@@nelanncal Yeah, I am not too familiar with those rules, saw the "stop" signs on the opened doors and thought "wow, I would have probably started to do that" (being a NSW guy) but the car had VIC number plates, they should have learnt this rule to get their license?

But that's a bad design when you give people the opportunity to exit the tram on a road. If you put the tram one lane to the left and make it an official stop with those covered "sheds" people can wait in cover of rain and even the craziest drivers can't overtake on the sidewalk because of said shed or tram stop or whatever the correct word for it is. Or else you could leave the tram lane but make a slightly elevated island in between the car lanes, where it is safe for people to exit public transportation. Of Course, in general drivers should be aware enough to stop and passengers should look before exiting, but in reality everyone is busy with their own daily issues and easily forget about simple tasks like this. That's where better planned designs pay off.

@liberatumplox625 Жыл бұрын
@michaelscarport It's a fair point, but there's a road I travel daily that makes that very difficult for the residents there. It's an A-road route, and they'd essentially have to break the law by reversing in a main road. Doing so would not only be illegal, but it would also severely disrupt traffic and could potentially cause an accident. I'm actually pretty convinced that it negatively impacts the house prices there. That said, if I lived there I'd probably widen my driveway right up to the boundary lines, just so I could pull onto the pavement and reverse in without swinging the front of my car into fast moving traffic.

There's a huge difference between a school bus and a tram stop. School buses can stop anywhere at any time, and the signs are really there because kids can sometimes cross the street without looking. The bus will still drop off people in the pavement, not into a traffic lane. Trams are literally on rails and (should) have fixed stops at known locations. This is just very badly and dangerously designed. Even if the trams don't have specified stop locations, it should drop people off in the pavement, not in a traffic lane.

These crazy videos exist because no one is caught by mobile patrols anymore.

It can make you a safer driver. I am watching crash compilations for years now. I bet I've seen tens of thousands of crashes. Alfter all of that, you get to notice potential crash being developed while you drive, and you adjust ypur driving to fix other driver's mistake and thus avoid the potential collision. And leaving other driver completelly clueless about the fact that if there was someone else instead of you there, they might have ended up in a crash.
