Love this style of video. I like the text better. I don't need to watch with sound. Very informative and thanks for explaining what everything does along the way!

Im stuck at replacing the three way hose on the carbon canister and cant find it anywhere online is there any way I could get a link for the oem or just any replacement part for it? Thanks would really appreciate the help.

Do you know a way to reuse the fuel filter? Or at least the top part with the "Made in Japan" and "Out" engraving on it. When I would replace the fuel filter I would loose this original detail. I like the videos where you talk btw...

Great Vid! Where did you pick up that red handled cleaning brush? And what is the Alcohol/Water solution again? Thanks!

I think they're called "Mothers Detail Brush Set" and they can be found in Amazon. Unless you're talking about the circular brush, in which case you can also find those easily by just searching "detail brushes" on Amazon.

It is important to have the carbon filter? On mine I bought recently doesn’t have one but it runs fine. Just curious cause I want to restore it

It’s like $2, might as well put one on

Great info here! I've heard from someone that you can remove these carbon canisters, what are the benefits to keeping it? Just better for the environment I would assume?
@RestorationForBeginners7 жыл бұрын
Many people who have taken these canisters off report that the car smells like fuel on a hot day due to improper ventilation of the fuel tank. The fuel tank, without the vent, can pressurize as well, which might make for an unpleasant experience when filling up. That being said, I don't think there are significant performance impacts either way; you might get a little bit better gas mileage with it on, but I imagine it's negligible. Personally, unless you're trying really hard to simplify and "clean up" the engine compartment, I suggest leaving it on.

Restoration For Beginners that's interesting! My car smells like fuel and the tank is pressurized almost every time I open the cap. Maybe my carbon canister is clogged like you were saying in the video... are new ones available or can I clean it out?
@RestorationForBeginners7 жыл бұрын
+Brent Stam your carbon canister being clogged would be my first guess. These canisters weren't really built to be serviceable and they can't be opened without cutting as far as I know. Maybe you can try to pry off the cap and drain the insides out? You should let me know!

Question, my Carbon can has a removable rubber boot on the underside with a hose that unfortunately isn't connected anywhere. Not sure where it goes.
@RestorationForBeginners7 жыл бұрын
+vertigo042 Well I think all carbon canisters have three fittings: vacuum line, fuel like from the tank, and fuel line to the intake. Which one is missing?
@vertigo0427 жыл бұрын
Its not on the top. I actually stopped by ZcarSource in phoenix yesterday to pick up a water pump. Its a rubber boot that goes on the bottom of the canister. They said its a rare part that ins't required but its just a rubber protector for the bottom of the canister and keeps the filter clean. Most Zcars don't have them because they rot away. Was pretty interesting to discover.

According to the FSM its called a canister tray. I'd never seen one before.

Haha sorry, I have zero experience with air conditioning systems. I just ripped mine out, which I might regret in a few months.

Haha really? I wasn't sure if people wanted to hear me stutter through the work. I also find it hard to speak coherently while I'm doing stuff with my hands, but I can try!
