Im a self-taught data analyst that just started last week, and everything he said is spot on 👏

That's nice. Would you be willing to share your journey to becoming a self taught data analyst?
@PhoneNHe2 ай бұрын
thats so true. First minutes he jumps into the relevance of the technical skills. Not to disrespect or avoid excel as well. Glad he mentioned it.

I needed to hear this. I've been focusing on learning all the broad concepts in python, meanwhile my objective is to be a data scientist. And most of the concepts I've been learning focus more on software development, and not exclusively on data analysis and data science. While there is justification for taking that route, it's been making the learning curve steep and steeper, and demoralizing at time when I get stuck in my understanding of those concept. It's time I pivot.

Just before you give up. DataCamp offers a skill and career pathway to becoming a data scientist/ analyst using Python for data science… it’ll cover the essential libraries you need for data and starts with basic concepts with hands on projects as well

Get used to making only one question before anything - "Is it gonna help me with my objective?" and speak out your opinion out loud to have it in a physical (fixed) environment (i.e. to make it real)

Great video and your guest was amazing. Im 22 months into my learningjourney, i know python quite well i think, still learning it today but gonna go out on a limb and say i can code, it may take me a bit long with thinking but ill get it done. Im good at sql all the way up to Window functions, im doing a data engineering bootcamp, then a quick aws data engineering bootcamp, then gonna start applying for jobs in about 3 months, so total it would of taken me 2 years and 2 months b4 i start applying for jobs. But i feel i know so much especially with the data engineering that im not even applying for junior roles, gonna risk it and go for senior jobs, gonna do a pipeline architecture course so i know how to design the pipelines infrastructure then boom. Im thinking i doubt a new comer likes me knows so much but well see trust in God

Unfortunately I reckon you'll find it near impossible for senior level jobs. You should try mid level at a stretch if you've no corporate experience. Companies value experience a lot more than bootcamps and for senior roles it'd be at least 3+ years of experience.

I think start applying for jobs before you're ready then see who you are hearing back from. Will help you to gauge the demand for your current skill + also assess your current CV

I believe you gentlemen have a realistic perspective on becoming a data scientist. KZbin has too many unrealistic methods to getting in the field. I completed a 3 month program at MIT but it was too fast with a full time job. Now I’m going back from the beginning and running the entire program again and doing all the extra practice involved.

I don't think any employer will hire you with no knowledge + no experience. So you can self teach to get the knowledge
