Even though you're flying in career mode, go into the settings from the main menu and turn on Live traffic. This will keep updating missions available in the career world map. I found myself doing jobs in an area, and quickly running out of jobs. They weren't refreshing. I found someone else having the same issue, and that fix. Now I have missions everywhere, all the time.

Sadly doesn't work for me. Just tried it but I still have whole areas, popular areas, without a single mission in freelance or employee mode. Like Rio, and Sau Paulo, two huge tourist areas, not one single mission anywhere near either one of them for me. Was hoping to find VIP missions there. Seemed logical to me :(

Two things: One, I should have watched this before starting my career haha. The changes to flight plan will make life so much better. Two, Sim Rate has four levels BELOW normal speed. So you can spam sim rate down and then hit sim rate up four times and you will be back and normal speed.

If you need soft-runway-landings for the agri-flights, just take a flightseeing from a soft/grass runway and once you achieve takeoff, just land again, take off agian, land again etc.. they will all count. (ofcourse, the guests will complain, but when eventually you complete the flightseeing or first flight, you still get your rating but you will have the extra landings going towards the agri-license) Thanks for the Tips, Squirrell, unfortunately, i've got a flightseeing company already... **derp** Loving the career mode as well.

A small correction there. To start your first company as a light cargo company you need 35K to cover both the subsidized Cessna and the 10K for the license for the cargo company. Still worth it for sure over a flightseeing company. Cargo jobs are more readily available in a lot more places and pay better. Before you buy your plane though look for a location nearby to where you want to base your plane that has a cargo job available. Take note of that airport and then buy your plane and place it there. That way you can start recouping your investment right away without having to pay for plane transfers right at the start. Also you don’t need to stop the EFB timer each time to check for changes to your sim rate. The timer will change its pacing each time you change the sim rate. Just start the timer whenever and keep it running. The timer will also show if you change the EFB to the map screen so you don’t need to keep it on the timer screen. Tips for sim rate. Like mentioned in the video the autopilot can cope with 2X most of the time so it’s the only sim rate setting I would fly without supervision. Sim rate at 4X is good as long as there’s no turbulence and you don’t need to turn much. For any significant turns go back down to 2X. Sim rate 8X is more risky so only do it on cruise, without turbulence and avoid any turns at all at 8X, monitor the plane closely to make sure it can actually handle that sim rate because some planes aren’t able to. Sim rate 16X is only for cruise in perfect conditions and not all aircraft will be able to handle it. Even the aircraft that can handle it need constant monitoring. Do 8X and 16X at your own risk.

As for insurance payments, it was stated on the official Flight Simulator forum, the server-side patch has been released on December, 6th which changes calculation of payments for insurance to be based on daily flight hours of your planes instead of total flight hours (implementation logic before the patch). Probably you can buy a couple of planes after this and re-check whether it alleviates "passive income pain".

Thank you for your advices. They will definitely help me. Regarding the fuel: When you prepare for the mission, there's 'Management' button in the 'Aircraft' rectangle. It also has checkmarks for the Fuel and Weight and another button for 'Change Aircraft' (like at 27:36). In the management, there's Fuel tab to choose and you can load whatever fuel amount you want. And yes, it costs the credits.

Thanks - a lot of very useful information. The best tip for me at the moment is the advice to reduce the taxi speed (C 208) with the mixer setting. It's stupid to control the taxi speed with the brakes. What happened to me: During an endless taxi ride at the gigantic Charles de Gaulle Airport, the brakes failed after 10 minutes of taxiing, which seens to be realistic if they overheat. As a result, I crashed into the hangar when trying to stop at the parking spot. Funny and frustrating, but probably realistic.

@@wolfgangernst1336 well the condition lever only really affects how low the turbine idles, at high idle it idles at a higher engine RPM which makes you taxi like crazy but in the real world with PT6 engines you mostly taxi in “beta” it’s were the blades are basically flat, so fast you get the initial momentum going you then go to ground idle but then if you taxi too fast before use the breaks go into beta which slows you down or maintains your speed. So in the sim if you want to use the high idle, when you go into high idle at ground idle power you will move like a banshee, and to save the brakes go past the detent on the throttle to the beta range, that should maintain your taxi speed but if you go even faster go even more back but just before you hit the reverse stop. But I would taxi with low idle and it makes taxi more natural to a C172 where you need to add power to start rolling, and it makes no difference on take off because like I said it’s only how low the engine idles.

for your sim rate : press minus util the minimum (1/16th) then press 4 times => 1/8th => 1/4th => 1/2 => 1x

There is no getting back to 1x once you go either direction. You're either at slow mo or 1.25x.

You should be be able to hire pilots and assign them to different aircraft. They'll each have their own certification, level, and rep. The salary you pay them is decided on their level(experience) and rep.

I needed to land on a very short runway that had trees right in front of the runway. So needed to fly over that and could not brake fast enough on the tiny runway. So yeah. The inspection of the flightpath would be a very good idea.

I was cleared to land on a runway with a 30 knot crosswind. I chose instead to land into the wind on a short cross runway. Unprofessional behaviour penalty. Until it’s patched it’s a bundle of frustration.

Crazy to see the small airport I grew up near pop up as your destination at @24:07. KEYQ is Weiser, located near Houston, TX. I have a ton of fond memories of it and so do many others who lived in the area. The runway was only a few hundred feet away from HWY 290. You could see small planes coming in on final just over your head, maybe 50-100 ft, while you were driving. Always had me excited as a kid. Sadly they shut this air strip down a few years back, it's now a business park, however its memory still exists on MSFS

Many childhood memories of Cessnas shutting off their engines coming in for their final approach, just gliding their way down. That and the legendary Robinson R-22 that always seemed to be hovering around the area.

Your tip on how to add fuel literally saved this game for me.. It kept starting me out with less than 15% fuel and I was having to skip constantly just to try to make it to the landing. My last mission before I saw this video I aborted because I only loaded in with 1% fuel so I ran out literally on my initial takeoff climb. I was ready to throw in the towel, now I've uncovered most major cities across the US thanks to the fast travel option, and happily finished multiple missions with PLENTY of fuel. Thank you so much for posting this video!!!

Once you accept the job before you click "Fly" the upper right hand side of your screen theres a management tab click that. That will show your weights of fuel and cargo and you can buy fuel that way.

That way is bugged. After you buy fuel, when you get in your plane, you'll have ~43% fuel no matter how much you bought and paid for. If you restart the flight, THEN the plane will have the fuel you purchased.

I had the TBM 930 for my VIP company. It worked fine for a few days and then the aircraft became completely bugged. I couldn't get the mechanic to check it or get insurance. Every menu interaction resulted in 'an unexpected error has occurred'. I had to delete career mode and start over.

I threw 700k out the window for a Beechcraft Bonanza ... 0% fuel bug and can´t even sell it ... means grinding money back up and praying that another plane will work. @@RSProduxx I had the same fuel bug issue with the TBM. You can work around it by going into 'free flight', select your fuel bugged plane and load a free flight in it with fuel. Then quit the free flight and go back to career mode and your plane will now have fuel in it. You have to do this each time you start the simulator. I haven't tried the hotkey method on a fuel bugged plane but that may work too.

Thank you so much, this was very helpful! I had just set up my first company and my bought my first plane. I placed it at my chosen airport expecting freelance jobs to appear from there , I didn't realise it actually had to be transported to the location of the job, I didn't even see any freelance jobs until I unlocked an area over 100 miles away from my home airport. I think it would be great if there was an option to free-fly our planes to the jobs, just like we can do in Neofly.

Maybe this will be of some comfort. The PPL certification is far more forgiving than the lessons you get. I did the lessons, with bugs and ended up with a mix of a's and b's and one c. I did my PPL and got it in one go, even though I missed my departure for my taxi off the runway. I also forgot to ask permission to taxi back and still got an A. It was far from perfect, but hey - I landed safely and importantly on the center line :D Turning on aids for landing may help, they will function during your certification

I bought a Cub to do floghtseeing, every time I finish a mission the expenses to repair the landing gear wipes out all of the income from the mission. My landings are pretty smooth, but I'm new to FS so maybe not perfect. Either way, my company is now bankrupt...with all the other fualts with the game, I just stopped playing. Not accessible enough to new players on platform.

When I started my first company, it did the same to me, then I spawned on a runway to short to gain take off speed 60kts and crashed into a tree. Was lvl 40, had most of the left side licenses and was a $406k bill to repair the plane. I restarted my career and here we are . Lvl 29 with cargo buisness getting 30k for that which is 5k more than flight seeing and apparently in this videos lol I can make over 100k each mission. Something’s glitched out and it’s pissing me off cus I spend 280k for a new plane for the cargo buisness and I get 30k a mission . Like that’s the point of even starting that business then fml

You actually can see how the Wind is going on the Map... You ll have to get back to the screen where you can select a Mission and then in the bottom left corner you can select different Map modes and also see where the Wind is going. But it's certainly more complicated than it needs to be. All in all a really good Video really helped me from certain doom.

Dumb glitch lowered my pilot rating by almost half. I agreed to a flight seeing flight and the gate had a tree in it for some reason. Mission loads and i start walking to remove the blocks and pop the plane roatates because of the tree and it says mission failed. Was very close to having an A rating and because i "crashed" im now halfway between c and b.

I think a lot of people go about career mode the wrong way, seeing it as a challenge to make as many credits as fast as possible. I'd say, DON'T start a company as soon as you can. Get a certification, fly a bunch of missions. When you're bored with those and are reasonably familiar with them, get another certification and do other missions. Keep saving up credits, and, more importantly, experience in different planes without the headaches of finances and maintenance until you found what you enjoy and can buy and fly the plane you want, not just the one you can afford. People get themselves stuck in a grind that way because all they can fly is that one plane doing just the one type of mission for too little money. Then, they finally saved up for that Caravan which they have no experience with, damage it in the first few flights, can't afford to fix it, and are back grinding in that first Cessna 172 to pay the maintenance bills. Don't forget, it's a FLIGHT simulator first, which is probably why you bought it. Don't get too obsessed with the business simulator part.

advice for checking your current sim-rate: You can start a counter on EFB and then timer's speed will change as well with the simrate. On Msfs2020, I was able to follow through planes's clock in Garmin and look to second's speed. But on Msfs2024, plane's clock is not effected with the simrate, at least for now :/

You are a lifesaver. I've been grinding the light cargo missions in the trusty Cessna 172 as an employee and getting $5000 odd per job. I was planning on doing that until I got my jumbo jet certification, then starting a company after that. Clearly that the slow, inefficient way.

you're lucky. My VIP missions crash to the desktop without any errors, when the plane reaches the flight level and the option to skip the flight should appear in the right menu. It also crashes in commercial flight mode on a 737. The game does not crash in other missions. But I have to farm cargo flights on a Cessna 172 for a long time to get money for a Cessna 208. A small lifehack if you only use polar regions, where long-distance flights, bad weather and money are given normally.

Watch out with the tornado scientific mission it will ruined your reputation lots crash after the finish the mission (i did with a S rating) when you go back to HQ you crash and no money and NO reputation> dont do that mission ^^

@TheWappa my skyhawk seems to only be able to fly like 120 NM before it just shuts off on me and I can't ever get it started back up. I keep having issues with not being able to respond to ATC. The game sometimes don't register you in the right spot, and even takes me in the wrong spot on the taxi way, making me lose reputation. The bugs don't happen on every mission but the amount of bugs that negatively impact the game are a lot and happen enough to frustrate someone to never play again. Look at any new game launch. The bugs suck pretty bad.

Go to shortcuts in the controls menu and bind add fuel. It will fill up like 35% of fuel per button press. You're welcome. And yes. You can do it in game.

Question for you - how do you get proficient on new planes in career mode? Do you just do a bunch of free flight and watch YT videos? Feels to me that there should be a type rating system (optional or mandatory) for you to go up for a check flight with a CFI to go over everything on the new type

Yeah, this gets me. Everytime I take a mission in a new aircraft I gotta figure it out. What's the take off/landing speeds, what speeds can I deploy the flaps at, how does it handle? Sometimes some of the information is in a panel inside the cockpit. Some of it is in the manual for the aircraft in the game files. Sometimes it's missing entirely. If's it's a little prop plane I just fly and usually land well enough. If it's anything else, I take it up in free fly first and try to figure some of it out.

I have had a freaking nightmare! After a long grind I started a freight company with a Cessna 172, I then took on a job that was 230 kilometers away, the journey was with stormy conditions and I had autopilot on. As I approached the last 5 kilometers I turned off autopilot and dialed down the sim rate, big mistake. I accidently incresad it, the plane then suddlendly stalled and spiralled out of control into a crash, I pressed control alt delete and even though I had max insurance it still cost me nearly 100k to fix.

Insurance glitch that cost you all that money was patched and isn’t an issue any more. That said, the video was very helpful. Seeing how much the VIP and medium cargo missions pay gave me an idea which direction to go with my career.

about the fuel, it tells you how much is needed, 1302lbs its there on the screen in fact its on 2 screens!, clicking on manage aircraft you can add fuel there, now adding the fuel in game will come up with a "unexpected error"

I've made a stupid mistake of selling my first aircraft because I've noticed I could sell it for a lot more money than I bought it for. Thinking it was some sort of a bug. Here I am suffering on employee missions trying to save up for a cessna... I hate myself

I had the luxury of selling my Cessna, and buying one for 50k cheaper. I ended up with 56k after I bought it. However when things go up, things go down. MSFS 2024 really loves bringing my reputation down cuz of bugs like putting a random tree on the runway or making me spawn on a tree.

Opinion on the first advice, i disagree on letting us draw an area to unlock.. but give us free flight in career, and have the area you fly over unlocked.. so it's still manual.. and why shouldn't i be able to fly a plane i just bought. i know there is free flight in the main menu, but in career it could also have a purpose. edit. about the sim rate, if you decrease it all the was and go 4 ticks increase, you are back on normal speed

-Get one C172 and start VIP charters. -Save until you can buy a G2 -Buy 2 more and rake in the passive. The end. That will take you all the way to airliners.

@@Floo2o24 Grind the cargo PC12. A million per mission on average. I have currently have 5ea PC12, 2ea PC24, 5ea CJ4. Even though there are no VIP missions, the CJ4 still brings in massive passive payouts. I don't know what happened to all the VIP missions. They vanished right when I sold all my G2s to get PC12s

@Squirrel In case you didn't know you can map a button to "Toggle Thrust Reverse" to enable beta on the Caravan. Once toggled pushing the throttle forward will smoothly move the in-game throttle backwards into the beta range allowing you to do precise taxi speeds. I wish the same thing was available and working on the PC-12... :(

Oh, and speaking of the PC-12 in medium cargo missions. If you fly at the requested FL300 or similar the plane will crash or you die at that altitude and the mission will fail. It is because there is no oxygen on the plane (gauge is zero) and the pressurization is not working. The trick I found so far is to fly at FL180 or below and that let's you finish the flight. I guess with the "add fuel" trick it can work on longer routes.

I think the best advice for VR flyers is to wait until they fix the menus and messages. Otherwise this career mode and the certification flights are just an un-enjoyable mess, designed to make your head ache. EDIT: So went back into career mode, and now high winds are destroying me constantly. And they give you ZERO information about the wind conditions until you are basically on the runway. Great tip about changing the entry procedure. I mean this teardrop option is default everywhere I have been. I have been ignoring it. I wonder when career mode will be ready to have fun in?

i also struggled with cross winds a lot. my tip is to change assist settings to all, then the auto rudder and other assist features make landing a looooot easier.

@5:10 I hear your advice on waiting to create a cargo company-- but I noticed that once i got cleared to do ferry missions all over the place, the amounts for flightseeing missions decreased significantly. Do you have any idea if waiting to start a cargo company (instead of starting a flightseeing/skydiving company) , are mission payments for cargo company now somehow lower, considering that you paid so little for your first plane??

I wish Asobo would drop patches/updates more frequently than they do! Its like once a month, if we are lucky... I hate that this mode is so buggy and unpolished along with the OBVIOUS places where they cut corners. The career mode is so fun but its almost like the game is trying everything it can to keep you from having fun with all the bugs. I spend more time navigating bugs than navigating my plane...

small tip for sim rate that works for me, if you pressed four times speed increase, or 3 times, You dont remember, than clicking twice the decrease sim rate speed button (like mouse double click) returns it to 1x sim rate. I didn't set this anywhere, it is just how it works for me. You also need remember about ATC in increased time speed, you'll got penalty if You don't catch up with ATC. Again what is work for me in that case, if i see ATC talking to me than i pressing decrease sim rate button not twice wich slows me to 1x speed but 3 or 4 times, that actually slows the time speed below 1x but then i have time to answer ATC and not get penalty for missed ATC command. After ATC i'm speeding up again ;)

I think the issue with the sim rate and turbulence has to do with the autopilot not reacting at the increased rate. Seems like at the slightest bit of turbulence, it's late to react, but then continues to over-correct producing autopilot induced oscillations. I notice the same issue when I reach a steer-point of more than a few degrees, so I drop back down to 1x for all of these.

I flew my brand new Caravan on its second flight in the highest sim rate. Small turn ok although unstable, but on this 45 degree turn the mission ended. ‘You crashed your plane’ I don’t know what it was, high g loads or something like that, but I now have to save up 2.5 million credits to fix it. 😢 But I still love the career mode. Maybe a bit too addictive.

Only problem is the first mission I do is to land somewhere in Switzerland but I can’t find the runway. So I had to alt + F4 put of that.

Thanks for the advice! I wished i saw this yesterday haha - i made the 25k to start my own company and i went straight into flightseeing with the discount cessna. Guess i'll be grinding for a good while with the robot customers telling me everything is amazing in a flat toned voice 😅 I'm enjoying the career mode though! Its nice to have a good reason to fly places and have things to work towards. I'm finding the penalties to rep and cash a bit brutal though - especially if the crash or fine is the game's fault rather than your own.

Maybe you should mention that the insurance system doesn't work AT ALL In a way since this is so VERY buggy and flawed, I still enjoy the HECK out of career mode. I don't know if you can go straight into the cargo company. After watching this video, I did a bunch of employee flights to get up to around 30K. The Flight Seeing company was available for purchase but, the cargo was not with the message of "No available aircraft." So, it may have to start with the flight seeing, until you get the required 220K for starting the cargo company. May just be in particular situation but, I met all the other criteria.

Fuel was the worst for me. I kept getting missions into a headwind, with cargo starting at like 40% fuel. I tried changing fuel load on the tablet, which didn't work, or requesting fuel from ground services when it was available. Mapping Refit and Refuel was a life-saver. The deeper you get in the career, the more it is broken though. ATC will scream at you for not maintaining flight level when you're 2 ft below the flight level, AP won't follow the flight plan, mission director just forgets where you are in the mission etc... Also, it's very annoying that you still really only get offered the basic level jobs, even though you're certified all the way through the tree.

I love career mode. I don't bother with the default ATC. I use Beyond ATC. Accept my mission, file/adjust the flight plan in simbrief and then upload it to the EFB. I then load up beyond ATC and fly my mission. Much more realistic.

Don't rely on the default IFR cruising altitudes given by ATC. In the mountains you will surely be told to fly straight into one. You would think they could at least know the highest obstruction height between your departure airport and destination, but they don't. Always add several thousand more feet as a safety margin.

Crashed the caravan while I was AFK due to the bug of the AP where the plane just banks to the side for no reason(happens mainly when I turn on nav mode on and when I accelerate sim). Now I have to come up with 4 mil to fix everything in it. Didn’t even do one mission. Also the Vr in the caravan is bugged too. Images of the mouse cursor in my eyes are not synced right. The right eye is off by a bit. I have to rely on my left eye to place the cursor in the spot to tweak things. I hope this gets fixed in the patches a couple of days from now.

This is great and thanks so much for the video but I honestly have NO IDEA how anyone is able to get past even the first flight missions and CPL. I just run into so. many. bugs. and it makes it so hard/impossible to complete some things, or you just get hit with so many random penalties when they aren't deserved or bugs that tell you to go somewhere other than the objective, plane spawning half in the ground, trees on or right in front of a runway, ATC completely broken, etc. etc. Its so frustrating.
