Can someone PLEASE help me with this sentence? "The borrowing of phonological features has been attested in many cases of intense contact"
@gamergirlgameplays9451

(The (Determiner) borrowing (Noun/Header, main topic) (of (preposition) phonological (modifier) features) (noun) (Noun phrase till here and prepositional phrase since "of" till "features" (Has been attested) (Verb phrase) in many (quantifier) cases (noun) (in many is also a noun phrase) (of (preposition) intense (modifier) contact (noun)) (Prepositional phrase since "of" till "contact" This is really complicated to explain using the chat. I hope it was helpful anyway :)

I am not sure, if I understand the object complement well. Could the word "first" be characterized as an object complement in the following sentence? "The owners wait to get into the place, with the growing conviction that the madhouse will claim them first."

Hello, I am Ricko Tendean from Indonesia. In the first Sentence, you have explained the Category of the Sentence. Perhaps (Adverb Phrase) you (Noun Phrase - Noun - Pronoun) will (Auxiliary) never (Adverb) find (Verb) a job (Noun Phrase) a (determiner-article) job (head Noun) as a linguist (Prepositional Phrase) as (preposition), a linguist (Complement - Noun Phrase), a (determiner-article) linguist (head Noun). The function of "perhaps" is Adverbial and "you" is Subject, Why did not you mention "will never find a job as a linguist" as Predicate ? While a Sentence consists of Subject, Predicate and Adverbial. In my analysis, the function of "will never find a job as a linguist" is Predicate. Which divide into Predicator and Complement. "will never find" as Predicator and "a job as a linguist" as Direct Object (Complement). My theory is based on English Syntactic Structures by Flor Aarts and Jan Aarts (1982).

Brother.... Without subject.. The rest parts of a sentence are called predicate....Is Known to everybody... But the fact that as the teacher explained all about a sentence, he might have explained all the elements of a sentence... That I was also looking for a video like this one... 🥰
