The trouble with stupid people who make such comments is either: A) They don't realise that the person who made the comment they have replied to doesn't know that they have no concept of the process they have commentated about, which is why they made that comment. B) The person who made the comment DOES understand it and in fact it is the the person critisising them for not knowing about it who is the one who DOES NOT understand the concept of the process. I've been involved with logistics most of my adult life. I work with other drivers and the lorry drivers. If you see a lorry give them space, don't drive up the left side of them on a roundabout. They might be tuning left and they need room to make the turn. 99% of the time the drivers on the motorways are using them flawlessly. Monday to Friday the motorways are filled with people who spend most of their working life on a motorway. You learn to spot approaching hazzards, you can anticipate what that lorry in lane one is going to do, or what the traffic around you is going to do when the motorway splits into 2. But on Saturday and Sunday the motorways are full of drivers going to the garden center or to a theme park or visiting distant relatives. These drivers rarely use the motorway, and because you do not have to learn motorway driving as part of the driving test then you get a lot of nervous, frightened, inexperienced, people entering a very dangerous situation while having little skills to handle it. Passing the driving test on normal town roads and then being allowed to drive on a motorway is like passing your Pilots flying test in a little Cessna prop plane and then flying a Jet.
@likhwadube5937 Жыл бұрын
Driving a lorry on a motorway is a piece of cake compared to the tiny country roads and city centres where you pass your test. Not only do you negotiate tiny roundabouts and streets with pedestrians and cyclists everywhere, traffic lights are a few inches from your mirrors and you have pedestrians waiting to cross the road waiting about a meter from the lorry! And if you are unfamiliar with the area you have to process the road signs while trying to work out your route at the same time!

Clip 1. Tesco normally give a route on paper pre planned that you need to follow. Done a lot of work for them previously and every time it was route guided. I expect this was a sat nav guy ignoring the route planing and following sat nav. Saying that, I've been in a couple situations in London stuck but with active traffic not allowing me space to turn or wanting to move and everything got jammed up. Not much fun...Just to add, type 52 terrace road, swansea in and drop the google man for street view. You will see a church on the left. Just pass the church is a blue sign with a lorry and a red line through it showing no access, so the lorry defo shouldn't be down there. Clip 2. If the driver of that lorry hit the parked cars on that road, I expect he either had a medical emergency or was distracted and not paying attention. Glad no one was seriously injured. Hopefully some viewers can see how much a lorry can push along before stopping and think twice the next time they cut in front or brake check one. I doubt it though, such egotistical people tend not to think passed they're own little world. Clip 3. The driver should have stopped. I think the trailer was empty from how it went over. For any lorry drivers out there, if you have a strapped down load that's light or a completely empty trailer and the weather is really windy, just open your curtains and strap them around the rear doors. This will allow the wind to pass through the trailer instead of catching it like a giant sail. Generally speaking heavier load trailers tend not to tip although it has happened. Clip 4. I said it before in another video. If you're tired, stop! It isn't worth your or anyone else life. We have all been there and some have to learn it the hard way. Normally there is a lot of pressure to get things done and the sleeping times you get when tramping are scattered about a bit. Regardless, it's important to know your limits and learn to stand up to transport managers that will keep pushing you. They don't care about you, it's not their life and they will just go get some other person to do the job when you end up going to prison for wiping out a family. If you need to stop, do so and if they complain, record the call, call the police on them and also ask to speak to the person in charge of them so they do not continue to push other people to dangerous action because ultimately, it will land as your own responsibility because you are the one in control and making choice in the vehicle, not the mini fascist on the phone in the office. Clip 5. That happens more than you will ever believe. Pulling in behind the lorry, you would've lost 1 second at most because the traffic in front also turned off meaning you would be stuck behind them still anyway. Most people once again can't see passed their own nose. cutting a lorry up is stupid and will not gain you anything. You put yourself and everyone else are risk because you don't want to pull behind the big truck. As a safety perspective, being behind it is much safer than being in front of it. i would say a 1-2 second journey delay for safety is more than worth it. Clip 6. Not much to say here, these numpties didn't even master the concept of stopping the car before getting out and probably shouldn't be allow in a car without child locks all the way round. Defo shouldn't be driving one that's for sure. Clip 7. Tailgating and not paying attention. Not only did you put yourself at risk, you have now dragged a car with others in and a lorry with a driver and possibly a passenger in to your created mess. I noticed the impact from the other car being hit didn't set the airbags off, but the impact with the truck did. The car went from forward travelling to backward travelling like a newtons cradle. We can just be thankful it was a lorry coming the other way and not a family in a car. Imagine coming home, your wall is gone, there is a smashed up car parked on your freshly cut lawn and your living room is now open plan with your garden.... All because one inconsiderate person. The worst bit is, I would bet they still tailgate people. Clip 8. Driver misjudged the cars speed on the approach. Of the two options he had, I think he made the right choice be stopping, but probably shouldn't have been entering a roundabout so quickly if unable to judge the speed of others. It happens and minor compare to the others of today's video. Clip 9. If you are not able to control the vehicle at high speeds or in a skid, you probably shouldn't be going that fast round a corner. The car is a front wheel drive car too, so getting the back out really shouldn't have been such an issue to correct. Next time hopefully she won't be in such a hurry and will consider her and everyone else's safety a bit more. Again this is an incident where I'm glad it was a lorry coming the other way because I hate to think of what that impact would do to an oncoming car. A video where the commenter was not saying silly things! Now we just need the editor to stop doing the stupid camera zoom and angle routine and we will be on to a good thing!

@@Tigermoto I will have to try and see if there is a full clip. Currently I can only comment on what is see. What I see is someone out the sunroof which doesn't mean much and someone open a door early before the vehicle fully stopped, but the vehicle did stop. If it were someone who had been abducted, I don't think they would've been able to get the sunroof open to hang out or get the door open to get out. I'm not saying it isn't possible, I just don't think it's the case, but it could be. I wanted to find the age of this clip also as I expect it's old, but currently the car is SORN off the road and the mot expired in 2016. This channel does tend to find ld clips from lesser known channels and use them so it's possible that's the case. The other possibility would be this car is being used without mot or tax. I will try to find the clip as I said as there maybe more context given from it.

Easy driving, mostly motorways, and double manned so lots of breaks, and if i'm sent on a route / tour that I have not done before, I am always sent with a second driver who has experience with it, so even when some of the routes do take us down tight roads, I never get stuck as the second driver can always direct me through it. 6:33 im so confused? what on earth could have caused this accident? brake failure? Heart attack? I initially thought it was road rage, maybe the blue Renault was going really slow, but the way the Toyota seemed not to slow down at all after hitting the blue renault and ploughing straight into a massive HGV suggests to me that either they had suddenly turned blind or were having a heart attack or brake failure. Edit: Never mind I just realised! The blue Renault suddenly comes to a complete stop because they don't know how big their car is! They brake far too hard, far too early, and they don't even need to stop as there is clearly enough space to get past the van which is almost completely on the sidewalk. No doubt it will be the toyota's fault but driver's like this renault driver can be extremely dangerous.
@quadangalo Жыл бұрын
Regardless of if there was "clearly" enough space to get past the van, would you take the risk of squeezing past the parked van and a HGV approaching on the other side? I personally wouldn't, I'd slow down and give myself and the lorry enough room even if that means coming to a complete stop. The collision wouldn't have happened if the Toyota behind hadn't been so obnoxiously close. Sometimes harsh braking is necessary and it's everyone's responsibility to maintain a safe distance and react accordingly.

As a retired Class 1 driver, I would always park up then walk the route to verify I could get through, car drivers don't appreciate, an artic does NOT track in the same place when you reverse due to tire creep, so in a tight situation it is very hard to 'back out' of these problems. Can't understand the Tesco deliveries, most reputable logistics companies have an approved route to each store and restrictions on vehicle size to avoid these problems, hence 'urban trailers' steering rear axles etc

With new laws stating that the UK will allow even longer trucks on the roads, we may see more of video one. The lady in the Fiesta was very lucky, that is basically a blind bend and she could have hit a broken down vehicle in her lane, see this type of lack of foresight so many times on these winding roads and a work colleague years ago saw about seven vehicles run into the backs of each other in a lane on the way to Westerham because the front vehicle turned into a lane and the others all up each others tail pipes. Stay safe on the roads Folks.
@Stabby666 Жыл бұрын
The type of truck that will have longer trailers will be used for trunking work. You won't see them on those sort of backroads as they'll be carrying gooda between distribution hubs - mostly on motorways / dual carriageways. It's like the triple trailer setups in Finland, or roadtrains in Western Australia.
@stevenobrien3763 Жыл бұрын
The longer trailers have been on trial in this country for the last decade and will be mainly used on depot to depot trunking work just off motorways. They’re about 15 foot longer than a standard trailer so no need for anyone to get their knickers in a twist over really🤔🤷♂️

I had a narrow escape in very similar circumstances a number of years ago : my home in North Ayrshire is immediately after an unsighted minor road on the left . The Audi in front of me signalled he was turning left , but stopped abruptly mid-turn as he was confronted with a recovery lorry coming out of the side road ; I stopped safely , as did the very elderly WWII veteran in the car behind ; but the following six or seven vehicles had a massive pile up . The elderly gentleman behind me was extremely shaken up , and despite him walking with two crutches , we took him into our house for a cup of tea , and I moved his undamaged car off the road , before calling his daughter who came out to collect him .

The cars were legally parked. The truck shouldn't have been on that road.
