Happy Birthday! 10 years and 4 months ago I turned 68 and those years went by in a flash! I woke up one morning and couldn't believe it...I'm 78 years old! Back then..at age 68 I thought I couldn't be happy without a man..but I have learned that I can! Sure I'm lonely sometimes then I remember I can get up when I want to, go to bed when I want to, eat what I want to...and the very best thing is I dont have to pluck his ear hairs, cut his toenails or listen to him snore! I am happy just as I am and thankful though I move slow now...I can still move and I am still alive! Thank God!

Recently,I have been cleaning out my closet and I am donating those clothes, in a variety of sizes, that I have never worn. This year, I am going to spend my disposable income on traveling beginning with a trip to Jamaica. I am 73 years old and there is no guarantee that I will be healthy enough to travel in the next several years. I am going to spend my money on experiences instead of stuff. That is a gift I am giving to myself.

Happy Birthday!! I'm 69 and I have learned a whole lot in these years. I think what I got right is that I tried a whole lot of things...had several successful careers, renovated a house on my own, and just threw myself into learning and trying new things constantly. I can look back and know that I really didn't say NO to anything that I felt I wanted to do or try. Don't be afraid to try or make mistakes. I also had to learn not to let men control me. You were so strong to make that guy take you back home. Maybe you shouldn't have changed your clothes, but he was so wrong to ask you to change. I've changed a lot more than outfits to try to be what some guy wants. It is a horrible feeling. We deserve to be loved exactly as we are or it is never going to work. I love every one of your videos and look forward to new ones each week....and watch the old ones in between. Give Desi a hug.

Oh how I wish I could feel as you do. I'm 70 and I have only 2 happy memories from childhood to remember. One, when I finally learned how to ride a two wheeler bike and when I graduated from high school and 3 days later started college. The rest of my life had been filled with abuse, low self-esteem and what I thought was failure. I learned better as I became an adult and I truly have done a whole lot of good in my life, but it never transferred to my mind at the time. I consistently chose the wrong men and am married to an emotionally abusive man now. I am disabled and cannot be on my own. I need help with so many actions. I so want to be on my own, but I fear that is not possible, financially or healthwise. I watch your channel for inspiration and it keeps my hopes up that maybe someday, I will be on my own, feeling safe and full of self-confidence. I haven't given up. I truly hope you had a good Birthday and had fun making your favorite cake. There is always hope. Thank you for that.

The one I share often with my two granddaughters is this - listen to your inner voice. Go with your gut! So not let your rational mind talk you into something when it doesn’t “feel” right! We are born with that instinct and the more we use it, the sharper it gets. As a young woman I was often in the wrong place at the wrong time. When I went with my gut, I was OK but when I let “friends” persuade me otherwise- not so much.

Happy Birthday! My 68th birthday is next weekend and I have never been happier. The life lesson I learned is that you don’t have to stay planted where you are just because you have roots. Twenty years ago I sold or gave away everything I had except some clothes, jewellery and a few photographs to immigrate to England. In one year my first marriage ended (rather dramatically), I quit my job of 26 years to nurse my dad in his final illness and I met my new love online. Shocking at the time, but I took a chance… a BIG chance for a new life and happiness. To this day I can’t believe I did it! Like beautiful flowers, we can survive where we are planted but sometimes the best way to thrive and grow is to get transplanted. Before my husband who was the love of my life passed, I felt I had to deal with all the toxicity of my family. After all it was family. But I moved closer to them when he passed and was miserable. A few days ago I realised for the first time that my marriage is well and truly over and this devastated me, I couldn't stop crying. I think my life lesson would be to have walked away and stay away from my husband 8 years ago after his affair. We had got back from an absolutely wonderful week away to reconcile our marriage, I was on cloud nine. Two days later he was back in bed with her. Another lesson would be to believe in your gut instinct, my has always been right.

Happy Birthday! I'll be 68 in June.... Two things I've learned since I lost my husband in '09. The only person you can count on is you, and the other is...no one is coming! I have a high school education and a degree from KZbin University. Thank you for adding to my learning experience! We all have highs and lows. And at some of my lowest times, you've lifted my spirits and gave me the gumption to keep it moving. Happy Birthday!! I can’t wait to hear what Hal’s surprise was. I do believe there is redemption in all things. I have a granddaughter who has gone through a lot of things and at 12 tried to commit suicide..it was awful for us all. She is 14 now and doing better but still has times when she is very sad and bitter. I shared with her a day that I decided that I could be bitter or better and not let the past drag me down. I wish I could impart to her how important life is and how there are no “do overs”. I pray that she has a wonderful life and that sometimes what we talk about sticks. My life lesson - everything in life I took for granted - one day flows into another!!!!!! How wrong I was - what I took for granted is no more- children are gone living their owns lives - fallen out of love with my then husband, time changes things- the way we think - now if I can only go back for one day to have my family close to by side. Happy birthday!!! 🎉 I've learned many things as I turned 60. We're all flawed human beings. We need to be kinder to ourselves and accept if not all, but some of our flaws. Accept flaws in others. Be a kinder, gentler person. Another thing I've learned and am trying to follow is finding balance in life. Take each day as it comes and don't get ahead of myself. Life is short. Learn to dance in the rain.

Happy birthday to you! Loved this video and hearing your thoughts on life and all the other things. I will be 68 in August and I am reflecting more about my life, people in it and decisions I have made along the way. Recently divorced after 43yrs, I am now at a place in the grief of being tired and angry, and instead try to be more compassionate, understanding but learning more about life in all of this. The biggest lesson I've ever learned is forgiveness is not just for you to have, but for your to give. It's not about you only being set free but the offender being set free as well. When we make forgiveness only about us being free then it remains only about us. Forgiveness is selfless not selfish. This is the greatest lesson I've ever learned. Dearest Susan, birthday wishes for a year of health, growth and much joy. I thought 50&60 were such huge milestones, and now almost 71 shows me that each year brings its challenges and gifts from which we learn and grow. I have every intention of mapping my way through the next decades in the best health I can achieve, the best outlook I can achieve and the most joyous memories I can create.
