I feel this would be a perfect opportunity to bring back rampage and onslaught and have it built in to overcharge. This would take the gun and make it a great ad clear weapon and have the fire rate cap out at 450 at max stacks. Then at max stacks you have that trade off of keeping the ad clear potential or shift to the dps of a linear fusion rifle for majors.

It can take care of trash and most majors, letting you devote both your special and heavy to boss dps (vorpal sniper+delayed rocket launcher) without having to waste special ammo for non-boss enemies.

That's how every single exotic in D2 is structured? It makes things easier to explain. Imagine explaining Ticcu's Divination in one single perk, it would be a massive wall of text. "Hipfiring this weapon fires three arrows at a time. Aiming with this weapon condenses the three arrows into one. Drawing the bow from hipfire allows you to mark targets for tracking. Targets hit with hipfire shots suffer the 'Sacred Flame' debuff which causes damage over time. Targets hit by aimed shots whilst under the effects of Sacred Flame explode. Targets killed whilst under the effects of Sacred Flame explode" Split it in two, makes it much easier to digest.

I want to point out this is a raid exotic, meaning it drops from pinnacle content and a rare chance to do so. If a common LEGENDARY gun can perform on a similar or better than it I really think it warrants some level of buffs. As the person before me stated: that's the problem I have with exotics. Every legendary outclasses exotics except Scout rifles since the entire archetype is trash except DMT. It has been like that for a long time. Makes zero sense as to why exotics are worse than legendary guns. I honestly hate PvP for making exotics inferior to legendary weapons. Some of these exotics have shit perks as well which makes it worse or have bad perks but their base stats are equal to or worse than legendary. Only a handful of exotics can actually be used in either PvP or PvE.

As someone who's been excited for the possibility of a dual firing mode exotic fusion rifle that can swap between "normal burst fusion" and "linear fusion" since queenbreaker bow in D1 made conventional Linear Fusions a thing, even more so from Y1 D2 when Fusion Rifle and Linear Fusion Rifle were made distinct weapon types, and occasionally reminded of the possibility with exotics like Symmetry and Devil's Ruin that have dual firing modes that're completely different from each other, I'm stoked for Vex being like it is even if it's not an efficient choice yet. Looking forwards to see it buffed of course, we want to see the things we like doing well. But just the fact it exists, even if it's a pseudo-auto rifle/ linear fusion instead of burst fusion/ linear fusion, so happy this is the change they chose to make when revising Mythoclast for D2.

Honestly, the catalyst should've had like 5% damage per Overcharge stack totaling to 30%, same as Rampage. The shtick is that at it would be there constantly as long as you have stacks, unlike rampage. The damage should also go the fusion part and scale down with the stacks. So basically, the first shot would have +30% damage, second shot +20%, last shot +10%. This would make the first shot hit like a Heavy Linear Fusion, but the subsequent ones slightly worse. So, based on your 30k hit on that LS boss, fisrt shot would be 39k, then 36k then 33k. The catch here is that as soon as you swap to the LFR, the damage buff should also start a timer , 10s to be exact. After the 10s, if you haven't fired all shots, the remaining ones would deal normal damage. So to recap, for the Auto Rifle part, +5% per stack with no time limit. When swapping to LFR, +30% +20% +10% within 10s. Do you think it is too much? I feel like the conditions to activate would make it useful enough, but not a default since you do need the kills setup. And I disagree that it shouldn't have similar damage to normal LFRs. Yes, it uses primary ammo, but, it's exotic, it has the kills setup and you only get 3 shots, it's not like it's going to become DPS meta. It's going to be good for bursts on majors and low level bosses which honestly is fine to me.

In the linear fusion rifle mode they should allow the charges to stack. For instance if you have all 6 charges, then depending on how long you charge you use up charges and the damage is adjusted for each charge used. For instance you could charge your shot to use one or all 6. They could have reach out the squares drain to show how many you'll use when you let go of the trigger. If you hold until the end it uses all 6

They made it out to be a jack of all trades but it really just feels like a jack of these few niche trades. A couple things it could use would be: -catalyst slightly increases damage for each stack of overcharge. This would be on top of the stability bonuses -LFR mode can bypass enemy shields aka anti barrier rounds -give the AR mode firefly to keep it in line with other VOG weapons? -when at very low health, both modes fire faster than normal (kinda referencing how headless goblins and hobgoblins start spamming shots) -a simple "this gun deals more damage to vex enemies". I personally always liked this feature on d1 weapons and although its basic, it gave certain weapons an edge in some content

Each stack of overcharge should slightly increase rate of fire and damage, since it had crowd control in d1. Its catalyst should also increase range along with stability. Then to make holding max stacks worth it, make the linear fusion shot explode enemies for some good burst crowd control.

I'd say that the catalyst should also allow you to hold your stacks when swapping because the fact remains that even with the catalyst, you still need to swap weapons sometimes, and then you lose any benefit from it. It would be an easy buff to the gun that would make it more useable. Edit: also please just make it considered auto rifle so that A: mods cost a reasonable amount because they're considered special weapons and therefore cost a lot more energy, and B: artifact mods work with it.

I had a good time in gambit gaining stacks in the early game and wreaking invaders - the hit box felt massive when using it. The late game was really rough trying to keep those stacks for invaders during boss dps because you aren’t getting kills and swapping to heavy or special to get boss dps done, losing all stacks.

On the bungie forums i suggested giving the auto rifle fire overload and the linear shots anti barrier. A simple way to buff it without buffing it. Having 2 anti champs in one gun would make it versatile.

The heavy slot bug makes me wonder if this was initially conceptualized as a heavy weapon, I.e. normal fire with machine gun damage, to build up to a handful of high power LFR shots. Then they decided against that. Kind of like how Cryosthesia had that error with the catalyst listed under Energy and tied to your energy weapon kills. Presumably that was originally built as an energy weapon (because element) before they decided to put it into kinetic due to the lack of stasis shields which would make using it in an energy slot a huge disadvantage, akin to having 2 kinetic weapons. Just a thought, that Mytho may be pulling a stat or other effect from the equipped heavy because some bit of code still thinks it is a heavy.

I think vex should also have a champion mod on it (AB, overload, unstoppable) added as well. The fact it's a fusion rifle means it will likely never be useful in high tier activities as it likely won't be able to get any champion mods, like other primaries. This along with a crowd control esque perk like in D1 would do wonders for this weapon I feel

Catalyst should add "crowd control (rampage)" back and then maybe slightly buff the linear fusion rifle damage since you only get 3 shots.

What if increasing stacks of Overcharge, aside of more stability, gave Vex a damage bonus? To Rampage 2 or 3 levels. Alongisde a damage buff in linear fusion damage, just a tiny bit. You start kinda weak, but as you get stacks of overcharge, you get more stability and damage. Then, you can go to linear fusion mode to hit a burst of damage to an enemy with more health, restarting overcharge. It would be a nice come and go between a good but not insane primmary and a good but not insane special ammo type damage burst, which is what it's supposed to be. The extra damage would also help in PvP with the damage falloff, at least a bit.

Got it yesterday, and I think it’s pretty good actually. Still don’t have the catalyst yet, but the only thing I have to say about it, is that it’s kind of inconsistent when it comes to its TTK. Other than that, I actually love using the gun.

you should just be able to switch between the linear fusion mode and the auto rifle mode whenever you want like lord of wolves and the overcharge stacks grant increased damage until you reload

I'm just putting it like this. If they buffed it and made the catalyst do this. Upon getting a kill with the linear shot. Gain a 25% damage boost for 10 seconds. This effect stacks and restarts the timer. This extra damage works for the normal mode as well as the linear rifle bit. It'd reward swapping modes, give it a huge boost in firepower, and would make it hit like the old one. And even in pvp. It could be nerfed to make it harder to get stacks in pvp by a bit to prevent it from outpacing rampage and other such things while still being good. But that's just my two sense on it

Five things they could do to make mythoclast better (maybe one or two of these, but not all): 1. Keep stacks of overcharge when you swap weapons. 2. Increase linear fusion damage. 3. Increased damage based on amount of overcharge. 4. You can swap between firing modes anytime. 5. Give the weapon anti-champion mods, like unstoppable on the linear fusion shots, or they could give it 2 champion mods, for example overload on the auto rifle and unstoppable on the linear fusion.

I have a few ways it could be improved For the catalyst it gains in reads stability, rage of fire, and you keep half the stacks when swapping weapons (so if I have 6 stacks swap to a gun and saw an back o would have 3 stacks) For the linear mode make charge time a bit faster and have it effect 1 champion maybe stun an unstoppable or overload on hit I think for the normal mode it’s relatively fine maybe a small damage buff. Also could we get a better ornament that isn’t a chrome shader I know it’s the one from D1 but something ore creative like a past future vex themed one or a half/half taken refreshing quira would be nice.

I found the Mythclast to shine the most in Gambit of all places. Special ammo can sometimes be a little more rare in Gambit so the linear fusion rifle side of the weapon can be more useful. You also keep your charges when invading and it one tap head shots guardians when invading. I don't believe you and one tap invaders with it though (but I could be wrong.) It still won't replace my tradition load out for Gambit though. Vex is a fun weapon use in casual content but, I ain't using it in content were other guardians are depending on me.

On last gen consoles it sometimes despawns its model thus completely breaking the weapon making it shoot like a normal fusion then firing full auto with outrageous recoil even with the catalyst,not sure if its due to a bug or just a permanent thing with the weapon for people not on PC/series X or ps5

Honestly they just have to make each bolt do the same damage as a rapid fire fusion bolt in PvE (maybe a bit less than that) and it'll be great, regardless of whether or not it receives a champion mod in the future. In PvP, increasing the base damage slightly would combat the poor range and make it better for what this thing is intended to do
