Our 2009 RX had a dash cracking all over the place. We checked around and prices ranged from $1900 to $3500. We found the part for $622 at a dealer here in Phoenix. My wife and I decided to try it because of AMD's video. It went fantastic. It is not that hard if you are an automotive person. It took us three, 4 hour days. It's a big advantage to have a helper. We could do one now in one day. Our car has 70K miles and was really worth fixing. A tribute to Lexus is how perfect the new dash fits. We have lots of pictures. Thanks AMD

When this CCN video popped up i thought "im gonna do that myself" then saw that the removal footage was lost ...ugh. I'm still considering it but I like to do this stuff step my step for big removals like this. Did you have to use other removal videos to help you with the different steps?

Got the dash replaced free under Lexus recall on my 2004 RX330 several years ago. Dealer did a great job but they handed me an estimate of “ needed repairs “ that totaled over $6,000 !! One of they things they wanted to do was to replace the radiator ( there was nothing wrong with it ) I have an independent mechanic that services my RX. He looked it over & said everything was fine. Here I am several years later & my RX is still running perfectly ( without $6,000 in unnecessary repairs ) Take the service department’s recommendations with a grain of salt. It never hurts to get a second opinion.

Man, you are very good at your job!! Really good demonstration of how to do it right the first time! I would be very, VERY scared of having anyone, including a dealership replace an entire dash. Not with you, though! I can see your frustration working at a dealership with an un-cooperative Service Manager pushing you to "just get it done". I have seen mechanics, on my daughter's or wife's cars (I try to work on my own cars since they are super clean) not even replace body plugs, clips etc. and route hoses in the engine compartment incorrectly, just simple stuff like that. One time, the heater hose was crimped (so no heat, of course) and I got the service manager involved and the technician started making all kinds of crazy excuses. Being a Toyota dealership, it got resolved pronto!

Had to replace the dash on my 2007 Camry about 2 years ago. Toyota Corp, surprisingly, argued with me that I would have to pay for it since the campaign was over. I argued that I was never notified of the dash issue and that it was a serious safety hazard because of the reflection in the windshield. After some back and forth, they agreed to pay for the dash, and I paid labor. Although I was disappointed they argued with me, in the end, they did the right thing. This is why I keep buying Toyotas. Ahmad, I think you might have done the labor on that dash replacement - no rattles! 😊

I managed to get it all apart, and together again, but somehow had over 10 to 15 screws left over. I had no problems with the car, after that, but it always rattled like crazy until I dumped it a few years later. I got rid of half the rattles by shoving foam rubber into areas that made noise.......I have a good track record in repairing things that I'm not qualified to do.

Dealer said wiring harness, dash and bumper would need to be removed because window power went through bcm. I didn't accept that so I created my own wiring harness with its own circuit. Installed new window motors, regulators and switches myself. Looks like factory. Cruise control add on much easier, already prewired. Dashes are exposed to harsh sunlight, hot and cold cycles, and eventually suffer cracks, discoloration, etc. etc. Why don't engineers just design a dash where only the exposed portion can be removed and snapped or bolted into place without having to disassemble and remove the entire dash assembly. I am not an automotive engineer and may be way off base. Just curious. thanks

I checked the level on a cold engine with engine stopped and the level on the dipstick was way over the Hot mark. Its a factory filled transmission so unlikely that they overfilled, what gives?
