. Thanks for video!
@kieranwoolston9183
@kieranwoolston9183 4 жыл бұрын
The logic behind it sort of makes sense but the maths behind it does the exact opposite. Which is why pros don’t do this often. If you’re on 80, pros go T20 D10 because if they miss they hit 20 and then can 20 d20. If they miss the d20 once and then go for it again and hit 20 they can’t finish. For most of the finishes you mention it’s better to go the mathematical way. However if a player in a pro game is already on an easy double then this is when the double double comes in as like you said it’s easier to hit logically, but overall it’s better to go for the mathematical way. You still have a great point but not for all the time you should just use it for times when the opponent should finish on the next visit

wow MVG watch out lol thanks Lee mate yes the subs are growing steady now and the message must be good very very few detractors on the channel and I think that's because if a player just take little bits and tries them it makes a difference to there game. The biggest thing of argument is my finishing like in this video but I have found again its working for players the current perception was not the perception in the 70s and todays may not be in the next decade or so I finished about 10 legs in live play yesterday on double double finishes now if I need 132 its sound mad but I go T20 D16 D top I hit a 140 T20 tops tops and its now giving me way more ton plus finishes than ever. im mowed out with coaching vids and advice emails I am like a ping pong ball again but I love it just wish I could monetise it to the point I could do it full time. But good things come to those who wait and I will keep keeping on till that Day all the best lee mate D Dave...

The 132 isn't logical though. If you miss the treble you can't go out with remaining two but hit the 25 you can still go out and have a marker in the bull. The 25 is a big target! Well explained though

Sorry but when you have 10 left you should go straight for the double as every double is the same size just be confident in hitting you. You are just teaching people to be scared of certain doubles which isn’t a good mind set as sometime you have to go for these doubles also double double is good in some situations like if you have 80 or 72 but not every situation you shouldn’t tell people that’s what they have to go for go for what ever you feel comfortable some people are confident in hitting a treble I have a question Dave if you’re on 92 and your opponent is on 32 how will you go for the 92?
@DynamiteDaveLlewellyn
@DynamiteDaveLlewellyn 5 жыл бұрын
Firstly in almost every one of my videos I state my advice is subjective what works for me may not be what you think is right and you are under no obligation to take the advice or even watch the videos. secondly you say I shouldn't tell people the way they should go straight are saying (when you have 10 left you should go straight for the double as every double is the same size). hummmm. thirdly as I have said on so many occasions you go for what you are comfortable with you may be crap and comfortable so you will remain comfortably crap and everyone is happy. and finally 92 for me is T20 if hit 16s -8s ect. if T20 missed and hit single 20 its D16 D top. I personally wouldn't know what an opponent were on if we were playing for money I stand with my back to an them and dont look I dont talk I just play im not one for inflicting pressure on myself.

I'm also left handed at darts. I know most people struggle to even throw darts with their other hand but I'm kind of ambidextrous. Although when I throw right handed I spin the dart and the 20 looks like it's around at the 12 position. Think it's something in the brain.

his finishing advice is the opposite of logical , the logical way to go is the one that results most often in getting a shot for the leg , the 126 , T20 T20 D3 for example if you miss the first dart the finish is no longer on , where as the logical way gives you more margin for error and more chances to take out the leg ,
