My friends keep asking me why I don't date, not on apps, not wanting to meet anyone... It's because I want to meet them organically hahahaha... In your 30s, it kinda doesn't happen especially when you work, exercise, and hangout only with your friends. I love you JOAN, we are the same. ❤
@doujinflip3 ай бұрын
Organic meet cutes only gets more difficult the farther you get from school, meanwhile the other alternative of churches are increasingly seen as toxic and limiting. This collapse of safe spaces to regularly meet and potentially get to know random strangers is a big reason dating apps are becoming vital to rebuild a social network (not just for romance either) as old friends move away or start families and fall out of your circle.
@nathanp20073 ай бұрын
@@doujinflip Collapse of safe spaces? Huh? Take up some hobbies or go to classes/clubs for your existing hobbies! This goes to all the boring women out there whose personalities and hobbies revolve around shopping and the guys who spend all their time at home gaming: pick-up social hobbies!! Wanna meet people? Take cooking classes, baking classes, join a running club, join a hiking gym, take dance lessons, there are tonssssssssssssssssssssss of places and things to do/learn where you will be surrounded by single adults. And imagine how easy it is to break the ice with someone who shares a hobby (like baking, movies or hiking) with you.

@@nathanp2007 Women usually have so many hobbies and we build such a strong network of women. ❤️ Also, doing hobbies to meet people isn't a very introverted thing to do, sounds like an extrovert. I do hobbies because I genuinely love them. 😁
@nathanp2007Ай бұрын
@@thanhbuutran4101 if you don't get out of your comfort zone, instead just hiding behind being introverted, you literally won't meet anyone ever. If you're looking for organic encounters they won't happen at home. You HAVE to put yourself in situations where men can be proactive and spark up conversation. Hence going and doing something you enjoy, like taking a community class, a running club, or something, where men also attend and you'll have that thing you're doing in common. I'm literally saying if you don't even do the bare minimum, get ready to be single forever. 🤷🏻♂️

@nathanp2007 SIR, no one is hiding... I like organic encounters, but not wishing, longing or hoping to meet anyone. Being single forever is OKAY. That's the point that I was connecting with Joan about... There is so much more to life than just getting married. Career, travelling, social justice, knowledge, higher education, hobbies like you mentioned... Life is beautiful, why are you lecturing some stranger on the internet about finding someone. Did you not listen to the video? Women in their 30s are happy without problematic men. If you want to seek someone out, you can. If you don't care like myself, that's okay too. 😂

I'm nearing 30 and I just had a breakup a few weeks ago (right a day after my birthday gosh). Even though it was a peaceful breakup in which I got the clarity and conclusion I needed, there are times when I resent myself too. I felt like I shouldn't have put that much effort in that relationship to the point I felt like I was losing my self worth. And now that I'm single, the problem isn't about moving on, it was more on how to find the right person and where to find it. Because just like what you guys have discussed, as we age and as we went through different relationships, we ended up being more picky with our next partner. The part where you guys talked about how I will find someone better for sure hits me right through though. So thank you, for that talk! Wishing everyone here much happiness from within

Thankfully as you get older you take less shit usually too. I want to add three other things to examine in a relationship to see if someone is a good partner or red flag is how they are with their finances, how they treat those struggling and their friendships. Do they impulsively spend? Are they secretive? Do they always save and never spend? Do they treat waiters terribly? Do they make fun or hate on unhoused people? Do they have friends? Do they take badly about their friends? Are their friends decent people?

Really enjoyed the talk! ✨ I would like to share my perspective on dating apps. As a user it becomes very discouraging seeing all this single ppl and matching or not matching bcs you know they wouldn’t be your type. And it takes a lot of tries to find someone you’re actually interested enough to go an a date (could also be dangerous… etc). When I was single I always said I’m not playing games, dating apps it’s just a vehicle to meet someone who you wouldn’t meet on your day to day (specially if you’re introvert, busy with work, or hobbies that don’t include the other gender). If you decide to go on a date is bcs there’s mutual interest so no point in playing games. I think it’s good to be straightforward about what you are looking after (serious, thinking about marriage etc) so you can weed out all the ppl with different intentions and values. Of course, not all ppl have this goal when they use dating apps, that’s why we should always keep our standards high!

27:00 Not to bring bad news, but studies have found the following: Once you reach 26 years old, you should identify who your best partner was up until that age. Then, after 26, if you meet someone who surpasses that “best” partner, statistically, they are likely to be the best partner you will ever find. If you are over 30 and have already missed those two “best” partners, statistically, it becomes much harder to find someone better. Haha, so maybe it’s time to start compromising on some standards, I guess! Find it in one of the episode from the ceo diary podcast

As a 50 year old married woman. I had a blast during my 20’s and 30’s. Did things like had a lunch date and mid day date and another dinner date in one day. It was fun and exciting and clean fun. My friends and I always talked about how the 90’s was so much better than today. My advice is you have to be whole as a person before getting into relationships. Imposing what you want is not always a right thing. There should always be a give or take on both. Sometimes you should allow the men to be the leader or the alpha. It is what makes them men. The worst thing that happened in the 90’s is Sex in the City. It really made naive women think that fun is sleeping around and being too carefree. It actually makes women more unattractive and insecure. So love yourself. Enjoy but be safe and and stay happy.

This is so real and so true. As soon as I hit my 30 my list is now very direct, longer, and pretty specific as to what I would be willing to consider in a companion. Because I know myself a lot more, so I know what would work best for me. If a guy doesn't meet that, it takes two seconds for me to make an excuse and run away😂. I'm also not on dating apps, the quality of guys on there is way too low. The women that usually end up marrying guys from dating apps usually end up having to compromise way too much of their life .. mmm nope, I just couldn't 😖

Yes but no one cares. You don’t hold leverage after 30. “If a guy doesnt meet that” you’re 30. A guy will just go for a 20 year old. You grossly overestimate your value in dating at 30. The fact that you’ve lost your youth and sense of femininity is precisely why not only will guys not care, they may purposely do things like that to push you away. A lot of you 30 year old women are clueless

I lived in Korea all throughout my 20s and let me tell you the amount of bullshit I encountered from men. I just returned to the states this year and have taken a break from being single, lol. I am dating now, and let me be honest it's been a STRUGGLE. I've been incredibly selfish because I don't want to end up where I was in my 20s emotionally. But I'm dating a person who's emotionally intelligent and he's teaching me how to love again. I will say the Korean dating pool damaged my mental health and I'm slowly recovering from it. Right now I'm learning to trust again, but it's going to be a long process.

2 single chicks in their 30s giving dating advice. Horrible, don't listen to people who don't know anything about successful dating.
