When I saw John Oates sing this live at their concert, I was just amazed at his great voice and sad for all the missed opportunities as he rarely got to sing lead.

First time I've heard this.....its great! But The Righteous Brothers, the Righteous Brothers....its their song!! Elvis did it too and did it his way, as he did to all songs he covered. Both covers great in their own way, but still it belongs to Bill and Bobby. "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" was the most played song of the 20th Century. Thanks for this Hall and Oates cover. First time I've seen Oates take the lead.

One of the rare cases where I love both the original AND the cover version! Also, I'm feelin' ya about the piano lessons. I could play by ear as a kid, but when my mom hired a piano teacher, I soon got bored with the lessons....if they had given me more upbeat music to play, I might have stuck it out! Bummer!

I put this version right next to the original. 👍 Always loved H&O Day 1. Glad you got to the right level of understanding with this group & appreciation for them. ❤ This is one of -the- very best music videos I've seen (I typically don't care for music vids, but some are awesome). I like when a video shows you where the action is and what each one is doing at the time they are doing it. And when the music and the singing is synced up correctly). I like to watch what a band is doing in addition to listening to them so I typically don't care for a totally unconnected story and a dumb drama that many of the early ones did in MTV time. Thx for this one, never saw this vid before.

They are awesome and have some great hits & my favourite is “How Much I Feel”, Biggest Part Of Me”, You’re The Only Woman”, Holdin on to Yesterday”, Leaving LA, Endings and many more. David Pack who is the lead singer wrote many of the hits and started the band in his garage. David Pack also had a solo career in the 80’s and 90’s. Love his voice and the beautiful harmonies of the band. The smooth lyrics on the love songs always tears at my heart. I enjoy the Prog Rock music that they started out with. Thanks for sharing.

The Righteous Brothers (Bill Medley and Bobby Hatfield) were the first "blue-eyed soul" white act that Phil Spector produced for. In 1964, he commissioned the husband and wife songwriters Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil to write this song for them. Spector ended up also writing parts of the chorus and bridge, so he shares the writing credit with Mann and Weil. In the studio, Spector ended up lowering the key and slowing the tempo down to match the range and style of Medley and Hatfield. Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil were married from 1961 until Weil's death in 2023. They were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1987, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010, and received the Johnny Mercer Award in 2011. Phil Spector was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1989 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1997. However, his legacy was forever tarnished after he shot and killed actress Lana Clarkson on 3 February 2003. After a mistrial due to a hung jury in 2007, 69 year-old Spector was tried again in 2008-2009, found guilty of murder, and sentenced to 19 years to life in the California state prison system. In 2021, Spector died in prison at the age of 81.
