Darwin was originally just another pet goldfish for gumball because the other pets fish(s) died and the dad bought Darwin from a mysterious guy in a van, but Darwin and gumball ended up being more of a brotherly/best friend type of relationship than a pet and owner one. So no Nicole didn’t cheat on Richard and Darwin is now technically an adopted sibling.
