Yes they sang both "wake up" and "make up" in English. Both are things girls usually do in the morning, and both create a rhyme.

Yep, BABYMETAL is timeless. Joy/Happiness never goes out of style. I believe they will still be able to do "kawaii" in their 40's and beyond. 🦊 🖖 ❤

Nice one. I was wondering how long it would take you to realise this was the 2021 10th anniversary concerts at Budokan, not the 2014 Red and Black Nights.🤣 I think you were hearing things, there were no Yui vocals here, just Su and Moa ... Moa did say how good Su was at impersonating her younger self. If you didn't see the BABYMETAL Returns performance of 'Doki Doki Morning' from January 2023 yet do yourselves a favour and watch that - and I will also enjoy seeing just how long it takes you to work out what is happening there too.🥸

My wife and I saw Babymetal a few days ago in Cincinnati. We were on the front row. We didn’t get this song, but we got a lot of time with Moa and Momo right in front of us. Su was very much planted in the middle of the stage, mostly just moving forward and back, but she did come over during “Babymetal Death” and “BMC.” We had seen them before in Japan at Yokohama Arena back in March, but we were much closer this time.

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。This song was performed in all of "10 BABYMETAL BUDOKAN" concerts in 2021. That means I witnessed it 9 times at the venue. 😄 This song is about a school girl who overslept in the morning and got up quickly and dressed in haste asking repeatedly "what time is it now?. "Doki Doki" signifies sound of fast heartbeat. The girl also got excited looking forward to what was going to happen today at her school and in her future as well. "Wake up" and "Makeup" are the words in the lyrics. Dashy is right. Su, Moa and Momoko are matured and no longer school girls, but they revived this song in the 2021 mimicking their own childhood voices and lovable moves in the performance. I loved it.

Nice one, thanks! They rarely perform it since 2017. Only at 10 BABYMETAL Budokan, 2021 (x10), BABYMETAL Returns - The Other ONE, 2023 (x2) and Legend-MM, 2024 (x2). Being this their very first song it's more like their version of "fan service": cuteness overload. That main riff is surprisingly heavy though. And that's the point! 🤘🦊

🍑 ⚡ 💕 / 💓 ⏰ I was actually impressed how quickly you figured out this was a later performance, with Momoko as an avenger. 'Doki Doki ☆ Morning' covers all of those traditional Heavy Metal themes, like waking up excited for a new day at school, and deciding on your lip gloss and cute hairstyle for the day. : ) Moa noted how the tone of the song was directly opposite to Japanese kei-on music (light music). So the group formed under the label Jūonbu (Heavy Music Club) to signify the contrast.

Congrats, a better version is the show they did just before Momoko was revealed as the new member of Babymetal. With a great 'surprise' in the middle of the song. If you haven't seen it, it is worth watching. Check for Chibi Babymetal or Metalverse & Babymetal together.

10:34 the japanese word for "wake up" is 起きて (Okite), for "makeup" I think it's the same as in english; they do tend to use words in english in common situations, specially young people. Japanese language also incorporated foreign words to their daily vocabulary because it didn't have a word for that, for example the pink color, kiss, half-time job, or event the names of most of the other countries.

From Japan. Yes, the lyrics have two English words, ‘wake up’ and ‘make up’, and Su- sings them in English. Besides of those, the lyrics in 4th, 7th and 8th verses, they have in English, in order, ‘Wake up’ at 7:01, ‘Hurry up’ at 7:06, ‘Make up’ at 7:12, and ‘Version up’ at 7:18 (I think it is sorry that the translation is 'Updated' for the last one there, though..). They are a play on words, setting the tone (like rhymes with 'up') and at the same time expressing the ‘tranformation’ of a girl on a busy morning in order, I think. BM's songs or the live performances are really well done in terms of music, lyrics, choreography and others. Even if the lyrics are translated into English, I think you will / can notice those. Thank you from Japan!😊

Doki Doki Morning:- "Doki Doki Morning" (ド・キ・ド・キ☆モーニング, Doki Doki Mōningu, lit. "Heart-Pounding Morning", stylized as "Doki Doki ☆ Morning" and formerly "Do・Ki・Do・Ki ☆ Morning") is a song by the Japanese heavy metal band Babymetal. The song was released in Japan as an independent DVD single on October 22, 2011, serving as the first single off the debut album Babymetal. Background and release The song introduced all three members to heavy metal music; Nakamoto commenting how she had never heard such musical heaviness before, while Mizuno initially had more interest in dancing to the music rather than singing. During song production, the signature Kitsune hand gesture (similar to the sign of the horns) was formed. Vocals for the song were recorded on October 30, 2010. The song's first release was in the Sakura Gakuin album Sakura Gakuin 2010 Nendo: Message, released on April 27, 2011, as part of the Juonbu ("heavy music") sub-unit. The song was later announced as a limited-edition DVD single on October 12, 2011, and later released also as a standard digital download available on October 22 and 23, 2011 for pre-sale at the Sakura Gakuin Festival ☆ 2011 held at Mt. Rainier Hall "Shibuya Pleasure Pleasure", and later sold in limited quantities on ASmart, Amazon, Tower Records Online, and Tower Records Shinjuku starting October 24. The limited edition included a DVD with the "Doki Doki ☆ Morning" music video and a cut of the original video focusing on the choreography for live performances of the song, and a towel embossed with either the logo of the band or the label Juonbu Records. The single was later released as a CD single on April 6, 2012, packaged with a T-shirt. The song was later released as a promotional single in the United Kingdom on December 13, 2015. Composition:- The song has a "modern heaviness" sound in its music, with dark, atmospheric instrumentals that reverse into a catchier and brighter melody with lyrics such as "Rin rin rin! Ohayō, wake up" (Ring ring ring! Good morning, wake up). Kikuchi noted how the tone of the song was directly opposite to Japanese kei-on music (light music); as a result, the band formed under the label Jūonbu (heavy music club) to signify the contrast. Nakamoto, whose vocals were recorded separately from those of Mizuno and Kikuchi, needed to speak quickly but clearly in the verses. Live performances:- The song premiered at the Sakura Gakuin concert Sakura Gakuin Festival ☆ 2010 at the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse No. 1 on November 28, 2010. Regarding the group's first performance of the song, Su-metal explained, "What I remember clearly was during the interlude […] we all pretend to fall to the ground...I was afraid that people would just laugh at us and it would be embarrassing, but their reaction made me feel happy and at that time I thought this is who Su-metal is, this is what Babymetal is."

English words in Japanese songs are normal now, it was "trendy" or "cool" to use English in songs way back when, but very common now. Yui up until 2016/17, so between then and 2023 March would be avenger era. Always a great time!
