In this video, I share my experience of creating my own version of a product I found on Amazon that allows you to mount your devices in the Tundra dashboard. I created a plywood template to shape the HDPE plastic that would fit perfectly into that dashboard area. I then drilled holes in the plate to support my GPS unit, GoPro, and rearview camera for my RV. I could also switch this out to mount other devices quickly. I sanded and modified the third ball mount size to fit my RV, making the plate an excellent use of an unusable space in my dashboard.
Parts & Pieces:
Rago Dashboard Mount (the product that inspired my project) - amzn.to/40OtX9n
Small HDPE Plastic Plate - amzn.to/3nY4Pyo
1" ball mount - amzn.to/3MqwNwU
1" Ball mount arms - amzn.to/41cOxQA
Step Bit - amzn.to/40P8tcD
Garmin RV GPS - amzn.to/3Mr6vLe
Furrion Remote screen - amzn.to/3mjD2be
The added benefit of this setup is that none of the devices block my view of anything but the hood of the truck from my eye level when I look out the windshield. It makes it easy for my wife to access the GPS and change our route or add a gas stop. The plate is removable with three screws, and I can use it on any RV or truck. The plate allowed me to have all my devices in one place, and it made our RV trip much more comfortable and convenient.
