I met my beloved through a Yahoo personal ad in 2001. We were in different towns at the time. Long telephone calls, emails, and my making a few bus trips added to our relationship. Hurricane Katrina helped in getting me assigned through work in the neighboring town to her's. I am a cancer survivor who has had several post-treatment surgeries. I am a Type II diabetic, with lower extremity skin issues and stage IV kidney dysfunction, and a disabled Vietnam veteran. In 2003. she was diagnosed with toxic mold infection, interstitial lung disease, resultant diabetes and gastro-intestinal syndromes due to black mold. We live our lives as best we can, since she was pronounced 'soon to be dead' from her disease. Some of my surgeries have been since we have known each other, and some have come as an emergency. For me, every day that I hear her voice on the phone (no, we do not live together, for we respect each other's "space".) is one more day's gift. I dread the day come the silence.
