Here's some more detailed info about these darts... dartsmarts.com/gen3.html

I have a set of gen 2 and gen 3. In 2004 They shut down their website for direct sales. You could only buy through a dealer. In 2005 they announced for pre-sale the gen 3 darts. Which shipped around Dec 2006. So not quite as ancient as the 1990s. I was pretty sure this was the time for these darts as I was playing a ton of darts with my Irish and South African friends. I also started working as a locksmith and had a bit more cash to play with. I also did some research on internet archive way back machine. Found a ton of info there. Darts have come a long way. That was almost 20 years ago at this point but they are still really nice feeling darts. They hold up. 0:42

Thanks for sharing. Yeah, here in the USA we all fell for the movable point stuff while everywhere else in the world it was seen as a gimmick. These are nice darts and I know a couple people who still use them for soft tip darts. I loved the barrel but the points are relics from days gone past

I still break my GEN 3’s out every now and then. Very durable. I pre ordered my set and had to wait almost a year to get them. I got one of the first sets mailed out and the points weren’t hardened. I instantly asked my good friend, Rob Spears, to make me a set of screw in points. I love them with the fixed points. I use CUESOUL ROST Integrated Dart Shafts and Flights Medium,Diamond Shape. They fit and fly nicely.

This was such a good soft tip dart I used to play with them all the time. I still have set somewhere in my dart collection wish I could score a new set I'd still play them on my soft tip league.

I had a set of Keith Deller boingy darts back in the day. Would be worth a few bob these days. Wish I still had them.

Worldwide, really good review of some nostalgic darts. I agree that alot of American players in the 80's & 90"s used to throw darts with the moveable points. I shot for years with a few sets of the Bottlesen Hammerhead darts. Thanks for the old memories.

Entertaining for sure. Did these come out before hammerheads? I didn't understand the draw to spring loaded. Great video as usual sir. Thank you.

These came well after Hammerheads. The company wasn't around long but it was late 1990's to early 2000's.

As far as i remember these darts where for sale around 2003/2005. I had 2 sets of the first version. Overall a nice dart. Nice review as always

LOVE IT!!! I have a set at my dad's house. They were my first set i spent "real money" on. I believe they were $120 back in 1998. I figured if i spent a lot of money it would make me a better player. Mine are 26 grams. WWD you think bouncing out of the sisal is entertaining try bouncing them off a wire. I had one bounce back close to the oche of the board next to mine once. The player & chalker both said WTF??? 😂 Great video! Lots of fun remembering why i love this game! 🎯

Thanks! Awesome to read that you have a set! They've got to be right up there with them being one of the most rare sets of American darts.

Another great review. I enjoy all of your reviews. I’m trying to get away from the movable points. I have a set of the bolide darts that I really like.

Yeah, I'd imagine the spring takes a lot of the incoming force away, leading to more bounce outs. Good thing you have a hell of a throw! I bet mine would fall out all the time!

Definitely a nice little vid. Always a fan of unique sets. I was actually going to shoot you a text today, but this will save me from having to find my phone. lol Did you see Dartshopper will be carrying to the steel tip Japan Crux?

Also noticed Reflex points are ridiculously quite hitting the board as well. Wonder if the sciency stuff means that if the barrel has a chance to move back (or wiggle in the case of Reflex points) that all the sound travels out of the barrel backwards instead of into the board.
@WorldwideDarts5 ай бұрын
I did not but that's nice to know. I will definitely be picking up a set of the Crux Brave. Maybe another set as well.

Great review as always on a nostalgic set of darts. Spring loaded points are a total no go for me. Anytime I have ever tried using points like that I actually had even more bounce outs. The grip on the barrels is my favorite thing. Front to back without flat spots along the length. Barrel length is rather short and the fact that most modern shafts won’t even thread in is very bizarre. I think I would have to use them as soft tip only just as you stated. Keep the great reviews coming!

I saw these back in 2006/7 and the website advertised them as the best dart made. They claimed to have done research and testing on so many darts and the Gen-3 was their final design that would perfect your game. They also said that the flights they designed were specific for the smart dart as well as the shaft. The shaft they sent was a specific length to their dart. The points weren’t sharpened, but rounded so they bounced off the wire into a score block as opposed to just bouncing off the board. They had so many gimmicks to the dart. Not one thing about them made me want to spend $120 when a set of Phil Taylor Purist phase 3 darts was less than $60, and felt just as good to throw to me at the time. I now shoot 21 gram Grand Slam 3B, but I digress. As a collectors item, these are fun. As a serious dart, I wouldn’t use them.

Funny enough, my first set of "real" darts were a Dimplex type darts from Mueller's Sporting back in the 1990's and they had spring loaded points. More shocking is that quite a few American players still use a movable point system in their darts.

Thanks world wide never have i heard of spring points definetley different , great video . I wish the spinner shafts would dissappear like the spring loaded points did make American darts not so gimmicky ,maybe they would respect american darts a little more ????

We definitely have a different darting culture here in the USA. I just wish we would embrace 501 a bit more here. Everything is cricket and that's the game that most players here want to play. It's definitely holding us back a bit from competing with the top world class players
@eddiemurphy58335 ай бұрын
@WorldwideDarts totally agree sir I like 501 just fine but don't like it in soft tip very much because of full bull it's kinda boring actually .... let's see how many hat tricks we can hit

I have 2 sets of hammerheads and 2 sets of power points that go back to very early 90’s if not late 80’s. I rarely pull them out, but when I do, it’s magic all over again. Those were the darts I used the entire time I was a league shooter, and I can throw those darts like nobody’s business, muscle memory, I guess. I own almost 30 sets of some awesome darts, but if I were to go out and try to part people with their money again, I wouldn’t hesitate to pull out my old friends. I must respectfully disagree with your ascertain about the use of moveable points. When I started to play ALL of the local dart guys shot either power points or hammer heads it was the in thing and EVERYONE was doing it. So I just followed the recommendations or my mentors. In retrospect, yeah you’re correct, it was an unnecessary thing and very expensive. But I rarely saw any fixed point darts in stores back then

Being an American player I was convinced I needed a movable point to play. We ALL had them. My eyes were opened up in 1996 when I went to my first tournament ever, the Witch City Open. Every top UK professional was there... Phil Taylor, Priestley, Bristow, Lowe, Deller, Warriner, Harrington, Mason, etc... After watching them win absolutely everything I realised that none of them were using movable points. I was confused because how could that possibly be? I was under the impression that to be a "great" player you 100% needed a movable point yet here are these guys throwing lights out and literally all of them threw with the most basic darts you've ever seen. So from that point going forward I ditched all the gimmicky stuff and replicated what the best players were doing. If they're throwing 100 averages and kicking our asses in cricket with basic darts then there was no reason I needed a movable point to throw a 60 average. So basically that weekend taught me that us Americans LOVE gimmicks when it comes to darts.

Probably just have to replace the springs and they'd be good to go. Although a soft tip or a conversion point would be much better
